March crowds

We have always gone to WDW in late Jan. and it has been very slow. I booked March 5-11 and I have heard that it may be busy. How busy? My husband does not like crowds. I have a feeling that I made a poor choice. Someone please tell me that it won't be too crazy. I cannot change our dates because we are using a timeshare. When is Mardi Gras? I heard last March was extra busy because Easter was really early last year.

You should be in the clear! Mardi Gras is 2/28 in 2006. Easter is late. Some schools do have an early spring break, but the majority are out around Easter. We went the week of March 8th this year and even though it was 2 weeks before Easter, the crowds were totally managable and the longest we ever waited was 30 minutes. You should be in great shape!

If it's at all like what it was this year-- you couldn't have chosen a better week! We were there 3/5-3/12 and it was the best trip ever. The weather was a little chillier than what we're used to, but that made it much easier to do more in a day. We never waited more than 20 minutes on line, and we didn't have to use Fast Pass until our last day. I think kids arrived for a competition. Weather is iffy, years ago I was there in March and there was a cold front. This year it was mid 70s- low 80s during the day and 60's in the early an and at night.

It might get a bit crowded towards the end but you're in between Feb vaca and Spring Break. Keep in mind though the HCOE has driven up attendence numbers!

We just booked (today!) our accomodation and flights for early March. I think with Easter not being until April, the crowds won't be too bad...at least I'm hoping! A lot of schools tie in spring break with Easter, so we'll likely avoid that! Our break here is the 2nd 2 weeks of March.

We went closer to the end of March a couple of years ago, and even then the crowds weren't too bad.

We are hoping for some heat, though!

Definately hit TL while you're there. Yes it won't be in the 90's but the water is heated, it's warm enough in the day to enjoy it and it's usually not too crowded. You won't regret it!

I think the following week (which is of course when we will be there) will be more crowded due to Texas and Orlando school spring breaks, but I think your week will be fine. Now it will probably be a bit more crowded than Jan, but not too bad.

Thanks for the info. guys! There is so much pressure on me the vacation planner. My husband has a really streesful job and I want everything to be relaxing for him. I am the WDW fan and he loves me so he just comes along for the ride. I figure that the weather has to be better than our last Jan. trip. It was pretty cold but we went to the waterparks twice. :cold: I think there was only about 20 people there. We are from the Boston area so we are pretty tough with the cold weather. One day it was around 40 and raw. ^0-70 would be ideal.
