March 4, 2007 Wonder - Anyone Else?

Not a pro. I wish I were. I actually just started participating on these boards and really getting into Disney over the last couple months while I plan our trip. We just think a lot a like and I happened to have looked into some of the issues you have raised. I also have a close friend who does the Disney cruise or takes his family to Disney every year (sometimes a couple of times a year) and she is a great source of first hand information and expertise on these boards. I just like to help so I pass on what I find. Hope you have a great trip.

We will be there with our Daughter, age 3 1/2 and Son age 7 (almost 8) on March 4-8th as well. It looks like there are so many of us with kids the same age. It excites me to know Bryce and Avery will have lots of friends to hang out with that week! My two are looking forward to the pirate party!! pirate: ::MinnieMo

:welcome: Welcome doodlesmommy. I have 1 DD who is turning 8 on the cruise.

I think I am worse than kids. I am sooooo excited about the trip. I broke my toe and at times, can barely walk, but am still working out everyday to get ready for the trip. I am just not letting anything get in the way of a good trip.

Linda

Thanks Linda! You and me both girl! I've been doing Jazzercise until my brain is sore. LOL... I think I'm looking more forward to this trip than the kids are. We are doing the Land/Sea Pkg. so by the time we get on the ship we'll be ready to relax and unwind.

Is anyone doing the stingray excersion? I'm taking my 8 year old son. I thought it would be something fun and exciting the two of us could do together. Now I'm starting to wonder if I'm crazy for doing so. ::MinnieMo

We are doing the land/sea also. Where are you staying? We are in the French Quarter, we get in on Weds. night.

I have heard the stringray thing is great. They are barbless, in a pin area and very tame. I just couldn't convince anyone in my family to do it and it wasn't high on my list.

Linda

Oh I feel so much more comfortable knowing that. That will make my Son a lot more comfortable as well. He was starting to get nervous. :)

We are staying at the Port Orleans resort. I think those two are right next to each other?? I haven't been to Disney in ages so I'm not 100% sure of that. :smickey:

Anyone ever stayed there? Does anyone have a favorite (fairly inexpensive) restaurant to recommend? We are having a character breakfast, dinner at the castle, etc. but the last night we are there we wanted to take it easy (on the body and wallet).

::MinnieMo

I think I told you wrong, I think it is the Port Orleans we are staying at. It is the one with the dragon slide in the pool. I was actually thinking of taking my daughter (I don't know if my husband will go - he might just sit in the ESPN bar and watch sports) to the Cirque De Sol Disney performance the last night to relax with. Not so easy on the wallet, but Disney won't be.

I was thinking of doing what some of the experienced cruisers/dissers do and that is seeing if we wanted to do some sort of identifiable name tags (a suggestion was go to Home Depot and get the same colored Disney mouse ears paint chips and put our names on it)? Anybody with me on this? I would love to meet the people I have been dissing with.

Linda

Then we are staying at the same hotel! How fun! The name tag idea sounds great. If you decide to definately do it, let me know. We'll join in.
::MinnieMo

I am going to do the name tag thing. I don't know what colors they have, but will probably pick something obnoxious. I will update on the color I get. I think we will be going tonight, DD has a sleep over and it is just us. With a broken toe, no dancing, so probably movie and 1 or 2 shopping stops for more stuff for the cruise.

Sorry, I gave away one of my secrets about me, not only am I obnoxious (or at least my brothers all think so), I also tend to go with bright colors that are easy to see. In fact, at the parks, my whole family (myself, DH and DD) are all wearing bright orange Boise State Fiesta bowl shirts so we are easy to see. My dad gave me that idea growing up, he always wore and orange ball cap (University of Illinois is also orange and blue) and is taller than most men and he was easy to find.:jester:

Is anyone dressing up for the pirate thing? We aren't so much dressing up, but did find some cheap ($1.00 section at Target) pirate stuff, like tattoos, hooks, eye patches, etc.

Linda

You're so funny. You sound like a lot of fun!

I've had some pirate things made for Bryce and Avery. Bryce has a pirate mickey shirt to wear and Avery has a custom outfit made from pirate material with coins hanging off the sash. I make her bracelets and bows so I've made those to match. In fact, I made her try on most of her outfits tonight to make sure everything fits. It looks so cute on her. I'm hoping they either sell or hand out pirate scarfs/bandanas during the party.

For those who want to be identified - amazingly I don't mind if you meet me in person. You may mind after meeting me:lmao: I have picked up the alien green mickey ears paint chip for my family to wear as name tags (you can get those at Home Depot).

Some people also pick those up, cut them out and put magnets on the back for door decorations.

O.K. I have been on this board waaaay to long today, I need to go and get something done.

Linda

Welcome Doodles!!
Linda, we are good for anything that is decided. My wife is finally getting excited about this thing (it's about time) so I'm sure this would be right up her alley.

22 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE - YA HOO! We do the land/sea package so we fly out on the 28th for the land part. I am soooo excited I can hardly contain myself, but at the same time, I feel like I need another month (I don't want another month) to get ready.

We own our own commercial construction company and things are changing with our company quite a bit and I am having to move a lot of my stuff from the outside office back into my home office. Well, the home office has had a lot of room and therefore has also become my "staging" area for trips. With moving stuff back in, it is sooo crouded and so my first goal has been to straighten it out and do my filing and organizing. I think I am about ready to start "staging" my trip.

I am going to start packing (I know it is early and very anal of me). I am doing basically 2 different packings, 1 of my cruise stuff and 1 of my land stuff. This way I can just open my land stuff and not have to worry about the cruise stuff. Sounds like a lot of work, but really it will be easier in the end.

Not much activity on our thread. Is everyone still out there and o.k., excited? I have been watching the thread for the cruise that leaves March 3 for a 7 day cruise and they have almost 100 dissers and 50+ pages. I think we need to get busy. I know we can and it seems to increase the excitement. So, let's hear from everyone.

Linda

Michellepooh and Doug46 are missing also.

Hey, anyone out there?:magnify: Or did the pirates get everyone already? pirate: pirate:

Linda

I'm out here and the excitment is buiding like crazy around here.:cool1: The problem is, the closer we get (and three weeks is not a lot of time :hourglass ) the busier I get at work :scared: to ensure I will be able to get away.

The only updates we have are:

1. The t-shirts I designed and ordered from Zazzle.com all came this week so we are good to go with our Disney character t-shirts. :thumbsup2

2. I saw a tip on another thread that Target sells a bunch of pirate stuff in their doller section. Picked up hats, hooks for the hand, tatoos, swords... for the kids for the pirate night dinner.pirate:

3.Started staging a few things we want to take, but don't use in the winter, and could forget if I don't find them while I am thinking about it (examples, swim goggles for the kids, two way radios, passports, and so much more).

4. Got the Chase Disney Rewards points transferred to a rewards card (came in the mail on Friday).

Other than that, just a lot of dreaming :cloud9: and answering the miliions of questions from the kids.

Hope everyone else is well. I have never gone onto a thread for a cruise other than this one, so I am not sure that those other people talk about.

Hi everyone-

We ship off 4 weeks from today! My whole family is getting VERY excited. :cool1: Just yesterday my DD7 asked me if she could start packing. It's good that she is getting "in the mood" since I need to convince her to start trying on some of her summer clothing and figure out what will work and what we need to get. I told her she could get a new swimsuit for the trip, so I better place my order with Land's End soon.

We decided to do the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau. It's expensive but from what everyone says it's totally worth it. Plus who knows when we'd get the chance to get in the water with Dolphins again. We go to Sea World pretty much every year (either Orlando or San Diego) and love feeding and touching the dolphins on the head, so this should be a blast. The excursion was no longer available through the cruise line (full?) so I booked on our own through Dolphin Encounters.

I spent over an hour on Friday night reading everything on the thread about "favorite cruise tips". (Looks like I better plan on getting myself one of the over the door organizer things to bring.) Lots of great ideas. Definetely check it out if you haven't yet!

Hello Doug46, glad you are doing well.

I can relate to the work thing; it is going to kill me. Like another thread said, "work is highly overrated".

I saw the Target advice also and got some things. Our Target did not have the hats, so didn't get those.

Well, I better get back to the office and cleaning it and doing some bill input, so I can work on more pre-planning this afternoon.

Linda

Hi Paxton's Mom. I thought I was completely organized. Forgot my DD has grown and I need to see what fits and what I need to get her for clothes. Luckily my mom has been buying some things and we swim all winter long (3-4 times a week), so I don't need to worry about swimsuits. But, I am sure most her other clothes don't fit.

Ugh, one more thing for the list.
