Hi Everyone.

Karajeboo, my DD's just got home yesterday from 24 days at sleepaway camp. So they'll be emailing soon. They are very excited about making email contacts before the cruise. Last night my DD had the tv on, the laptop on her lap, and her ipod touch in her had. She was clearly making up for some electronic withdrawal for three weeks! Thankfully today they are playing with friends at the beach so I can do approximately 12 loads of disgusting camp laundry including washing pieces of clothing that clearly do not belong to my children but hitched a ride home in their bags.

Moving on to this cruise....
It would be nice to track the list of people on this board. I see "IAMazing" started this thread, is that person still around????? There hasn't been a post since April, I think.

Also, regarding Cozumel, I see someone was asking about Nachi Cocom. It looks great, but so does Chankanaab Park and Fury Catamaran (which initially I read as 'furry catamaran' and thought it was a catamarn lined with faux fur.) How to decide. It looks like there are many good excursions to choose from at every stop.

Cindy

She and I both started threads and I asked the mods to merge them...... But I will be more than happy to keep up with who is going!!!! I'll also do the FE once we get closer. Froglady was on our last cruise that I did..... Tammi, was it okay???? Don't lie either! :rotfl2: We kept it pretty simple, and then had a DISmeet before sailaway and it was really nice.

We were right after you on the July 10th cruise - perfect timing for us since DD's 16th birthday was on the 14th and we got to celebrate it on CC. :goodvibes

None of us ever used the pool; just couldn't find the time with only one sea day and so much else to see. But they all looked very crowded every time we walked by, and I personally really don't like the way the two family pools are right next to each other. I don't like the set up of the Dream adult pool area either. But those are minor issues - the Dream is a beautiful ship and I'm sure you'll enjoy her.:)

I agree that it's nice to keep track of all the cruisers; I've been keeping my own list but it would be much better to get centralized. Do any of you have any experience setting up websites? For one of our trips a fellow cruiser set up a website for us where she kept a list of all the cruisers (w/pictures of those who wanted to put names with faces before the cruise), the FE information, excursions people signed up for, and cruise meet info. She didn't organize everything herself, she just put all the info on one site for us. It was great and I wish I knew how to do it myself!

Ooooh, I like this! Great idea! I did set up a website once, let me see what I can do.

I'm so sorry guys we had to CanceL the cruise due to price issues ):

So sorry to hear..... :sad1: Hope you can reschedule sometime soon.

I thought our FE was great! I was glad we only had 16 or 17 cabins. It was fun but not too overwhelming like the ones where there are 30+ cabins. Tori doesn't want to do it next year because she said it was so much work but really it is because we didn't decide to join until about 4 weeks before the cruise and I still had all of our door magnets to make. We spent hours making the bookmarks and the magnets for us and to share in our FE gift (and I was really stressed out about getting it all done and would everyone like what we did:confused3).... I tried too hard to do age appropriate stuff and had to go back out for last minute joiners.... I think I'll do it differently next time. BTW - loved the candy bars, and REALLY loved the KTTW-lanyard (so helpful). I used it just a couple of weeks ago when I took my kiddos to a concert.

Would y'all want a facebook group? I have seen where some cruise groups have done this. I will go ahead and create it. If you're on FB, it's called "Disney Magic - March 30, 2012." I made it a closed group so everyone can see it and see who's in it, but nobody except group members can read the posts......

Also, if you have an iphone there is an app for cruise groups. I just downloaded it last night. It's basically a cruise "roll call" app. And there are only 3 roll calls for DCL.

So if you are interested the iphone app is called meetOn Cruise. I'm the only member of our group so you'll see me there!

Since the mods merged our two threads into the other one, I don't have access to change the first post to add members, so let me check with the mods and see if they can change it back to my original post so I can access the first post, and then we can keep up with everyone......

OK, creating website now for us..... gimme a day or so to get it online and updated! :thumbsup2

OK, boys and girls, we are out there!!!!

http://disneymagic033012.webs.com/

On this site I set up a calendar that shows the online check in dates for each level of cruiser, there is a member profile page so we can all "meet" and a few other things. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!!!

kara- the website looks great.:thumbsup2
I just signed up and filled out my profile.
Thanks for doing all this for the group.

Yay! Thanks for setting up the web page and the facebook

We will do the FE again. I also way overdid it the first time and got different things for all the age levels and genders and it got to be overwhelming. The last time was simpler so I enjoyed it more. I ran the FE for a Dream cruise in April so I can email Kara the spreadsheet we used just for comparison sake. We had around 23 families. I had said if we got even one more family I would split the list in half. No way should people have to buy and distribute for 60 cabins, that's wild! (Also the Dream is so big, it would take all day to deliver more than 25 cabins!)

Also, I had one family ask to join two weeks before sail date. I sent her a nice email saying I was glad she was interested but that our cut off date had passed. I told her I would be happy to still add her family to the list if she liked, but that most people had completed their shopping so if she chose to participate they would likely be giving more gifts than receiving and I was sorry there wasn't more I could do but perhaps she could get more involved the next time they cruised. That seemed to work well.

And it's never to early to start the list!!! I already look for ideas when I'm out and about.

Thanks for setting up the website and the facebook group, Kara - they look great! I can see we're all going to be doing a lot of chatting and planning for this cruise, which is terrific, because for me that's half the fun! :goodvibes

I totally agree! I think we set our cutoff at one month out last time, and there was one family that asked to join about a week later - I emailed everyone and they all agreed we could still do it. Then another family a week after that and we all said no. We really need to stick to it. I think less than 20 families would be fine............... But that's about my limit. If we get too large, I have no problem cutting it in half.

I agree!!! For me the planning is so much fun!!!! I think that's why Jeff and I like to plan our trips so far in advance!!!!

Hello everyone!

I am late to post on this thread. When I booked the cruise there was no thread for a while and I didn't want to be the one to start one ;)

Me, DH, DS (17 when we cruise), and DD(14 when we cruise) will be on this cruise. This will be our 7th DCL cruise all on the Magic. We've gone to the Panama Canal and the Med on the Magic in the past. We love this ship!

Can't wait to get to know everyone!

UMTerp

P.S., I'll go check out the website and FB page now.

WooHoo, just purchased one way flights from Detroit to Orlando for $113 pp on Delta. The flight home was too expensive so I'll have to watch for that to come down. But the flight there is the most important anyway. Who cares if we can't get home! Flying in the 29th at noon. Not sure where we will be staying one night yet, probably Radisson at Port. :woohoo:

Congrats - what a great deal! I haven't checked out flights yet but I did reserve a room for the 29th at the airport Hyatt. Got a great rate ($90/night govt employee rate) and we really enjoyed the hotel and the convenience when we stayed there last year.

You're not late - the rest of us are just really early! :goodvibes Welcome to the group!

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the Facebook group? I don't use FB all that much but I know I joined and checked out the page - now I can't seem to find it all. :confused3 You guys can't have kicked me out already - you don't know me well enough yet!

WOW! Hyatt was my other choice - we almost stayed there last time we cruised - but I'm on their website now and I can't get lower than $269/night. Even if I hit govt rate. How are you getting the $90?

Anyone know what happened to the facebook group?
I go on fb every few days and it was there this weekend, but now it is gone:confused3

I made the room reservation in April right after we booked this cruise - rates were MUCH lower then. Can't believe how much the price has gone up and we're still so far out.

I can't find it either!

I couldn't find the FB page either.

I also can't get into the website yet -- says my account is pending. I've confirmed through my e-mail account. Does it take a while?

Sorry, messed up on my earlier post... DD will be 14 when we cruise. Maybe I just don't want her to grow up?!?

We have to fly down the day of the cruise because of school schedules. They are going to miss one day as it is. I wasn't going to book the MV on the Fantasy. Too many problems/drama on MV for me.

Anyone else planning to do excursions on their own? I am thinking that I will.
