You might want to try downloading DING on southwest.com. You will be notified of a DING fare from your area via email alert. Last year we flew from Philly to MCO for $39.00 pp.! We'll keep your family in our prayers... :

Thought I'd just give a quick "Hi" :wave2:, and a much needed bump, to our post!!!! We had moved all the way to page 4 :(

I'm still watching and waiting for a good deal on air fare... so far, the best I can get is still about a $100.00's higher than what I paid last March...

Hope all is well w/ everyone... Our family is in need of prayers, as my mother-n-law is in the hospital battling brain cancer... It has been very heart-wrenching watching her decline, and knowing there is very little we can do ...and then to top it off, we had to put my father-n-law in the bed next to her, due to heart related problems...so we have been spending alot of time at the hospital, in between school programs, getting ready for dance recitals etc.....

:wave2:

ejkjmom,

You are in my thoughts as well. I went through something slightly similar a couple of years ago, balancing two young children (my DD was six months old) and managing care for my mother who was battling, and ultimately lost, her struggle with lung cancer. I know from experience that it seems like you are being pulled in about a million different directions - I am sorry that you are having to go through this.

It might be hard to see now, but times will get better.

You're in our thoughts out west here too. Keep us posted on how both of them are.
We're still looking for good prices for airfare too. It's still up around 350.00 for the cheapest flights right now.

Hey everybody! Can another Kim join in? I'm Kim from CT. DH is Norman and DS is Joshua who will be 12 in July. We've cruised a bunch of times before and are looking forward to a change by going back on the Eastern. We're much better snorkelers now. And, we've found lots of short cuts on the cruise as well as knowing where the best Mickey Bars are!

I'm quite anal and have started an Excel spreadsheet with everyone's names on it (that had been provided). I don't want to jump in and take the thunder from Carolyn. I'd like to be the silent sideline and keep the list? If anyone is interested, you can email me nshabarekh@snet.net. Our link on 2/25/2006 was so successful! We had a great time and our kids were never bored.

Glad to meet you all. This is certainly a diverse group and lots of things going on. My prayers are with ejkjmom.

TTFN!

Kim :)

Hi Kim,
Welcome to the Family. The more the merrier. I will add you to the sign for the DisMeet.
I saw your pages and the look great, though I was wondering who Alana is? Our DD12 is named Alana (hence the screenname) and we don't see too many people with that name.

.

Hi Kim, Norman and Joshua!!
Great to have the 3 of you aboard now too! We are starting to get a nice size group!
Go right ahead and be the Keeper of the List, Kim!I have no problem with that! It sounds like you can also give us less experienced DCL cruisers some good pointers!
Welcome Aboard! :boat:
Carolyn

Hey Kim,

On our last cruise (Feb 06) we had a "keeper of the spreadsheet" who distributed it and really helped us all get to know each other at the DISMeet. So go forth and conquer!

Welcome Kim#2, hereby known as Keeper of the Spreadsheet! :goodvibes

Just for the record, I want to be on the Magic right now rather than eating frozen ravioli and watching "The Wonder Pets" for the hundreth time. I could be at Palo enjoying something much more satisfying while enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Friends are enjoying their first Magic cruise this week - right about now I'm sure they are packing up after a magical second day at Castaway Cay (a double dip cruise!) so I'm incredibly jealous and anxious to hear all about their trip.

Just wanted to chime in since I haven't posted in a while. Johnna

PS - anyone know anyone who wants to work for me??? :confused3 My last assistant walked out on Wednesday without telling anyone. Yep - just left after lunch without even saying goodbye. She'd only been with us 3 weeks... I'm really not crazy  or incredibly mean  - but my husband has started calling me Murphy Brown. :sad2:

I too wish I was onboard now, or on my way there. For a short week, this one had some bumps.

So how many assitants have you gone through this year, Ms Brown?? :rotfl2:

Not that anybody could go through as many as she did.

Okay - you asked... The chronology:

July 05: Assistant left to have baby and move to NYC. She had been with me 2+ yrs. How dare she have a baby??? :teeth:

July 05-Oct.05: assistant-less :(

Oct 05-hire assistant who is doing GREAT! :woohoo:

late Feb 06: Great assistant left to follow old boss for to other firm for better opportunity. :(

late Feb 06-mid-May 06: assistant less AGAIN!

3 weeks ago: Assistant started :woohoo:

Wednesday: new assistant walks out. Obviously, she didn't give off the  vibe when she interviewed. :furious:

Monday: I return to full time status, at least until new assistant can be found. :rolleyes2 :headache: If we don't find someone by July, it will be almost 7 months of the last 12 that I've not had an assistant. I'd better get a great bonus this year.

Needless to say, I may spend even less time on the disboards in the next few weeks. :sad2:

I need a part-time job! Hire me, hire me!!! :yay: :yay: The one problem is that I live in Washington STATE as opposed to D.C.
Oh BTW, what do you do?

I'll hire you! Hi carpooh! I have a business making crates (gift baskets) for cruisers!! I'm sure it would be something we all love, cruising on DCL!! I'll be sending one for myself to the stateroom for March!!!

Just thought that you all would like to see a picture of my assistant-less wife.

Not the most flattering picture, but accurate nonetheless:

Yes - my husband is an a*%hole.

Just kidding honey - love you.
(as I barf behind my back!)

Caropooh - I am a professional development coordinator at a law firm in DC (300+ attorneys) . In a nutshell, That means once attorneys are hired, I make sure they have someplace to sit, a secretary, etc. and that they get get the proper training thoughout their career. A lot of my job is actually planning trainings and events for all the attorneys to get to know each other. That's the most fun part of the job.

Indea - if you have a website, let me know. We ordered a gift basket for our last trip and the kids were thrilled.

Everyone, I'm curious... am I the only one who buys summer clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. with the thought of "this would look great for [fill in any cruise moment here, eg. dinner at Palo, pirate night, touring St. Thomas] so I HAVE to buy it" too? :goodvibes

Hey everyone. I'm finally able to sit down, by myself, not at work and think about responding!

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes. Norm, Joshua and I have so much fun with the planning part that it's hard to believe we can actually have MORE fun on the ship! I love keeping the sheet. Last year those of us who made the neon green Mickey Head paint chips into name tags were able to pick each other out right in the Port Canavral terminal. It made that time fly by. And, the kids saw each other and it took some pressure off the parents to be so watchful - they watched out for each other after a bit.

So, is it too early to start thinking about where to take that snorkel excursion? I'm eager to see St. Thomas/St. John again - this will only be our second turn there. The plan is to get a good snorkel tube that doesn't let water in - we nearly drowned in Cayman in February because the waves were so incredibly high and splashed in the tube. I'm one of those wimply-hold-your-nose swimmers so I don't swim too well.

Carolyn - to answer your earlier question about Alana. She is the ex-fiance of DB. Her name is from her Dad (Al) and her Mom (Lana). It's a lovely name. She was not so lovely to my brother in the end. But, I have to give kudos to DCL. Alana is a serious Celiac and DCL cooked special bread for her, special pasta for her, etc. Most Celiacs stay away from gluten and wheat and just eat proteins, etc. Alana is italian and couldn't so without it. So, DCL was able to provide her with pasta and bread daily which was gluten/wheat free. Let me tell you - they worked that tip and earned every penny.

Okay, I'll never stop. Hope everyone's week is good. One step closer to vacation!!!!!

Ms. Brown - I'd come work for you but I'd probably make YOU quit. LOL

Kim

Kim,I think it is never too early to start planning excursions; nor is it ever too early to buy stuff for the cruise Johnna. I just hope that the evil shrink fairies don't shrink somne of the clothes purchased for the cruise. :rotfl2:

I know there was something else I was going to say, but it escapes me now. So I will end with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROPOOH since today is her birthday party: :cake: :bday: pooh: :eeyore: :tigger: :dogdance: :fish: :cat: :figment:

Well, with ONLY 269 days to go, we're well on our way to a great Disney Cruise.

We have a host for a DISMeet and a Keeper of the Spreadsheet who will help all of us keep our names (and more importantly, children's ages) straight.

There's only one more thing that we need, and that is a Palo brunch in their private room. We did so twice on our last cruise. The way to arrange it is to call Disney directly; you can't do it through the Web site. I think that it's the standard $10 per person charge. But I assure all of you that it is not to be missed. I think that it's better than their dinners.

SO --- if you guys are interested, let me know and I'll investigate when we can make the reservation. And please email me and let me know how many in your party would be attending. If memory serve, I think that the room can hold up to 14 people.

So far, it would be

- Me
- DW (Murphy)
- DUncle
