March 27, 2012 *SPRING FLING DOUBLE DIPPIN DREAM*

I will be cruising with my husband and my 14 will be 15 (when we cruise) year old daughter, who is extremely shy. I would love for her to meet some girls her age before the cruise. I am so excited!

Oh no  I found us all the way back on page 5. Sorry I've haven't been posting lately. The date for reserving our shore excursions for DH & my Alaskan anniversary cruise is coming up in a few days & I've been busy trying to choose what we want to book. Our cruise is in July so I'll get a roster going for this Spring Break cruise hopefully in August.

WELCOME TO ALL WHO HAVE JOINED US SINCE MID FEBRUARY
Glad to have you Aboard!!

Just wanted to say Hi! We will be on this cruise too. We just came off the wonder at the Mexican Riviera and we really missed castaway cay. We are sooo looking forward to spending 2 days there!!!

:welcome: I'm not much of a beach person, but I absolutely love Castaway Cay. Two days there in one week will bill absolute bliss. :thumbsup2

Hi! I've been reading this thread, and now I can actually post as we officially reserved! Luckily, we got in before the price increase.... I looked at prices and the cheapest rooms are more than we paid for our oceanview (the one with the bigger window, the category escapes me now, 8?). We were hoping we could get more family/friends to join us, but unless prices go down (lol) I doubt that will happen.

Anyway, our group consists of two couples in two separate rooms. Myself, my boyfriend, one of my best friends, and her husband. Last year she and I went on our first Disney cruise together (same itinerary, just a 4 nighter so no second day at Castaway) and loooooved it :). So this year we're bringing our boys :). So excited!!

Welcome aboard & glad you've joined our thread. :) After reading your post I had to check the price increases for myself. For 3 adults (DH, me & DS 18) if I booked the cruise today with same room cat it would be about $1000 more! :scared1: That is about a 50% increase & that is scary. :sad2:

:cheer2: Congratulations for booking before the increase.

:boat: Welcome aboard! We're going to be sailing with our son who turns 18 next February. Next Fall he'll be a senior in High School & I had booked a cruise in Oct. but he wanted to wait till he was 18 so he could go to Serinity Bay & Palo. Remy is just too $$$$ for us.

Funny thing is I know when we go to Serinty Bay people will stare at him like he's toooo young because right now he could easily pass for 14. I know it will happen because this last Oct I took his older brother that had just turned 18 & we got the stares & the whispers. Tried to ignore people but it was hard. DS going on this cruise has much more of a baby face.

Hi Sharon... I have just the opposite problem with my son.... he will be 16 in Nov. but he is 6'4 now.... everyone thinks he is at least 18!! Frustrating at times... He is still my baby and always will be!!

Hi Shana, of course it doesn't help either that our DS now 17 is only 5'5". I guess we do have the the opposite problem all the way around.

:idea:I seriously have thought about getting a red t-shirt that says "YES I AM 18" for him to wear on CC days. DS didn't take too much to that idea. :snooty: He doesn't really care what others will think & neither will my DH either. Me on the other hand . . . . I hate the idea that others are so obvious with their thoughts about they think we're breaking the rules when we're not.

Last October when our 18 yo DS went with me for Palo Brunch, the maitre D looked @ my son & asked if he was 18. When I said yes he didn't question it. It's nice to know that at least Disney does try to keep the Adult areas adult only.

Just got of the Dream for our Spring Break cruise this year in March. On board booked 5 day for our Spring Break in 2012.

We actually have 5 total rooms booked.

Will be myself with DW and 3 DS(12/10/6)

my mom and dad

My brother and his wife with 2 children

My sister and her husband with 2 children

Will be our 4th cruise and my parents second(they were with us this spring break)

Will be first for my brother and sister's families on Disney Cruise.

Hi All,

Hope I'm doing this right - trying to do my cruise countdown, register for Fish Extender, & meet others going on this cruise. We are booked on the 5 night Disney Dream 3/27/2012 cruise - myself (Grandma Gerry), daughter Kathy (mom of Sara & Grace), and granddaughters Sara (then age 12) and Grace (then age 9). First Disney cruise for all of us, but myself & daughter have been on many other cruise lines. We had to wait to book to make sure when the girls' Spring Break school was. I am so excited, I can hardly stand it! Kathy & I haven't told the girls yet & are trying to decide when, how, etc.

Our grand plan is to fly in on Sunday 3/25 and spend a couple of days on DVC points at WDW. I own at SSR and will book at 11 months out, but will try to get into savanna AKV 2 bedroom as my daughter & granddaughters have not stayed there yet.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Do you guys post your cabin #'s or what is the procedure? Thanks,

Gerry

Welcome aboard Happy!

My experience has been that someone usually spearheads the FE list and then folks post up room#s & some basic info - Age/gender of participants so you can plan ahead...sometimes names involved, sometimes not - and I sometimes the names info has been by PMs instead of public in case folks want to keep it off the internet...me, I'm all for joining in & know our DDs love it & are looking forward to it...me too :)

So far no one has stepped up to take the lead on this one, and it's probably been because so many folks have been paying attention to the new releases on cruises & ships for the rest of 2012, but I'd imagine the activity should pick up around here soon.....especially since we're less than a year to go :)

Thanks Cobbo. I'm learning as I'm going along here. I get daily digests from a couple of Yahoo talk groups (DVC & Disney Cruise), but will have to remember to keep checking Disboards regularly.

Gerry (aka Happyfoot)

There are 10 of us going on our first Disney cruise, so we are all very excited! We are also interested in the fish extender thing that goes on. It sounds like a lot of fun! Our group consists of four kids (all boys) ages 14, 13, 9, and 7, grandma and grandpa, mom and dad, aunt and uncle.

Wow, Modegard, you have a lot of people in your group! How nice for you. I haven't told my granddaughters yet. My daughter & I are trying to hold off telling them because the cruise is so far away. Then we have to figure out when to tell them & a fun way to do it. I think we will try to make family t-shirts and magnetic door decorations together.

Do the boys in your group know that they are going on this cruise yet? Have you or any of your party cruised before?

Gerry

Yes, the boys know. My oldest has been begging to go on a Disney cruise for years. We usually go to Disneyland every year, but have never been to WDW or on a cruise. My parents have been on many cruises, but never a Disney cruise, my aunt and uncle have never been on a cruise either. We are all very excited! I have started making door decorations and a fish extender with my oldest son, but the others do not know anything about them (including the other adults). Family t-shirts sounds like a good idea! I would love to have something like that the week are are in WDW before the cruise so we don't loose each other in the crowds. ;)

Sounds like you are way ahead of the decoration/preparation game! I have to figure out where I can get one of those fish extenders - ebay, I think. Where did you get yours? My granddaughters love every kind of crafts and I think we will try to make door decorations & t-shirts either over the summer or winter break (depending on when we tell them).

I can hardly wait for March! It seems like so long away. We booked months ago and I know the 5 days we are on the boat will go flying by. I am making my fish extender - so far I have the material - but I have good intentions of getting it done soon. I looked on ebay, but for $30+ and then shipping, I can definitely make one cheaper. I did not like any of the ones I saw either. I have found lots of different instructions on how to make them, but they look fairly simple - a few pockets and backing. My sister sews, so she is going to assist. Once I have it done I will post a photo.

You are so right about the 5 shipboard days flying by! It is getting really hard for me not to say anything to my granddaughters. Almost had a slip of the lip yesterday when I picked them up after school.

Wow - what a great idea for a craft project! I finally checked out ebay & etsy and saw what you are talking about. I sew & think I will attempt this. My 11 y/o granddaughter will LOVE IT and can help me. She has my crafty genes. :yay:

Now the question about how you adhere it to your stateroom door. Read something about "the fish hook outside your cabin door." Is this something that is built on the door or some magnetic/suction thingy that I bring myself? Looking forward to your photo.

The fish extender attaches with a ribbon or something similar to a 'fish' that is a big clip on the wall outside your stateroom door where the cast members can leave you a note or your stateroom bill or whatever. You can search for photos on this forum and you will see many pictures of fish extenders and how they are attached. Some suggest you attach your fish extender with a zip tie because they can go 'missing'. I have found a ton of disney graphics for making magnets for door decorating as well.
