March 27, 2010 - Spring Break with Mickey on the Magic!

I have a question. Will you still be giving Bernard a list of the families on the tour with us? I was just wondering what happens if someone else on the boat books the excursion and Bernard is under the impression that they are all with us? I know I shouldn't worry about it because I am on this trip - but if they don't look at the Disboards and they booked Bernard from past trips -- and he thinks basically everyone is on our bus -- what happens to them??

Yes, he has a list of everyone's last name and number of adults/children associated with each family name for our group.

Sounds great and we save money. Our Disney excursion cost $20 per person more! I can't believe how many of us are going on this, thats great!

The day sounds good to me!! It is coming so quickly, then again not fast enough!!!:lmao::lmao:

A dismeet sounds good to some of us, the time and place have not been agreed upon. Most of the threads with meets that I read about are 3pm in the Promanade Lounge. Is this good??? Lets try it!!

"Topless" is allowed on all beaches on the island. It is not like everyone there is topless but you might see a few around. What is different about Orient Beach is that there is a nude beach at the far end of that beach.

Carol:

First of all, thank you for all of your hard work to make our vacation better! Second, if you look at the cruise reviews, you will find a DIS member review of Le Galion beach with pictures. It looks like a great location, but once again, we are okay with whatever the group decides to do.

My wife and I had a chuckle about the nude portion of the beach, as we visited a place like that before we had kids. I graciously offered to stroll down the beach and report back, but she said I couldn't go without her. :thumbsup2

We'll see you there. BTW, we have friends whose son has autism, so my kids are pretty good with disabled kids, if your youngest wants some more friends.

Thank you, Brian loves making new friends!! He is not really disabled, either physically or mentally. He is actually a very active and inteligent little boy. Did I mention active???:rotfl::rotfl: He is non-stop!! Even when he is sick and coughing his head off, my husband and I joke that if he would just stop running for 2 minutes he would stop coughing!!
Cystic Fibrosis effects his respitory system and digestive system. He needs medicine when he eats meals or snacks. and will get his respitory medicines in the morning and night. As long as he is well that is really all he needs.

This is going to be so much fun! See you at 3!!

Loving the spring weather here in NY!! Kids are out riding their bikes and almost all of the snow has melted!!:yay::yay:

I spent a good part of this morning printing out our magnets!! I think I have enough and then I'm not sure!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

It seems like you all have been getting to know one another already...I signed up a while ago, but haven't been very active with the group since it's all new to me. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise--the last was Nov '08 for our daughter's Make-A-Wish trip. It's hard for us to plan excursions that our daughter can participate in, so we're planning for my DH and DSx2 to go on one and me and my DSx2 on another. Any recommendations for what to do with a wheelchair-dependent teenager who requires total care (like an infant.)? Is it best to stay on the ship, do you think? An easy beach nearby port? Ideas?:confused3

I'm sooo happy to see sun and feel warmth. Thoughts of all the snow melting away. Still have a lot in the back yard, but crocus are blooming in front lawn:thumbsup2. Getting closer and closer, starting packing list... finishing FE gifts... magnets, done.... I can see that lounge chair!

I don't have any firsthand experience, but I did some research on cruisecritic.com and here's a thread that talks about good beaches for wheelchairs in St. Thomas, sounds like you can take one of the open taxis from the port to the beaches: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=802280& and here's a link to a tour company there that has specially designed tours for those in wheelchairs: http://www.accessvi.com/tours/tours.htm

I think that in St. Martin you could also hire a taxi to take you to Orient Beach or one of the other beaches. But staying on the ship on a port day when everyone else is gone is also a wonderful experience! Quiet and relaxing. I hope you find something to do that you can all enjoy!:goodvibes

I know our bus is full - but this is a quote from Bernards website:

Q. Are the buses equipped to handle handicap people with walkers or wheelchairs?
A. Yes. We are equipped to handle walkers/wheelchairs but not able to accommodate scooters.

You can contact him directly at bernardstours.com and see if he has anything available for you.

Do people dress up like pirates the day of the Pirates of the Caribbean show?

Some people "go all out"! pirate:and some might just sport a bandana or a little pirate attire and some don't dress up at all. It is really up to your family how much or how little you want to get into the theme.

Do people dress up like pirates the day of the Pirates of the Caribbean show?

Some people are all decked out in their finest pirate attire, adults and kids alike!! I got everyone in my family a pirate themed shirt and they have the bandana's. We are not big costume people.

Do people dress up like pirates the day of the Pirates of the Caribbean show?

We do. I have a Jack Sparrow costume and wear it on the cruises. I have a wig too but am leaving it at home since its hard to travel with. The rest of the family just wears pirate shirts
