I know it’s early, but there must be at least a few others out there who’ve already booked this cruise!

Our little group is me, DH, and DD (13). We have a Cat 6 on Deck 5 aft (thanks to fellow DISers for the tip on an excellent location!). We are really looking forward to this trip because although we’ve cruised before, this will be our first visit to the Caribbean. And can’t wait to finally get to Castaway Cay!

Well this is my plan to be on this cruise. We had a great trip to WDW planned for this June and hubby got a no notice deployment so we had to cancel. No other opportunities to travel until Spring Break next year.

we just did a 3 day wonder and got off the boat on Easter. Ready for better ports and 3 sea days on that fabulous ship and a return visit to the fabulous Castaway Cay!

Sorry you had to change your vacation plans, but glad you may be on the cruise with us! Despite the fact that it's spring break for a lot of people this cruise doesn't seem to be filling up very fast; prices haven't changed since I booked back in October. Maybe the prices will actually come down? (I know, not likely, but I can dream, can't I? :goodvibes)

We are military so I can wait and see what if any deals are closer to the cruise.

Kim

Hello from Arizona! We're booked for a Cat 11 for this cruise. It's our second DCL cruise. We're military as well, so we're hoping for a mil rate as well.

Hi and welcome aboard!

You wouldn't happen to be at Ft. Huachuca, would you? DH and I were DoD civilian employees in Germany for a long time and it seemed like half the people we knew left Germany for Sierra Vista!

DH and I will be cruising with you all and if the mil. discount comes through so will my cousin's family, and my brother's family. We booked in 2008 and this will be our 4th cruise. We can't wait!

DH
ME Our 4th Eastern cruise
DB Fam's 2nd Eastern cruise
DSIL
DN1 14
DN2 9
Cuz Fam's first cruise!
Cuz's DH
their DD 9

Crossing our fingers for lower rates and discounts!

Hi and welcome! We booked in 2008 too - the anticipation is fun but it still seems sooooo long until March. I see you've done the Eastern a few times already (lucky you!) so hopefully you can give us some tips on what not to miss in port.

Sorry for the late reply! We're not at Ft. Huachuca. We're a Phoenix area National Guard family. I (DH) have been to Germany a couple of times for exercises though.

Being out here in the west, we will probably book a 2011 date as soon as they are available and see if we can get some onboard credits when we are on the ship next March. Do you guys have any such plans?

Also, how have you been doing on airfare? The best we can come up with is USAir and using $99 vouchers for the kids.

My daughter and I had a wonderful trip to Disneyland last week, but unfortunately I came back with an unwanted souvenir - the flu  Despite the Tamiflu prescription it really knocked me out for a few days; fortunately I'm starting to feel better.

I have not even taken a look at airfare yet; I have everything booked thru DCL right now. As we get closer to final payment date I'll see what I can work out on my own. It's nice to have Disney take care of everything but I'm not sure how much more I'm willing to pay for that.

We're planning on doing the exact same thing you are on the 2011 booking - book the first day they open and then see if we can get a better deal on board with the on board booking discount. Really looking forward to having the Wonder out here!

The flu got 3 out of 4 of us on our way back from our cruise on the Wonder this past March. It cleaned my clock too! Get better since we have plenty of time to sort out March!

We just got back from a Mexico cruise on RC's Mariner of the Seas. It was a nice ship and we had a lot of fun but it just wasn't Disney - I missed Mickey! :mickeyjum

Now I can focus on our DCL cruise - less than 8 months to go!

Hi there,

We'll be on this cruise. We booked it while on our first cruise last October. We were on the Wonder for a 4 night cruise -- apparently we liked it cause we signed up for more! :)

Going will be me, DW, DS (13) and DS (10)...and all of the DS games my boys can fit in their bags.

I'm really looking forward to this trip even though it is so far away. I hope to have my scuba license by then and really get away for a while. Somehow I think the boys will find me even under water though.

Any other Hoosiers going on the trip?

Hi, IndyStarGazer!

We booked last October too, and back then it seemed like forever until March 2010. But 10 months down, only 7 to go!

BTW, I've always wondered - what exactly is a "Hoosier"? :)

March is still a pretty long way off, so I'm glad to see this thread. I was so amazed when I saw that you had started it last October! :thumbsup2

We loved our trip on the Wonder but it was over too soon. DW and I both felt like we hardly got to explore the ship. I'm really looking forward to having several days at sea on the Magic! Hopefully the boys will feel the same...

Hoosier basically means anyone who lives in Indiana. We got a pretty good laugh out of a political radio ad last spring that was trying to sound like a local ad. It was from some political action committee and said something like "Indianans know that....". We never use "Indianans" or "Indianians" or "Indianites" so it was pretty obvious it wasn't local! Someone must have gotten word to the politicians, because the next day the ad had been re-recorded to say "Hoosiers know that...".

No one is really sure how "Indianans" became "Hoosiers." There are a lot of theories. One I've heard a lot is that when you walked up to a cabin in Indiana you were supposed to say "Hello the cabin!" and someone inside would say "Who's here?" Over time that got slurred into "hoos-ere". Another claims that there was a business man named Hoosier. A crew of his men went to work on a job in Missouri (or Ohio or Kentucky) and everyone started talking about those hard-working "Hoosier men". :confused3

I for one just think it sounds better than the other choices so I'm all for it!

I've never been to Indiana but now at least I'll know what to call the locals! :thumbsup2 The "Indianans" story reminds me of all the politicians that came to Nevada for the elections last year. They kept saying "Neh vah dah" which drove us all crazy. (It's Ne VAD a.)

I'm sure your boys are going to love the Magic. My daughter loves cruising, although I think that's probably mainly due to having so much freedom on the ship to be away from her parents.

I finally started checking out airfares - flying across country during spring break is expensive!

We were thinking about doing this cruise but have not made a reservation yet. We were on the Western Magic back in May. The seven day cruises are great. We probably won't decide untill later in the year around Nov.. We reserved a GTY 12 in May for $599 and got upgraded to a Cat. 9 with a view, so we will wait and see if the prices drop.
I will check in every now and then.

I hope you end up joining us, tigger2002! With the "kids cruise free" specials that have come out for the early 2010 Wonder cruises I am holding on to hope that maybe we'll eventually see some discounts on our Magic cruise. Prices have not gone up at all since booking opened in Oct 2008, so they aren't filling up very fast. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!
