March 27, 2010 - Spring Break with Mickey on the Magic!

Hi all!

We are Going as Well!! We have 3 of us sailing Me (Jeff),Wife (Amy), and our Son (Cole) 7. Hope to meet lots of friends on the cruise!! This cruise will be our 4th and our sons 1st, he is so excited!:woohoo:

See Ya Real Soon!!

:welcome::welcome:

Glad you are joining us. Are you interested in the FE exchange?? We had agreed on a 2/28 cut off.....but just let us all know ASAP!

Tomorrow is March!!!! We sail in March!!!! Yeah!!!!

We are very excited! Is there lots of cruisers from this site going? Has anyone been to Maho Beach on St Maarten? Can we get to it from the cruise docks? We would love to see the planes land over the beach,we have been told it is awesome!

Welcome! Glad you found us! Several of us are doing an independent excursion with Bernard's Tours in St. Maarten, and he does a stop on Maho Beach. It's $35/person for a 6 hr tour and he comes highly recommended from other cruisers on Cruise Critic. But if you just want to go to Maho Beach I don't think it's difficult to get there on your own; check out the St. Martin thread on Cruisecritic.com for more info.

Hi LV Disney Fan--I'm happy to take any day for the FE...if it's a port day, I just may not deliver until late at night!

It will just be the one stateroom (could be 7130 or 7132 as I may trade with my parents) with:
myself Patti
DD 11 Emma
DS 7 Alex
DD 6 Sophie (she'll be 6 by then anyway!)

Technically my son is in the stateroom next door with my parents, but he would be so sad if his sisters participated and he didn't!

I'm going to order one of those cute FE's with the kids' names on it from ebay!

Sounds like such fun! Thanks so much for organizing us!!

It's fun to read everyone's plans for port days...I have some catching up and research to do so I can book some things asap!

I mentioned the FE's to the other new group b/c I was not sure you would be back on last night, and to let everyone know ASAP. Thanks for taking your time to organize all of this!!!:thanks::thanks::thanks:Did I mention:thanks:

Now I will be late for work again!!!! GOtta run!!! have a great day everyone!!

How do we go about reserving space for the tour? It definitely sounds like something we would be interested in :0) Thanks so much for sharing!

I had to email him but there is a link through his website:
http://www.bernardstours.com/

I think there is a reservation form you can complete -- it wouldn't work for me - so I filled out the form and then copied/pasted the form in an email to him. You pay when you get there - so you don't have to worry about a deposit now. I am very excited -- I can't wait!!!:woohoo:

yeah, more of us on Bernards Tour! Maybe we'll just all take over it!
My son (who will be 8) is also very excited to see the planes.

Are any of you all doing the Bernards Tour have little children? It sounds really nice to have a great feel for the island but not sure how our 21 mo old grandson would do? - anyone knowing about the tour have any thoughts on that?

Also, to answer the FE question (quoting from LV Disney fan):

"Basically, it’s like a “secret Santa” gift exchange, where everyone who wants to participate brings a little gift to put in others’ fish extenders. Last time we got items ranging from pencils, postcards, stickers, and candy to intricate homemade crafts. As simple or as elaborate as anyone wanted to get – everything was appreciated and it was really fun to see what you’d find in the FE every day." (I don't know how to attach those quote like you all do, sorry!)

She is organizing it for us. If you look on page 1 of this thread you can see all the people signed up for it. Also, if you look under the DCL FAQ sticky on the cruise forum board, it links to instructions and great pics on FEs. Hope this helps. It will be lots of fun! I am sure others on here can explain better than I!

Wow, lots of activity today - happy to see it!

Thanks! I am happy to organize the FE for us, but it's definitely a group thing so feel free to invite all our fellow cruisers! :goodvibes

What exactly is an FE exchange?

Carol already gave you an idea of what it is, but you can check out post #90 on page 6 of this thread for some photos and a little more info.

I used the link ybcart7 provided. Bernard answered right away.

I actually think this might be a good idea if enough people want to do it. We could get Bernard to put us all in the same van; it would be fun to have a semi-private tour of just DISers! :thumbsup2

Carol, I'm sure your grandson would enjoy the planes at Maho Beach and the Orient Beach time, but not sure how he'd like the sightseeing and shopping parts. You can check out Bernard's website for the exact itinerary.

We cruise this month!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

That tour does look like fun. I think the itin might be ok for GS - after the beach, he might be sleeping by time the shopping fun begins! Anyway, I will check w/ DH, DS & DDIL but it sounds like something we might be interested in if we could get a DISer van going! Not sure how many already signed up or how many vans hold but there would be 4 of us plus GS if we are able to go.

If anyone wants to coordinate a van for the Bernards tour, could you PM me your last name that your reservation is under and I will let him know to try to put us all on the same van? Thanks! Carol

Excellent! I'll be sending you a PM shortly. Thanks for doing this!

I have not booked any excursions for St. Maarten yet and the Bernards tour sounds good!! I was going to book, but my only reservation is the beach and their statement about Orient Beach being a fully nude beach:scared1:

I'm not ready for my 8 yo DD to experience a fully naked male!! I'm really not!!! :scared1::scared1: It also said that for families their is another beach....anybody but me have concerns???

The whole beach is not nude. There are sections, and if you tell Bernard that you do not want to go to the nude section he will take you there. Some areas are more family friendly than others, as is my understanding from reading cruise critic, trip advisor, and friends who have traveled there. From what I've seen he is a good guy and very cooperative with families.

Yay - our first Caribbean cruise! :cool1: :cool1:

Who else is going? Let's start chatting and planning!
