March 26, 2011 - Eastern Caribbean Magic and FE Exchange!

Can y'all believe that we are so close!!!!!! Two weeks from today!!!!!

I know.....AHHHHHH!!!!:cool1::rotfl2::banana:

Went and bought a few more fe gifts. :) Now I gotta figure out the logistics of getting everything packed, etc. Gonna print out the packing list today and start packing what I don't need immediately over the next couple of weeks.

So get this- hubby tells me today- "Honey you wrote the wrong days on the calendar for the vacation." I said....No, I didn't. Double-checked and it was correct on our family calendar. So then he proceeds to tell me that he had put in for the wrong leave dates!!!:scared1: Says it shouldn't be a problem to fix though. (What happened is a month or so ago, the school website's calendar had a computer goof and had accidentally moved the Spring Break dates to a week later. Well, when I was talking with him at work, I wanted to be sure he had the right dates and he kept cutting me off- "I got it, I got it! I pulled the dates off the school website" Well, the dates were wrong, but he didn't want to listen!! Ugh...Anyhow, but he should be able to get it fixed.) Can't have a magical vacation without a little drama!!:rotfl:

Almost done my FE shopping! I have two girls and I am at a loss what to get the older boys! If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would appreciate it! :thumbsup2

Also, I hate to bring this up, but ...has anyone had a problem with bed bugs on a cruise? I know it has been really bad in some hotels around MD/VA. Just curious!

Thanks!

Just finished putting together part of our FE gift. My husbands comment - "We are going to need a whole bag for these gifts".

Drama makes it so much more fun!!!! :rotfl2: And seriously, why won't they just listen? "Jeff, you need to get your passport" (back in October), and of course y'all know all about THAT drama!

I feel the same way!!!!! Jeff was in Vegas last week on business and when he walked in my office Friday afternoon (I work from home) he looked at all my FE stuff all over the place and said, "What the he!! is that?" :rotfl2:

Don't let my boys stress you out :goodvibes !
They would be happy with gum or candy! Seriously, even if they didn't get anything, they understand and are fine with it! With so many siblings, they understand that sometimes things are for the little ones. I do appreciate you thinking of them, though :)...thanks!

Does anybody know what movies are playing?

We also heard some weeks have tendered in St Thomas lately...Any updates?

I read somewhere about someone giving comic books for the teen boys. I am giving some 'creepy' candy for the teen boys as well. When I gleaned (sp?) over one of the FE gifts threads, pretty much the consensus was candy, gum, food for the movies, etc. You can also get glow sticks at the dollar store too. Also, there's plain chapstick too...I remember reading the teens appreciated that as well.

So Dan double-checked today and said he actually already had the right dates on his calendar for leave. He apologized for blaming me and said he 'owed me one'. Now back in the day, that lead to much more exciting exploits.;) Today I made him to go Walmart to go shopping....:rotfl: I'd say we're even.

As far as which movies will be playing...I am also very curious on that as well. Hubby was deployed when Toy Story 3 came out so he's been holding out watching it (I took kids to see it) until the cruise. Hopefully it will still be on!! I figure "Mars Needs Moms" will probably be playing, but I hope it doesn't trump TS3 or "Tangled" which none of our family has seen either. I'll see if I can find any newer Navigators on the board.

FE gifts are FINISHED!!!! Standing up like little soldiers in my office just waiting to be packed and loaded! Now to figure out where to put them!!!! :rotfl2:

I thought that St T was a tender and St M was a dock? :confused3

As for movies, I'm really hoping for TS3 and Secretariat. We've held out on both of them!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Isn't that the truth!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We will be docked at St. Thomas. I found a site (can't locate it right now) that shows where the ships dock. The Magic does have to tender there some weeks, but not our trip.

We are First time cruisers from just outside Chicago. DW and our 2 DS (12 and 10) are anxious to get on the ship. The kids just finished their state standardized testing period and are in need of a truly deserved break. The FEs sounds like a fun thing to do, but we are late to the game, but we look forward to meeting many people, especially the kids. One hint to those who have never taken their kids on a cruise before...DO NOT watch Titanic before the cruise...it only leads to an endless stream of questions about how safe ships are.

Today 09:08 AM

WELCOME!!:banana::cool1: And thanks for the tip...LOL! I'll stick to "Finding Nemo" for now. ;)

It sounds like we have a wonderful group going. :thumbsup2 I am starting to get in the panic mode...I have sent myself 4 emails now on what to bring, get done before the trip even starts, etc...:rotfl:

Welcome to our group. I have two boys - one will be 10 in April and the other just turned 7.

We are having a DISmeet on 3/26 at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge - please come say hello.

Welcome!!! :goodvibes That is some good advice about the movie..... for me as well as our DD! :rotfl2: I'm already nervous about being out at sea with no land in sight (and the recent tsunami has just added to my fears! :scared1:).

Kristi beat me to is but yes, we are going to try to meet the day we board the ship at 3pm in the Promenade lounge so hopefully you can join us! It seems like we have a good group going!

Hi Everyone!
I'm finally able to log in and and post!! Our family will be joining you all on this journey, and I'm looking forward to every minute!! We're also from northern Ohio and our winter has been brutally long, so this spring break trip is going to be well deserved. This is my 3rd Disney cruise and if you've never been before, you are in for a real treat! We have two sons 17 and 13. The 13 year old is very concerned he will be with "little kids," although I've assured him there will be other 13 year olds...The older one loved the teen program 4 years ago when he was on the younger end and is looking forward to the group again. The counselors are usually outstanding. I know I haven't been on the board very long, but would still like to attend the meet if that's okay. Always fun to meet other cruisers! Anyone flying out of Cleveland around 7:00 Friday?

I wouldn't worry too much about being out to sea- no land, etc. Have you seen the video on youtube of the guy DCL rescued? It was at night- he had jumped from Carnival boat (I think it was??)...and DCL rescued him! :thumbsup2 Besides, I promise I won't be like Kate Winslet and hog that piece of flotsam all to myself....:rotfl:;)

Oh and speaking of lifeboats ;), did you know that Disney had to get special permission to have them painted yellow (instead of the usual orange) so it would match the yellow/red/black of the boats? (Or is that a deep navy on there?)

Welcome! I am from Twinsburg. We are actually flying out of Pittsburgh on Friday. I was able to save about $300 and we are from that area, so we know the airport well.

Have you done the Eastern cruise before?

"Hello" to the new people on this thread. :welcome:

postel...It sounds like my oldest two will be in the teen club with your sons! My 16 year old is actually a junior in high school, but is one of the younger ones in his class (late May birthday). He had a lot of fun in the club two years ago, as it was the first time he's ever had that much freedom AND be allowed to be out that late :)!

We are planning on meeting everyone in the lounge that first day. My husband is even looking forward to it! See you all soon :cool1:!

Welcome postel!!!:cool1::banana:

And, hey, Lee is tweeting about the cruise again:

"So, any Tweeps going on the Disney Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean next week?"
about 7 hours ago via Twitter for Mac

(and since I don't 'twit' or 'tweep' or really do anything that starts with a 'tw' I can't respond to him. Besides-does he really want to know about us crazies cruising with him? ;) Seriously though, geek that I am, I am eager to hear what he has to say about any upcoming Pixar/Disney stuff.:thumbsup2
