March 26, 2011 - Eastern Caribbean Magic and FE Exchange!

Hello everyone! Just found this thread.

We'll be on this cruise, too! We're first-time DCL cruisers--myself, DH, DS10, and DD7. DH and I have been on another cruise line and have been to Jamaica before (two separate vacations) and it's all new to the kids--the Caribbean, cruising, etc. We get more and more excited every day that goes by! :jumping1: Sounds like Disney makes things really awesome!

We're booked for a 9C-GTY room but haven't gotten a room assignment yet since we called and upgraded from 10B. I've been checking and checking twice daily anxiously awaiting our room assignment. :yay:

Anyway, I've been reading and reading and reading these DISboards and making a packing list and going a little bit crazy with the whole thing, but... it's keeping me going! It's soooo cold here in Colorado I CAN'T WAIT to be cruising the Caribbean! :cheer2: I don't even remember what life was like pre-DCL-booking! :lmao:

Welcome!! I am from Parker, CO. Where are you from (if you feel like sharing)?

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm from New Castle, CO, right outside of Glenwood Springs. :goodvibes

My dad grew up and lived most of his life in Rifle. I grew up in GJ, then moved to the big city. It's snowing here.... 2+ inches so far, I thought we were warming up. Can't wait to see blue blue ocean......

Our situation is very similar in that this is all new to our DD, but Jeff and I have also been to Jamaica twice. None of us have every cruised before and I'm afraid we are going to be spoiled for any other cruise line after this!!!!

We love all things Disney (although Jeff is in CA this week and called to tell me he just drove by Disneyland and how much he thinks I'd be disappointed), and when we lived in FL, we spent a LOT of time at WDW (34 days last year!!!).

I also have the packing list (things not to forget!) and I will probably begin actually packing the first of March. I was always like this with week long trips to WDW, too. There are just too many things I MUST have to make my trip that much more special. I am a big proponent for the pop up hamper, and the over the door shoe holder. Also, bathroom spray :scared1: and a new scent of shower gel from Bath and Body Works so that when I get home and use the same scent, it will remind me of the trip!!!!

Of course I will overpack my clothes and shoes. It's what I do......

I'm sure you'd love it...I found it charming that you can take a shuttle the Sheraton Anaheim and two minutes later poof you're at the main gate, the scope is just so smaller. But Disneyland and California Adventure are wonderful, can't wait to go back again some day.

frazzlemommy added to FE on p. 13! :goodvibes

Thank you for adding me! I'm so excited about this! I got my FE ordered and I'm already ordering prizes! This is so much fun! :yay: I'm a first-timer FE participant.

...just wondering, for ordering purposes: At what point will we know exactly how many people are participating? :confused3 Do you guys normally just sort of guess and round up? Looks like right now there are 53 people, 27 male, 26 female, 13 families, 26 adults, 27 kids. Hopefully I counted that all right (please let me know if someone notices that I'm incorrect). I don't want to way over- or under-order. Are there many who sign up last minute?

Guess maybe I need some opinions and advice from seasoned FE participants. I think I'm WAY over-thinking this! :lmao: It's just too much fun!

This morning I drove my son to school at an average speed of 20 mph because of all of the snow and slush. They called for an inch, and we got more like 4-5 inches with another 8-12 inches predicted for tonight. I was in such a bad mood, and then I remembered.....

2 months from today we will be setting sail on our cruise!!!!! :yay::banana::cheer2::woohoo:

I've only done this once before, but I remember several people signing up pretty late when I did it two years ago. I think some people watch the thread and just don't know if they will have the time to participate, even though they want to, and then decide at the last minute "I'm gonna do it!" :cool1: I am embarrassed at how long it took me to deliver our stuff to the cabins last time. Someone in our group was even nice enough to make a map, which was very helpful, but I still managed to get turned around :)

karajeboo...Are you doing the 5k run at Castaway Cay? Anyone else? I was looking up past threads about it, and thought I ran across your name! My husband and I are planning on giving it a try :scared1: We are not runners, but are trying to be in the next two months!

I really really wanted to, and may still, but it's been unusually cold around here so I haven't been out since early December..... I was hoping to get a treadmill for Christmas but that didn't happen :confused3 so I don't know if I'll be up to speed or not.

Plus, since I've started taking Zumba class, I've had a HORRIBLE time with acid reflux. I mean, waking up at night with horrible burning, etc. Doctor thinks my hiatal hernia is affected by the exercise. In fact, I'm researching what I can do to make this better because right now it is miserable to the point of me thinking very seriously of having the surgery to fix the hernia.....

I was hoping that the Zumba and other cardio I've been doing would keep me fairly fit so I could jump back into running. Now I'm not so sure.....

Only 57 days!!!!!

:cheer2::yay::woohoo::rockband:party::jumping1: :jumping2: :jumping3::ccat::donald:

Has anyone been to the Caribbean this time of year? I just read another thread about it being nice but the water possibly a little chilly at the beginning of March. Since we're into late March/early April I'm hoping it will be nice and warm water...??? I hadn't thought about it up until now! :scared1:

I have never been to the Caribbean, but I did read the weather is usually in the 80's ish and water can be a little chilly first part of the day, etc. But ya know, we were in Florida in December year before last and we had 90 degree weather!

Question about the 5K....do you get a t-shirt or anything if you complete it? Just curious because we've done several runs (I run as much as I can- haven't built up to a complete running 5K yet), anyways, and we usually buy a t-shirt that only completers can get, etc. Would be so cool to have a CC
5K t-shirt. :)

I've been to Jamaica twice in May and the water is very warm then, so I can only imagine it will be nice.

From what I read, you get a water bottle........ I'm still toying with the idea, but I have a friend who is sidelined from running, doc told her that running is just so hard on the body that all the jarring can cause big problems, so I'm kind of moving away from it. But I do think running the CC5K would be awesome!!!

Oh, and we are in 6648!

I was thinking about doing the CC5K too. I am not a runner, but have been working with a trainer since early December and he's recently started me jogging. I thought it might be fun to try, but I'm going to wait and see.
