March 22, 2012 Dream SSMC Reunion AKA "It's all Gary's Fault" Cruise

Chris - so sorry to hear about your loss. That is wonderful that you have had them all in your life for so very long. I know you will have many happy memories that will help on the sad days.

Hi Eveyone. I'm still around Dianne - just still very, very tired from our trip. Seems like I just can't catch up this time. And then we had two very late nights this weekend. Ughhhhh.

Last night was a great/sad night for us. The great part was that Becca was presented with a $1,000.00 scholarship from the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Iowa. Which Bobby has been a long time member of and my Grandpa was one of the original military men that started this association. We were so very happy that Becca was chosen for this honor. My Grandpa would have been so proud to know that one of his great grandchildren received this scholarship.

And then the sad part is that my Grandma, to the above mentioned Grandpa, passed away about 7:50 last night. Which we all knew was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier. She was my last living Grandparent. She was 90 years old and lived a very long and happy life. I have been so fortunate to have known three of my Great Grandparents, all four of my Grandparents, and to have had one of them for as long as I did, is really amazing.

I am also happy and sadden by your news, So happy for Becca.. I know this has been very hard on you to lose your grandmother. I only got to know my grandmothers, never knew my grandpas, whish I had. You are very lucky to have known your great grandparents also. I don't know much about mine and mom dosen't seem to remember much about that she was the youngest of 7.

I think of my grandparents and dad often, Dad will be gone 20 yrs this June.

Mary-Sounds like you had a great Birthday trip. I don't do motion simulated rides either and skipped Harry Potter ride as well, Tanya and the girls liked it alot.

Yes many of us are DVC Members who met on previous DVC Member Cruises. SSMC stands for Sailing Ship Member Cruise. So if you see SSMC11 that stands for the 2011 DVC Member Cruise.

Thanks Dianne! Yes, we've traveled without the kids before. Last year we went on the Magic for our 40th birthdays and had a BLAST. People thought we were nuts for cruising DCL kidfree but it was awesome. We are definitely looking forward to it again! The kids are so SAD that they are missing out on the Dream but oh well! They get a week with Grandma instead.I know, she doesn't have an Aquaduck.

We don't have any plans beyond this cruise either for the Dream, planning for Aulani in early 2013. We have never been able to do the SSMC since I'm a teacher and it's during school.
