:wizard: Congrats Lisa & Dave! :cheer2:

OK so here's my surprise story - not as good as Sharon's but:

We had already planned a trip to WDW in January of last year for 5 days staying at BWV. Thought we would go down for a long weekend at MLK day and for DH's birthday. (big mistake - it was very crowded)

DS kept asking is he could bring a friend, since he'd be the only kid on this trip. Since he is getting older now, we thought, why not. So he asked his one good friend, and we thought he was going. This was back in the October prior to the trip. Then after a week or so, the mom came back and said no he wasn't going to be able to come. DS was very disappointed, and I told him well maybe next time it would work out. He let it drop.

In the meantime, I went to the parents of another good friend, and asked them if they thought their son would be interested and if they would let him go. They were very excited about the idea, especially since the boy had NEVER been to WDW before. So we set our plans up! We were not going to tell DS that we would in fact have a friend along for the trip, and they didn't tell their son that he was going.

We decided that since the trip was close to Christmas, we would spring it on them then. My friend is quite creative, and she went through and wrapped a whole series of gifts that had something to do with the trip - like a small model airplane to represent his flight, etc. We wrapped up a "certificate" that we had made on the computer that entitled the bearer to bring one "BD" (the friend) along on the trip!

We coordinated a time on Christmas morning so that one didn't open the surprise a lot sooner than the other and ruin it. As soon as they each opened their gifts, they were on the phone to each, excited beyond words!!

It became even funnier when the other boy thought that his mom and dad were just wrapping up things about the summer scout trip (when they were going down to WDW with our English scouts). He didn't realize at first that it was a different trip and was apparently pretty depressed that all he was opening was the summer deal he already knew was coming! When she finally said, no, silly this is a trip with Dustin in three weeks - he jumped around the living room for five minutes!!!

They had a wonderful time on the trip, DH especially because he LOVES taking first-timers and showing them everything!!

Sue - I love your story!! Of course I'm a sucker for a good surprise story. Anyone else have one? Please do tell!! :goodvibes

Ha!! I think we must have been working on posting at the same time- that is an AWESOME story!!! I can't believe that it got that far into it!! :rotfl:

Thanks guys - I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is a great memory for our family.

When we first decided to keep it a surprise, we had no idea of how far we could take it. First I get all excited & can barely keep it in & did have some slipups that I was able to recover from. Then we also had never been on a Disney Cruise before so I had never experienced check in & all that.

All I had to go on was what I had read here on the boards. That's how I scored the SPH rooms & how I knew that I didn't need to have the boys with me @ check in. I figured once we got to the port that would be the end of the surprise especially with the boys peeking out to see what we were doing. Like I said before here on the boards I had never heard of anyone actually getting onto the ship without their kids knowing they were going on the cruise. I was amazed at each hurdle we jumped over. After lunch I thought that we might make it all the way to the stateroom & we did. I'm sure we're not the only ones to do that & I hope I get to hear somesone elses story about how they made it to their stateroom too or :worship: to Safety Vest Drill!! :)

Allen & I will probably never be able to pull off such a big surprise as that
ever again.

Have a great day everyone!! :goodvibes

Thanks Everyone!!! I was going crazy that no one was checking in this morning. :scared: Dave helped me out. :thumbsup2 My brain wasn't functioning to well this morning because I didn't get too much sleep past two days. I couldn't remember the names of things at WDW.

Good Morning Everyone!

Wow, I get up a little late today and look what happens!! :rotfl2:

DS has off today for election day, and had to get friend off to go home to Michigan. DS went to work with DH, so I finally have the house to myself! Well, not for long, it's a "mom" day and she has a doctor's appt. today plus hairdresser. But I have a whole 40 minutes on my own . . . yippee! :)

It's very chilly here today, with frost on the windshields! Brrrrrr!

I was trying to catch up on the posts. That was a really cool story, Sharon. And I liked all of the guesses. I have one that's not quite as good as that one, but it was fun.

Chris, I was asking where you were because DH and his scouts are planning a canoeing trip out to the Boundary Waters and doing some touring and he mentioned going thru Iowa, and I said, hey, wait a minute - we now know someone in Iowa - you could all stop there!!! I'm sure you wouldn't mind about 10 boys on the floor and breakfast for 16!! :lmao:

Dave, we were seriously thinking of staying at the Radisson the night before, especially since I think we will be driving this time (maybe). A pre-cruise celebration would be nice!

That is an interesting idea. Let's all think about this....the parents of two teenage girls agreeing to a sleepover with 10 teenage boys. Hmmm.. interesting, very interesting. :lmao::lmao:

Sue - That is a great story too. Love it!

I am always thinking of ways to try and surprise the kids. The look on their faces is so magical.

Hello everyone, looks like a lot happened this morning. Lisa and Dave congrats!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I left early this morning to vote, and then worked a 1/2 day. Then off to Doctor,,,And guess what.

I did really good since he saw me last in May!

I lost 30lbs, and most of my test numbers were good. He told me I got a A+,
I also got my blood pressure to fall in regular numbers.
Just got to keep working at this and get my numbers to fall lower.:cool1::cool1:

After that, excersing in the pool!

Just relaxing before bed now.;)

Dianne- CONGRATS!!

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

Sue - Wow what a slumber party that would be. When are they going to do this? Sounds like a fun trip. But man that is a long way from you guys isn't it? I know that the headwaters that turn in to the Mississippi is up quite a ways into Minnesota and then we are about four hours away from the Mississippi River. If they do this I hope they have a safe canoeing.

Dianne - congrats on the doctors report. Sounds like you are doing an excellent job. Keep up on the great work! :thumbsup2

Only 2 more sleeps till we leave. But the weather is looking kinda chilly down there for Saturday :sad2:. Warming up a little on Sunday :). As long as it doesn't rain we will be fine. So lets hope for no rain. :worship:

Have a great day everybody! Off to pysical therapy. :flower3:
