March 2023 Direct Sales

What cards do you recommend?
That depends on lifestyle- I travel for work so I use a 3% for hotel/ rental care / airline / means no fine print no cap card ( the old Wells Fargo Amex but it is not offered anymore)

For personal use I have a PenFed 2% on everything (no fine print,no cash back cap) redeemable as cash.) Wells Fargo offers the same with some limits on gift cards

I find the other cards change too much or have rotating discounts that cause me to make less anyway - and I don’t need disney dollars when I can get real dollars.

Do either of those have annual fees? My go-to is only 1.25% but no annual fee....

Incentives seem to be working - VGF outselling RR - people seem to go with the cheaper offering.
The secret poly initiative is behind the poly spike, I am sure AKL will show the same in the next few months.
I'm sure the incentives play a roll in VGF outselling RR, but...

What if there are simply more people who prefer VGF? We talk a lot on these boards about incentives and prices, but people usually buy where they most want to stay. We thought we'd buy Riviera and toured VGF as an afterthought. I was surprised that we liked VGF so much better! Nicer location, way more restaurants, much more impressive lobby and shopping options. The layout and decor was more our style at VGF.

I'm sure we're not the only ones who looked at the two options and simply like VGF better. Hard to compete with Disney's flagship resort (that's walkable to Magic Kingdom).

At this rate, it might sell out within 2 years of going on sale - impressive in this climate.

Because when RR had better incentives it outsold VGF then they switched and put better incentives on VGF and VGF outsold. So it is the incentives more than the resort

Only the opining month when there were pent up sales

VGF vs RR was my choice as well - but when I saw that VGF BPK was just a hastily redone hotel room with no fix to the paper thin walls and noise issues - I saw the benefits of RR - now booking in VGF 1 ( which I love) is twice as hard

RIV outsold VGF, sometimes by more than twice as much, for 5 months…Aug to Dec…so, the price plays the biggest role.

The first 3 months of sales were strong for VGF…then they fell off..
