I'm not sure what to do. My family and I LOVE the Polynesian. We are booked for March 21- 26 in a Deluxe Studio at Polynesian Village. (My family is me, my husband, a 3 year old, and my daughter will turn 1 on our trip.) With the new discount, we also have the option of a Theme Park View at Bay Lake Tower or the Contemporary in the main tower for just a little more money. Should we switch? I keep going back and forth. We have never stayed at Contemporary or Bay Lake. While we absolutely love the Poly, so many things are uncertain or will be closed during our stay (monorail will be closed for sure, unsure about room service which we always use the first night). Opinions? Help me decide!!

The hotel side of Poly will still be closed, so who knows what dining and pools and stuff will be open. I don't really want to stay in a weirdly empty Poly, especially for that much money. The room service is Ohana, so who knows how they are working that now or will be then.

I would go Contemporary, because I do not believe fireworks will be back at MK, and that defeats the point of the BLT view. The Contemporary IS the Disney hotel to me. Mobile ordering is really picking up, so it should be easy to grab something at Contemporary.

DVC Poly does have the extra fold down bed, which is surprisingly comfortable. My toddler liked that better than a whole sleeper sofa. The extra 1/2 bath is also perfect for a Pack N Play. Really, an ideal physical set up for your current family. But many of the DVC views are parking lot bad. Big contrast to Contemporary, which is a wow experience.

We stayed at Poly over the summer and visited during the day a few weeks ago. (We also stayed there several times during the 2013-2014’ish major resort work, which was FAR more disruptive than now).

While subjective of course, I think it’s still a great time to stay at Poly, especially with a little less hustle and bustle vibe. One of Poly’s common complaints is how ‘busy’ the lobby and pools are, and now’s a chance to experience things with a little less commotion - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

DVC makes up just over 40% of the total room count at Poly, so it’s not like the place is a total ghost town. While some things are closed, many things are open - and barring Disney coming out and closing additional amenities (which to me doesn’t seem likely) it’s easy enough to size up if what’s open now works or doesn’t work for you.

Who knows of course, but I assume in-room dining won’t be brought back before for your trip. But, mobile ordering at Cap’t Cooks and the recently introduced “To Go” ordering from Kona are wonderful alternatives.

I’m admittedly a Poly lover so I can find always find a reason to stay there - but I personally would have no qualms about staying there during the current circumstances.

Others who want a perfect/everything open experience may feel differently.

Poly is one of our most favorite resorts, but I just booked a 2 bedroom at BLT for a couple days after our May disney cruise. I was all set to book the poly, but the uncertainty of what will be open pushed me to BLT.

Yes- We were so excited about the physical set up at the Poly. It would be absolutely perfect for us. We talked about it last night and we changed it to BLT Theme Park View. I really liked the Contemporary room and proximity to everything more, but with 2 little ones using bottles and sippy cups, we really need the kitchen area. I know we will miss the Poly though!!

We ended up rebooking BLT Theme Park View for only $60 more. What really pushed us to move was the monorail access being down. I know I'm already having anxiety about us changing though! haha It's our favorite and our arrival there is what makes it feel like "home" to us. We can't wait for our next stay though! Thanks for your suggestions!

Same! We rebooked last night for BLT Theme Park View for only $60 more for the week. Really the fact that the monorail wasn't going to be available is what pushed us to book elsewhere. We are going to miss staying at the Poly though! It's truly our Disney "home"!!!
