Good Morning.

I am new to the boards and hope someone can answer a question.
Yesterday I was searching for a room at a moderate resort in March if 2014 when the kids are off for spring break, it came back with no rooms available. So I searched budget and received the same results.
We have never gone to Disney during spring break, can these resorts already be full or ate they not booking that far in advance?
Thank you

They haven't already been booking for March 2014. I'm not sure if all the resorts are booked, or just the moderates, but the moderates are popular for families and it is a popular time to go, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were reserving rooms.

Welcome to the Dis :)

The reason you aren't seeing any availability is that the 2014 rates are not out yet. They should be out sometime this summer. New rates have been known to come out in August in past years, but have been released as early as June/July the last 2 years. You can book room only now by calling, which will be quoted at the highest rate for 2013 for that particular resort/room type and your reservation will automatically be adjusted once the new rates come out. A deposit equal to 1 night's room rate + tax will be required at booking. If you want to book a package or book online, you have to wait until the 2014 rates are released.

The 2014 rates haven't been released yet, which is why the OP can't find availability. You can call and book room only, but nothing can be done as far as online until the new rates come out. All resort categories (online) will show no availability for any arrival date of January 1, 2014 or after until rates are released.

Thank you.
So would it be a better option to wait until the new rates are posted versus paying the higher rate?

You wouldn't be paying a higher rate when it's all said and done. You can book room only 499 days out, but you have to call as rates aren't out online for that far ahead. Your initial reservation will be quoted at the highest rate for 2013, but once the 2014 rates are released, your reservation will automatically adjust to the correct rates. You will pay a little more when you make the deposit, but you are not locked into the higher nightly rate if you book this early. Once your reservation is adjusted, it will show you paid a little more toward the balance since your original deposit was based on a higher nightly rate when you booked. I hope that makes sense and I didn't confuse you.

With that said, if you know you want a package (room + tickets, and possibly DDP), it's best to wait until the 2014 rates come out. Since packages can't be booked until the rates are released, it's better (IMO) to wait and book that from the beginning. A room only reservation can't be converted to a package just by adding tickets, so if you book room only now and want a package later, the room only would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Room only and packages are different reservation systems, so money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

HTH :).
