March 2012: The Year I Almost Survived Spring Break

I've been neglecting the Dis here since our return trip, have started our TR and even done a dining review report...but I'm slacking on updates so GLAD to read yours!

Can't wait to find out what you forgot...and hear about your first full day!

Let me start off by saying that DS's birthday was ... rough. :guilty: He got his first loose tooth, and it totally devasted him! Here's the story:
We were eating dinner and he went to take a bite of broccoli (my kids LOVE veggies!). The stalk was a bit crunchy, and it knocked one of his baby teeth loose. Well, I'm sure it was already loose, but it made it apparent. It was a bit tender, I'm sure, but he burst into tears. Everyone was staring at us, and I was trying to celebrate! What a great way to commerate his birthday than by getting his FIRST loose tooth? But no, he was distraught and NOTHING would calm him down. I explained that the sting would go away in a few minutes, a new tooth would grow back, the tooth fairy brings cash, etc. Nada. Nothing worked. He cried himself to sleep. (I was finally able to get Orajel on the tooth when we got home, but having to keep it on the tooth, even though it no longer hurts.)

Tomorrow is his party. He chose Star Wars as his theme. :goodvibes

And I want to wish TK's DS a Happy Birthday!

Anyway, on to comments:

Happy 6th birthday!!!!!!!

Thank you! :flower3:

:bday: to DS!!!!

You chased storms to get to Disney??? Such diehards! So glad you all made it safely, though! Waiting now to see what you forgot...

Thank you! :flower3:

It was ... definitely interesting. :lmao: And boy, I was in for a shock when I opened the suitcase. New post coming Sunday, I hope.

Happy birthday little DS!!! I hope you have an amazing day today! Do you have any fun plans?

I am sure the girls will wish him a HB too - once they are home and know about it. LOL

D~

Thank you! :flower3:

We went out to eat (his choice, he wanted steak -- so Outback it was!). He gets a party tomorrow.

I found it!!! Great start, Lidian!!! Sounds like a frightening start! So glad you guys avoided the storms. They can definitely be scary! I am so living through you on this TR, since we won't be going this year, afterall. Cannot wait to find out what you forgot! Looking forward to continuing this journey with you!!

Happy Birthday to J today!

Sorry that you don't get to make a trip this year. How about me and you run off and take some Disney time? :lmao:

Liddy what a way to start your trip :scared1: storms are the reason I started flying the last trip when we drove we hit storms from CT to Fl and then same thing coming home. Glad you guys made it safely there and back

Watching that video has me re thinking our road trip yep I am a big chicken

I'm too scared to fly. :scared: And you'll be fine on your roadtrip! :thumbsup2

Hopping aboard as I need a good Disney fix!

:welcome: Glad you can join us!

Hey Liddy Found it. I've been neglecting my newfound love (the DIS) lately since I've been in sunny FL for the past week and it was just too nice to sit at the computer. But now that I'm back in Maine.....wait a minute....its just as nice here! Seriously, I think its warmer here than it was in FL

But anyway...count me in. Can't wait to hear all about it. Great start. Its funny, I was picturing you guys traveling and just before you mentioned that you felt like the storm chasers, thats what I was picturing That would've been freaky for me. Glad your town wasn't hit after all!

Did you have fun in FL? :goodvibes

Glad that you're here! It was definitely an interesting drive.

I'm joining in! I have a ds who is a year younger than yours but they have similar interests! BTMR was closed when we were there - I am not sure if he would have liked it or not! But he does love trains!

:welcome: My DS LOVES trains! So I'm kinda shocked that he's so terrified of real ones. :guilty: Is your DS into the whole Thomas thing?

I've been neglecting the Dis here since our return trip, have started our TR and even done a dining review report...but I'm slacking on updates so GLAD to read yours!

Can't wait to find out what you forgot...and hear about your first full day!

I'm heading over to your TR! I'm going to look for myself in pictures. :lmao:

Did you have a good birthday?

:welcome: My DS LOVES trains! So I'm kinda shocked that he's so terrified of real ones. :guilty: Is your DS into the whole Thomas thing?

yeah, he likes Thomas, but he goes through phases and lately he's been into Toy Story, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, the Muppets, etc. His room is actually decorated with Thomas though - his blankets and sheets - and he has a bunch of Thomas trains on his train table. But he loves train rides - when we go to the zoo all he cares about is the train ride!

Yea I remember when you told me that you were heading out I was :scared1:. I was watching what was happening with the weather and was hoping that everything was going to be alright. I think I finally took a deep breath when I knew you had stopped for the night and missed the storms.

Happy birthday to your DS. It strange to think that alot of use were pregnant at the same time and didn't even know each other than. My eldest DS will be 10 in May and my DD will be 6 in July. She didn't even realize that her tooth was loose until she had swollowed it. She was eating a candy apple during a Movie at the grade school and came running up to me showing the gape in her grin. She actually lost her third tooth while I was at Disney World.:sad1:

That is neat that our children are the same age!!! My oldest DS is 10 in May and my 2nd DS is 6 in June!!!

When my oldest DS pulled his first tooth, he threw it in the grass on the playground at school because "Well Mom we don't need that!!!!" :scared1:

My youngest just pulled his first tooth last night while up AT BAT in his t-ball game. Needless to say he was put out and his coach turned to us to say, "Hey mom, he just pulled a tooth. You need to check on him!" :lmao:

I am in, can't wait to hear all about the trip!! Happy Bday to your DS!!

We're all gonna be busy reading TRs here real soon, can't wait to hear from everyone in the FB group, we just got back today...

Interested to see what you forgot, and you will not believe how our trip started...unreal:confused3

But he loves train rides - when we go to the zoo all he cares about is the train ride!

I think its natural for all children to change their favorites on a minutely basis. :lmao: He's still into Thomas, can recite all his train's names, but he chose Star Wars for his birthday theme. :confused3 I mean, he likes SW when it comes to WDW, but I didn't really think he'd be considered a fan.

Since my DS rode BTMRR back in 2010, we haven't been able to get him on a train since (not without some crying involved anyway). He now thinks all trains can become "run-away trains" and panics.

I'm sorry that you missed a lost tooth! But hopefully the tooth fairy took some pictures and shared the treasure with you. :goodvibes

I'm worried that my DS will toss it out when it comes out. :sad2: I keep reminding him that it's treasure and the tooth fairy pays for teeth! So hopefully when it comes out, he'll tell someone. I know the teachers at his school have "tooth boxes". They're adorable ... cheap little plastic boxes that hold 1-2 teeth. The tooth goes in the box, the box goes into a ziploc, the whole thing goes home to mom with a certificate that a tooth was lost. :goodvibes

Wow, yours pulled one at a game? WOW! I bet the coach wasn't expecting that! :lmao: (I trust he was okay though?)

Yay, you're here! I'm anxious to read about others from the FB group as well. Especially where trips overlapped. I'm seriously scouting for my family hiding in the backgrounds of people's pictures. :lmao: Are you going to do a TR? I'd love to read it! I've enjoyed the posts in the FB group everyone has been making!

Glad you had a great and safe trip and made it home safely!

So either start a TR so I can hear about how unreal your trip started, or share the news with us. :rotfl2: I love cliff-hangers! :thumbsup2

Liddy First Happy Be-lated Birthday to DS

I was afraid to fly also, the first time I pretended I was on a bus And have never looked back. Once you fly and are transported to WDW in such a short amount of time, for us 2-2 1/2 hours You will never want to drive again

Sorry your DS was so tramatized by losing his tooth

I'm honestly not sure I'd be okay on a plane. I'm super paranoid. I'd have issues just getting ON the plane ... I'm sure that with the commotion I'd probably make, I'd be escorted off the plane before it took off (well, hopefully before it took off :lmao:. Then again, they may just open the doors and shove me out over GA somewhere.).

I'd love the quick arrival ... but my fear is pretty extreme. Odds are high, I'd get stopped in security because of my anxiety. I know I'll stick out like a sore thumb.

DS is much better today. He even wiggled it for people at his party. :goodvibes Hopefully he'll remain calm when it comes out!

We last left off with just arriving at the Super 8 hotel for the night in Adel, GA.

We only brought in what we needed for the night and the next morning (which was a small suitcase and a bag). I also brought my laptop in, because I'm paranoid like that.

I opened up the suitcase to pull out everyone's pajamas when I realized what I forgot.

There was NOTHING in the suitcase for DH. Nothing. No 'jamas, no clean clothes, NOTHING. Then I started to wonder if I actually packed his suitcase. I was a bit scared to say anything, but I remembered loading a heavy black suitcase into the car (which is DH's), so surely there was clothes in it. I apologized for DH, but it wasn't completely my fault. He refused to pack, so I was left wit a LOT of last minute things to do for him. Something was bound to slip through the cracks. This was not the only "forgetful issue" we encounted either. Yep, but we'll get to that soon.

So after the kids dressed for bed and climbed in, DH made do with what he could. DH set the alarm and we talked for a few minutes before we drifted off into sleep. He wanted to get us up early enough so we could arrive around lunch time.

The alarm finally went off, so I forced myself out of bed to shower. I had major issues with the temperature of the water in the shower. It kept getting too hot and I'd have to back out of the water, turn it down, then it would get ice cold, so I'd turn it back up. Eventually I just moved out everytime it got hot, because it would always normalize itself after a few seconds. It was annoying, but nothing to complain about.

As I was finishing getting dressed, I realized another thing I forgot. My flip flops. I had set them on top of the case of water. DH moved them when he took the water out to the car (SUV). I tried hard to remember if I picked them up, but really, the last time I remembered touching them was setting them on top of the water. DH said he didn't see them, and was sure they were still on the table. Ugh. Tennis shoes and a sundress. It wasn't very pretty in this case. So DD offered to loan me her flip flops. (She's such a sweet girl when she wants to be!) It was nice that we had the same size feet in this case. So sporting her flip flops (cupcakes with purple sparkly straps), I finished dressing.

Once we were all showered, dressed, and repacked, we walked over to the lobby for a bite to eat. They had bagels, toast, and cereal. It was enough to put something on our belly. We left out of the Super 8 around 8:30 AM, which was a tad later than we wanted. We were about four hours away from WDW.

Not too long after we got in the car from the Super 8, DH handed me his phone and wanted me to play Navigator. I hate playing Navigator. Why? Because he wants me to tell him what the phone says to do, and the phone is usually wrong. Who gets blamed? I do. Ugh.

We hit Florida around 9 AM according to my FaceBook post.

About an hour later, I kept smelling bacon. I asked everyone else, but no one could smell anything. I smelled bacon for most of the remaining drive. Not a clue why.

At 10:07 AM, I snapped a pic of the kids:

Disney2012030.jpg

For the record, that sticker on DS's shirt actually ruined his shirt.

While I had the camera out, I asked DS to hold up our Fox. We were going to do a Flat Fox at Epcot for a school project (the Fox is the school mascot).

Disney2012032.jpg

We made a couple of pit stops along the way and before long, DS says from the backseat, "Mom, I'm looking for the Beach Trees!" Yep, he was looking for palm trees (beach trees in his words).

The drive was uneventful ... the kids were super good. Around 11 AM I saw signs for a Silver Alert. Not knowing what it was, I posted a question on FB to figure it out. Thanks to Nini and Corrine, I figured out what a Silver Alert was.

Then ... at 11:50AM, I saw this:

Disney2012035.jpg

We're almost there! Huzzah!

I saw some really cute billboards, so I snapped (not-so-great) pictures! This first one was just beautiful!

Disney2012039.jpg

And then ... we're getting closer!!!!

Disney2012041.jpg

Another cute billboard! (Yes, the top is clipped off, but I was in love with the "pole"!)

Disney2012042.jpg

At 12:02 ... I saw the only sign that can truly bring me to tears. Out of four years, I have tried to take a great picture of this sign. This year ... I'm quite happy with the picture. It's nothing amazing, but it's the best I have, and it was good enough for me!

Disney2012044.jpg

We have officially arrived on WDW property! AHHHHHH!!!

Then it was following the signs to our "home"!

Disney2012046.jpg

And you have to love the creative signs ...

Disney2012047.jpg

Moments later (12:05 PM to be exact), we saw our first glimpses of "home".

Disney2012049.jpg

We stopped at security and they welcomed us "home" after checking to make sure we were in the right place. We drove to the Custom House, where it was crazy busy! Honestly, I'm sad I didn't get any pictures of the Custom House. It was NUTS! We had to wait about 10 minutes to get checked in. Once we got to the window and I handed over my vouchers, the girl picked up the phone. She was all secret and I felt like she was talking in code. The entire time, I'm thinking that we're getting PIXIE DUSTED! A CM at the next window decided to entertain the kids. She showered them with stickers (and I felt like she was trying to distract me as well, but not sure). She got DD a wand and DS a pirate sword and then came more stickers! She asked them questions. Meanwhile, the girl I was dealing with hung up the phone with a huge grin on her face. My heart was racing. Where are we going? AKL? Poly? BW? Where?

Your room wasn't ready, but I found one for you.

Oh. My heart sank. All that show just to secure a "ready" room? I didn't care if the room was ready or not. We were hungry and had plans.

She said it was on the second floor. Wait a minute. I have hip dysplasia. I have issues with stairs. There was NOTHING available on the bottom floor and they were booked to 100% capacity. Ugh. So second floor it is.

All checked in, we had our keys and everything else we needed.

Which building did we get?

Disney2012051.jpg

Can you figure it out?

How about we get a bit closer ...

Disney2012053.jpg

Any ideas? Aruba 51! I was honestly torn on the location. I checked the map and it was literally across the bridge from OPR. The bus stop looked pretty close. So I was thinking we struck gold.

Enjoy some pictures of the room:

And the decor on the shower wall:

I was confused as to what this was ... but walking around the resort, I actually figured it out. It's some kind of flower-plant-thing. It was stunning in person. I meant to take a picture (but I don't think I did).

Up next ... Part 2 ... There's a rumbly in my tumbly!

After we got all checked in, we brought up our luggage and then walked over to the bus stop to visit DTD. At this point, I realized that our "GOLD" was not so great. The bus stop was quite a walk away! I never timed it (I should have), but I was determined that there HAD to be a closer bus stop.

We didn't have to wait very long for a bus, but I did make a FB post at 12:56 and the pictures I took were the last thing we did before we walked out the room. So I'd estimate the walk was a little over 5 minutes (probably about 8). Anyway, it was nice out, and a bus showed up pretty quick. DH asked what was for lunch, and I gave him a few suggestions. I voted WGPXpress ... and he agreed.

Once the bus arrived, we enjoyed a practically empty bus ride to DTD, where we promptly headed for (yes, these are out of order, but bear with me):

Disney2012077.jpg

I'll be honest with you ... I had only been to the actual restaurant and had never noticed this one.

We browsed the menu:
Disney2012076.jpg

And then we ordered! I decided to enjoy the Oven Roasted Salmon (fennel, tomatoes, arugula, roasted potatoes and horseradish cream $18)
Disney2012070.jpg

DH decided to go with Half Rotisserie Chicken (garlic butter, rosemary and mashed potatoes $16)
Disney2012074.jpg

DS thought a Kid's Pepperoni Pizza sounded good ($7):
Disney2012073.jpg

DD is like her momma and wanted the salmon ($18).

For dessert, I was afraid someone might get hurt if I didn't order the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake ($5):
Disney2012072.jpg

DH was eager for a Creme Brulee ($6) (this was the only food item he said he HAD to eat the entire trip):
Disney2012071.jpg

DS got a cute little cookie with his meal ($2):
Disney2012075.jpg

And DD asked for a Fresh Fruit Cup ($4). Well ... it took asking several times to get it, so by the time it arrived, I didn't think anything about taking a picture. And you've all seen plastic cups of fruit in the grocery store ... so just imagine that.

Let's start at the beginning, and then we'll get back to the food.

We walked in and since we studied the menu outside, we went right up to the counter. We were on the DDP, so I let the cashier know and as we were ordering, I set my purse up on the counter to pull out my wallet (for the KTTW). The cashier noticed my purse and cried out! She scared me at first, because I was digging in my purse. I looked at her (after jumping out of my skin), but she was gushing over how much she loved my bag! She started asking questions like ...

What store did you buy it at?

I didn't, it's handmade.

Wait right here, I HAVE to show my friend!

So she ran off and came back with her friend (who was distracted by work stuff). In the meantime, she finished ringing up our order and kept trying to get her friend's attention. She kept on and on about my bag and how much she loved it. She didn't force us to stand there, since her friend was tending to work stuff, and we walked off to find a table.

We filled our beverages when Seth decided to spill his milk all over the table. Not sure what happened, but it was an accident. It was around this time that I was getting up to find napkins when the staff came by to give us silverware. They went and got a cloth to wipe up the table for us. A few seconds later, DD decided to spill DH's drink. I'm not sure what was up with the kids. It was an accident, but still. I was getting up to search out napkins when the food arrive. One of the staff members sat down what she had and ran off to get a cloth to clean up the mess again.

Messes all clean ... we finally got to enjoy lunch! We were starved and it was after 1:30!

My salmon as incredibly delicious! I didn't care much for all the arugula ... there was a TON on my plate. I ate some of it and then started digging for the potatoes. DD enjoyed her salmon just as much as I did.

DH said that the chicken was amazing! He said the mashed potatoes were the best he ever had. I tried them and they were super amazing! I'm not sure what kind of "gravy" was on them .. but YUM!

DS was too busy to really eat. He enjoyed a slice of his pizza and then ate a few bites of his cookie.

DH devoured his dessert in one bite (not really, but it seemed like it). He said it was amazing creme brulee as always. I enjoyed the cheesecake, but I was pretty full and didn't finish it. DD said the fruit was horrible. She said it didn't taste right. DH thinks it wasn't ripe yet or something. He tried it and said it was pretty bad. She ate the grapes (which she said was delicious) and left it.

Then came our first dilema. I hadn't done much research over WGPX ... and I wasn't quite sure if I was supposed to tip. I couldn't get a good data signal to search for my answer, so we went the high road and left a nice tip. They did bring us silverware and food, and they had to clean, not one, but two spills, so they definitely deserved a tip, even if it wasn't a tipping establishment. Plus, it's better to be safe than sorry. :thumbsup2

Wolfgang Puck Express Ratings
Food: * * * * * Amazing, delicious, huge portions
Service: * * * * Great, but not amazing (since we had to ask multiple times for a fruit cup)
Recommend?: YES!
It was a great value for the DDP as a CS meal. The meal itself was very expensive (and we probably would have skipped if we weren't on the DDP). We look forward to enjoying a CS meal there in the future! We love the original restaurant, so compared for the two, we'd eat at both!

After lunch ... it was time to get our SHOPPING on! :woohoo:

After we had an amazing lunch, we decided to do some shopping. We made several purchases this day. What did we buy?

First we wandered into one of my favorite stores (that I don't know the name of) and I saw this amazing coffee mug (I turned one around so you can see the front and the back all in one picture):
Disney2012079.jpg

Did I buy it? Guess you'll have to keep reading....

I browsed all the cookware. What I was really after was an apron (no pictures -- I was distracted by text messages with Kouga).

We left the cute little cookware store and walked over to the kids' favorite store!

Disney2012080.jpg

DH took DS and I took DD and we let the kids wander around and spend some of their money (but not all). I came back to find DH after DD made her purchases (a keychain, but don't recall what it was, for a gift to someone).

DS was sporting a new lightsaber. I asked him to make a mean face for me. Did he succeed?

Disney2012081.jpg

I asked DH if he made any particular character's and he said it was a mix-match of various villains and heroes (is that what you call them?).

So DH found a few shirts he really liked:
Disney2012083.jpg

Disney2012086.jpg

I really liked the "Old: It sure beats dead" shirt ... because we felt soo old this trip. It was very fitting for us.

After we left Once Upon A Toy, we walked over to the big WDW store. I have searched everywhere, because I swear I took a picture of someone wearing this hat ... but couldn't find it ANYWHERE.

But we found an awesome Perry hat:
Disney2012087.jpg

I tried to get DH to get one, but he wasn't feeling it. lol

Then I found a great hat for D! (So I promptly sent her a text with a pic of it.)
a84a56b4.jpg

While I was shopping ... I did something I had never done before. I looked up. WOW. I had no clue there was decorations hanging from the ceiling!

So I snapped pics of some of them (well, the ones I remembered to look up for anyway):
Disney2012088.jpg

Disney2012090.jpg

Oh hey! A cute shirt! (Did I buy it?)
Disney2012092.jpg

DD wanted to try on some new ears:
Disney2012093.jpg

Disney2012095.jpg

Then ... I fell in love. I saw the most amazing decoration!

Disney2012096.jpg

This was just stunning! I want it to hang on my wall. Think they'd give it to me?

And of course, my second favorite villian was right behind me!

Disney2012097.jpg

Disney2012098.jpg

Disney2012099.jpg

Then it was off to the register to check-out. What did we get? Hmmm....

DH took DS and I took DD and we went to different registers. We agreed to meet at Stitch (so DS could get spit on). We walked out some random exit and saw this on the ground:

Disney2012101.jpg

There were several CMs with "brooms" and buckets creating Mickey faces all over the sidewalk. We saw them putting the ears on this one (at the same time -- it was a great show!). We stopped to watch. One of the CMs approached DD and asked if she could help them with a very important issue they had.

DD was apprehensive and politely turned them down. I reassured her that it was okay and offered to hold her bag. The CM took her and asked her what was wrong with the picture of Mickey. It took her a second, but she said his eyes weren't done. So the CM instructed her on finishing up Mickey's eyes.

Disney2012102.jpg

Disney2012103.jpg

Disney2012105.jpg

Now Mickey was completely done!

Disney2012107.jpg

Disney2012108.jpg

The CM had noticed I was going picture crazy (this is just SOME of the ones I took) and asked for my camera. He offered to take a picture of me with DD. It was super sweet of him and he really made DD's day! I'd totally consider this pixie dust! I didn't see any other kids finishing up the Mickey's (while we were there) and they had a good 7 or 8 Mickey's in progress!

Disney2012109.jpg

After I thanked the CM over and over, we walked over to a soaking wet DS and DH. We decided to head back over to the bus stop and catch a bus back to the resort. I posted on FB at 3:15 PM that we were waiting for a bus and I couldn't remember what room or village we were staying in. Yep, not a clue. I was hoping that I'd recognize it and could find our room that way. I should have wrote it down I guess.

Purchases:
DD: earrings, Marie pen, keychain (and I think something else or two, but don't recall)
DS: autograph book
DH: nothing
Me: autograph book (x2, one for me and one for a gift) and a pen

Sadly, no t-shirt purchases, no awesome coffee cups, no aprons ...

Since it was just a little after 3 PM, what did we do with the rest of our day?

So I could use a bit of advice ... I'm coming up on my March 4th entry and it is extremely picture heavy. I mean extremely. (As in I'm only uploading like half the pics and it will be a good 8+ posts. Yep. It's massive. Lots of stuff going on, lots of pictures.

How should I break it up? Here's my options:

A) keep it chronological
B) break it up by "land"

We did a TON of zig-zagging this day, back and forth between each land multiple times. I'm very OCD ... so this is stressing me out. In a perfect world, A and B would be the same.

So what do you think would be easier to follow along? At one point in the day, I'm just wandering around looking for characters. And I think the actual "full" day will be around 10 posts when you add in after park stuff.

I swear, the rest of the week is only about 3-4 posts per day. :lmao: This was just a very special and unique day. (So don't be scared off, you'll understand WHY this day was so much more picture intense than any other day.)

So ... thoughts. A or B? :confused3 Chronological or by "land"? :confused3

Thanks!~

I vote chronological :)

When I first read your post about the suitcase, I thought he left all of his clothes at home. Now I realize it was just the stuff for the travel night in the car, lol.

I love the new-ish ceramic coffee mugs. I'll have to get one :)

I vote for chronological too. DH bought that "old" tee shirt for his mother. I actually wanted it but didn't buy it since I donor like buying the same shirt as someone else has. Too funny about forgetting where your room was, that would so be me I always get lost.

WGPE looked great! Sadly we did not make it to DTD :sad2:

I am also voting for chronological! :thumbsup2

OMG - I super duper LOVED all the updates! I am going to have to call the girls in her later and have them read them, so they can see the "stinkin' cute kids" again. :lovestruc

I can't believe you got 3 updates done in one day!

I just love the theme of CBR - but it looks so huge! I think that Disney needs some smaller resorts - I know that makes no sense - but I think a lot of people would enjoy that.

Your room is exactly like ours, different decorations, of course. LOL Gee - what are the odds of that? LOL

I did see that EQ mug... I saw a great EQ display at Tren-D... I am pretty sure I snapped a picture of it for you... I have a few more days to post before our DTD day though.

That was such a magical moment with your dd and the side walk art - she did a GREAT JOB!

Sadly - we didn't get to eat at WPE - like we'd originally inteneded. Next trip!

And I loved all the billboards!

Is it soooo sad that last week, I was so glad to be home - now this week - I am dying to plan another trip, just as long as the last one??? :rolleyes1

D~

I just found your trip report. It's still your first day at Disney so I don't think I've missed too much.

We always start off our vacations at DTD too. It's never to early to get your shopping on.

Thanks for the vote! :goodvibes It really helps me overcome my OCD when people share their input on how they'd prefer to read things.

Honestly, when I opened the small overnight suitcase, my heart stopped. I was sure I didn't bring ANYTHING for him. :lmao: (But in case anyone is confused, his full suitcase was packed, and included his overnight stuff.)

I loved the ceramic mugs! (I should have stated earlier they were ceramic.) They were VERY heavy! But they were stunning and had a ton of different ones. I thought it was plastic since the lid was rubber and picked it up to turn it around (and check the price). I had a bit of a sticker shock. While the price wasn't high, it was more than I expected. But the mug was very heavy. I saw it shattering over and over in my mind while holding it. :guilty: Therefore, it went back on the shelf. But I have pictures of what a stunning mug it is. :thumbsup2

DH eyed that shirt all week. Guess you'll have to wait and see if it ever made it home with us. Everywhere we went that had that shirt, he'd hold it, check the price, check for his size, hold it some more. :lmao: Everytime I'd tell him to just go ahead and buy it, everytime he said that he would wait until the last day in case he found something better. (Did he? You'll have to wait and see.)

I'm not so sure I could wear matching shirts with my DH (or other family member besides my kids) on a daily basis. I could at WDW (or other special event) ... but not to like Target or something. :lmao: And then I'd get confused with doing the wash and have to check tags to see whose shirt belonged to who.

Sorry that you didn't make it to DTD. We originally planned to skip it, but we arrived so late, we didn't have much time for a WP and we were starved. So we headed off to DTD to kill time before dinner. WGPX was AMAZING! I'd definitely recommend it and definitely would go back!

Can you guess how long we wandered around before we found our room? :rotfl2:

I am also voting for chronological! :thumbsup2

I was actually killing time ... I had all my homework caught up (waiting on a professor to email me back before I can finish) and did a fair amount of studying. So I decided to knock out some updates (so no one can claim I don't update my TR ). I'm prepping out my next ones, so I can sneak in an update here and there between assignments.

My kids are still missing yours! DD asks if your girls can go to WDW with us on our next trip. :lmao:

CBR is massive. But honestly, I think CSR is only slightly smaller. CBR is a stunning resort, I totally give them that. :thumbsup2 I agree that WDW needs some smaller resorts. Something with a central hub and a few buildings around it, so no matter where you stay, your walk is about the same distance (give or take one minute). And I think any resort with multiple floors needs ELEVATORS!

We never made it to Tren-D. I wish I had know they had EQ stuff, or I totally would have popped in there! I can't wait to see the picture! I may have to see if I can order something online to go with my EQ collection. :lmao: It was so great to see the EQ Mini UPB in action this day, too! I noticed it was hidden in one of the pictures. :goodvibes

I was so glad that the CMs picked my DD! It TRULY made us feel like we were at WDW ... immensed in the magic. :cloud9: I'm also glad that I stopped! We really enjoyed watching them "paint" Mickey's on the sidewalk with water. I noticed on the way out, there were a TON of them all over DTD. Such a great day!

D, I feel you about the trip. Honestly, Sunday night I was ready to go home. And once we got home, I was so happy and so thankful and told DH we'd never go back to WDW again. Then a few days later I start asking for a trip next year. :lmao: (Heck, I even tried to get him to go for the FD offer in August.)

Sorry you missed WGPX. It was amazing!

I just found your trip report. It's still your first day at Disney so I don't think I've missed too much.

:welcome: You haven't missed much at all!

Three out of four years, we have started our trip off with a visit to DTD. Last year, we went straight to MK, and I swore that's what we'd do from then on ... but we originally decided to do a WP or mini golf. But since it was much later when we arrived than planned, we just went to DTD to eat and kill time. :goodvibes I didn't mind at all. It gave us time to browse for souvenir ideas.

Omg I so need the muppet shirt.

You should totally get it! We're big Muppet fans in this house, so I totally encourage any Muppet purchases. :rotfl:
