Hi everyone! Air Canada has flights to Orlando posted for all of March and Westjet has posted for the first half of March. Out of Pearson on AC direct to Orlando 616.00 including taxes, WJ 734.00 all in. Just some info for those comparing flight costs.

At prices like that, for a family of 5, I'll fly out of Buffalo for 1/3 the cost.

For Canadian airlines I suppose it is a good deal ... but we are Buffalo converts! Last year we flew 7 of us on March break for $2100 ... that is much better! Here we'd pay at the least (if you buy early!) $5000 with that cost ... the drive to Buffalo is SOOO worth that!! Plus the airport is quite relaxed and easy to navigate ... not stressful at all :)

It may be worth it for some, but not everyone. I'd much rather just call a limo to the airport than carting everyone down to Buffalo. Being a single dad with three kids, as little travel as possible is the best for us.

Do the flight drop in price for near the end of March? That's when I'm looking at going. I paid $400 per person for our trip next month on Air Canada.

If that is for weekend flights it is not bad. The airlines have figured out that many Canadians head to Buffalo and it is getting more expensive each year. Delta flights opened up at $437 Buf to MCO and they are not direct flights.

If you are willing to go weekdays I am sure it will be less but for the weekend departures they will be higher.

DisneyDad, keep an eye on Westjet, this past March there was seat sales to Orlando for the non break weeks.

Keep an eye on the airlines, they will go alot lower then that. I watched Air Canada and WestJet for months and the prices were cheapest in November for March Departure. Sign up for the airline emails so you know when they have seat sales.

Well, I just booked our 2011 trip for March 24th to April 1st. My son wanted to have his birthday at WDW (who wouldn't) on March 29th (his 11th), and as an added bonus, I'll be celebrating my 45th on March 26th.

My parents are looking into coming, and since they live in the Niagara region, Buffalo now appears as an option if they do in fact come.

Having only flown Canadian airlines (Air Canada, Sun Wing etc.), which US airlines are good, and which ones should we avoid?

We always fly out of the US (Detroit) We have used Delta, NWA which is now part of Delta, Airtran, Spirit and American Airlines. Always good exp. with Delta and Airtran also. I can say that we have had no issues with any of these airlines and I would recommend then all.
So far there are few airlines with dates as far as March Break 2011 and what I have seen so far (for Detroit to orlando) is too high. I am crossing my fingers they come down!! or we will have to drive:scared1:

As a point of reference for folks, we flew from Ottawa > Florida in late March/early April. We flew down Sun March 28 and flew home Fri April 2nd. When I booked in late-Feb, our options were:

Ottawa > Orlando: $415 per person roundtrip including taxes

Ottawa > Tampa: $341 per person roundtrip including taxes

...but we ended up flying in and out of Miami (and taking a different cruise that left from the Port of Miami). We ended up paying $286 per person roundtrip including taxes!

WE FLY OUT OF BUFFALO A FEW TIMES A YEAR FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. WE FLY EITHER SOUTHWEST OR JET BLUE. OUR FIRST CHOICE IS JET BLUE. TVs AT EVERY SEAT TO WATCH DIRECT TV. DUNKIN DONUT COFFEE:cool1: MORE LEG ROOM. JET BLUE ALLOWS YOU 1 FREE BAG PLUS CARRY ON SOUTHWEST ALLOWS 2. THESE 2 AIRLINES USUALLY PRICE BATTLE BEWTEEN THEM THEY STAY FAIRLY EVEN. JET BLUE HAS 2 DIRECT FLIGHTS A DAY TO ORLANDO MOST DAYS SOUTHWEST ALSO HAS DIRECT FLIGHTS. 3 WEEKS AGO I BOOKED OUR SEPT FLIGHTS TO ORLANDO DIRECT ON JET BLUE FOR $69 ONE WAY. WITH TAXES IT WAS JUST UNDER $200 RETURN. WE LIVE IN NIAGARA AND IN 45 MIN WE CAN BE IN THE TERMINAL FROM OUR HOUSE DEPENDING ON BOARDER AND WEATHER. A COUPLE DAYS LATER THOSES SEATS WENT UP TO $144 A SEAT SO IF YOU SEE A GOOD PRICE BOOK IT. IF PRICE DOES GO UP AND YOU HAVE TO BOOK IF THE SEAT PRICES COME BACK DOWN YOU WILL GET DIFFERENCE IN PRICE ON FUTURE FLIGHT.

I wish we had some of those choices from Halifax. Maybe we would see better prices.

I drive to Portland in a little over 3 weeks. One way Portland to Orlando for 4 people ... less than $400 Canadian total (taxes in for everyone $78 fare). We need to move Nova Scotia closer to Maine .....

Wouldn't that be great. We think anything less than $500. is not too bad.

Was able to book Sat-Sat from Buffalo to Tampa on Delta for Spring Break yesterday for less than $300 US and flights where not leaving at 6:00 AM:cool1:. good prices out of of Rochester also.

Another option was flights Rochester to Daytona Beach, they were less than $250 pp, but decided I would rather fly from Buffalo.

Budget.ca also has one way rentals for $19.50 a day. picking up at Tampa and drop off pretty much anywhere in Florida. with the Walmart code from the DIS of w810011 (have used it several times in the past no questions asked)

Guess we will do DCL on the Dream for 2011 Spring break:thumbsup2, and then maybe Busch Gardens.

I was on AC website today and noticed that the prices for March Break out of Pearson have dropped. There are direct flights for 506.00 return. Maybe the competition from Buffalo is having an effect.

That's a horrible price! I'll fly out of the U.S. thanks. :surfweb:

I agree!! Last March we flew out of Buffalo for $250 each, taxes in, total. For an extra 1.5 hour drive to Buffalo there is NO other choice. It's shameful what you have to pay to fly out of Pearson in Toronto.

It's fairly early to be pricing out plane fare. Prices will drop and seat sales will come out.

Although we live in the Ottawa area and so flew out of Syracuse, I can also recommend Jet Blue. At our time of booking (August for the following February flight) pricing for AC and WestJet was hovering around $3400 for 4 of us (2 adults + 10 and 13 yr old). Jet Blue came in at around $1200!! Hoping to repeat for Feb. 2011.
