I am new to the boards and have been trying to figure out all of the codes and discounts. We are taking our trip March 24-31, 2007. We will be travelling with 14 family members. We figure we needed 4 rooms. There are 2 families of 5, 1 family of 3 and Grandma gets her own room. She has said that it is okay if a couple of the grandkids bunk with her at night though. There are 7 adults and 7 kids ranging in age from 6 to 16.

I went to AAA and they have quoted me a rate of $7353 for this vacation at ASMu with 8 day hopper passes and insurance for the adults (59.95/each). The quote from Disney was $7883 with 6 day hoppers.

I want to be sure we are doing it correctly and getting the best rates. If we want to make changes before the 45 day mark, is it better to have started with a package deal and possibly change to a room only reservation down the road and buying our tickets elsewhere? Also, can you change from a AAA discount to a visa discount or an AP discount if those become available and are better?

We are contemplating getting the dining package, but for all of us, that can get very expensive. Our other option is to have someone get an annual pass and then get 2 of the DDE cards to be able to take advantage of the discount from that for meals.

One other thing, do some of the resorts sometimes have better discounts than the All Stars, not making them less per night than All Stars, but making them such a great discount that you don't mind paying a little more to stay there?

Okay forgot to ask about the Grand Gatherings, which do you recommend.

And what about the different tours at the parks that are offered.

Thank you in advance for all of your help with this.

Before booking a package I'd call CRO and ask for the AAA rate for your dates for AllStar, and check out A Mod at the same time. See what the AP rate is, it may pay you to buy one AP to get the rate while buying your regular passes for all others. Look for park passes here:

I've used these guys before and paid less than WDW prices. There are others, too, use Google to find and compare.

You may do better, maybe not, but at least give it a shot. BTW, we never buy the insurance. Good Luck.
