March 2006 Code Watch

I'm a new DVC owner. I have three OKW studios for Sat March 11, then a OKW Grand Villa for Sun through Thurs, all on points. Then my family is moving to Hard Rock Hotel for two nights ($269.10 + tax per night, AAA).

I'm watching this board for the other family. They need a room Friday, March 17. They have five people, (my niece, her husband, two daughters and mother). They are looking at POR. While I have AAA, they don't and the savings on one night are not enough to justify getting the membership.

Do you think they'll offer BRP for March as well? They would probably come out in late November or December to make booking for 60 days out?

Talking about airfare, we are so limited in what airline we can use, NorthWest being the most feasible and for our two tickets alone was 844.00! So I certainly wouldn't of wanted to purchase 7 of them! I too went through AAA and booked a package with dining so I could of got a discount on our room, it was probably 20.00 cheaper a night so it wasn't much but every little bit helps.

WOW!! I feel your pain as far as location...here in DSM IA...we have nothing but American Eagle flights and those are about 400 pp in March...well at 5 pp in our family...no way can we go unless that goes waaay down

did you check with Disney travel?? I was able to get a GREAT rate thru them, even better than our no frills carrier to Sanford!!

the five of us flew for 900 from Des Moines (usually 350 per tix)

That's a great rate. We drove to Omaha, saved over $400 but don't think I'll do it again. It's exciting to see someone else here from Des Moines. I live in WDM but work in DM. So, howdy neighbor! :wave2:

When did you go? We just got back from a 3n cruise on the Wonder (our second cruise  ) and then 5 nights at POP with FREE dining. Can't beat that for a big family!

We went Sept 28 thru Oct 3
at the Poly with free dining!! It was awesome and wonderful!!

I am glad you got in on the dining too!! I bet your cruise was great...
We actually live in Johnston and want to go again soon but the airfare is a no go and the drive is 21 hrs :earseek:
with three kids....uh no thanks!! I don't think I could handle that drive HOME from WDW...

I know, I can't imagine driving down there. At least not now. Way too far. The kids would go crazy. But the airfare is obnoxiously high for 6 people! We are planning to buy into dvc (to go every other year at spring break) but have to calc that airfare into the total cost!

I am looking at Pop Century February 25th for 7 nights. If my trip starts in February but then goes into March do I need to find a February code? Are there any out there for AP?

We just had a last minute change in vacation times...I was booked for June 17 for 9 nights but now I am booked for March 26 for 8 nights instead!!! I am of course hoping for a code. I am currently booked for a vacation package with hopper passes/ dining plan. I hope a good one comes out so we can upgrade to a deluxe!

We have decided to do Mar 19 thru 24!!!!

we are staying at SOG this time around, GREAT RATE!!!

also we have to drive from Iowa :earseek:

urghhh the things I do for Disney!!!

I've already posted this under the 2006MYW thread but this may be a more appropriate place. I just got off the phone with CRO after making our March ressie. I spoke with a very nice and seemingly knowledgable CM who even checked to see if I had any pin codes attached to my name for those dates(alas no). Anyway she did tell me that when it comes to pin codes, Disney plays the numbers game. If advanced reservations are not meeting expectations for a certain time period thats when they send out pin codes in a flurry. She said she felt strongly that due to Easter not being till mid April there was a very good chance that either a discount or lots of pin codes would come out for March to help "fill-up" the rooms. Lets hope so! :cheer2:

What kind of discount do you guys think we can expect?

We're going March 11-17th, staying at Pop. I have the AAA rate now, but hoping for much better. Sis will be joining us and we can apply her FL res. rate, if that comes out. Where is the best place to watch for rates/codes when they change/come out? TIA!

Soupermom we will also be at Pop on march 11th. We have AAA rate and are hoping for somthing a little deeper. We are only at Pop for 2 nights then over to OKW for the rest of the week.

I'm going from March 26-March 31st and staying on DVC points at BWV. I will also be attending a conference at the Swan/Dolphin from April 1-April 6. I'll probably end up staying there or at the Yacht Club on the conference rates (which aren't that great in my opinion). I still have 1 night (March 31st) I'll have to cover, so I'm considering trying to extend my stay at the DVC or booking a cash ressie with the conference rate for that 1 night (then move whereever they send me for the rest of the week).

It's just one night, but a code would still be nice! :goodvibes

I just called Disney and I was quoted a rate of $117/night at Pop for February 26th for 7 nights. I have only stayed at Pop one other time (last May), and we paid $74/night. Is $117 reasonable for the time of year we are going? I just feel like that is so high compared to the $74 rate we had in May!

That would be Rack Rate. We're going a week later but in the same 'season' and we got POR for $148 on the AAA discount while RR for that is $175. If you're an AAA member, I'd think $99 per would be what to expect, but I don't know that. It was about this time last year that the BPD code came out for 1/1 - 4/15 offering the Values at $55 and the mods for about $120, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. I'd book the best acceptable rate you can get now just so you don't get shut out of a room, it happens, then switch ressies if something better comes along.

I just did a quick check on AAA.com for a room on March 31st.

Pop (std) = $97.75
POR (std) = $148.75

I would have thought that our conference rates would have been cheaper, but they are $152 for POR and $104 at the All-star resorts!!! (Conference rates are quite a bit cheaper for the deluxes though... YC, Swan/Dolphin).

BUMP - the AP rates are out for March!
