So we went to IOA today for the first time since WWoHP opened. We were there when the park opened and made our way to WWoHP right away. We weren't staying on resort, nor did we buy express tickets, so I was expecting it to be crowded, but it was even more crowded than I expected - all over the park!
Anyway, we skipped Olivander's and headed straight for the Forbidden Journey - already a 1/2 hour wait. About 15 minutes into our wait, we hear and announcement that the ride is down, but they're hoping to get it up and running soon. We decided to stay in line. A while later, they announced that it wouldn't be up for 2-3 hours so we exited. As I said, the place was packed, so we got some frozen butterbeer (which was tasty, but a bit too sweet for my taste) and headed to another part of the park.
I won't go into all the other rides and stuff we did, except lunch at Mythos, which was excellent. And we were able to get in quickly without a reservation, which was a nice surprise.
Later in the day, we were on our way to City Walk for a snack when I stopped into Park Services to ask if FJ was up and running again. The guy was so helpful. He thanked us for being patient about the ride and gave our family and express pass to FJ.
and another express pass to any other participating ride. I wasn't expecting that, especially since FJ isn't usually an Express Pass participator!!! We skipped City Walk, got a snack at the bakery near the entrance and went back to ride a few more rides.
By the time we made it over to WWoHP, around 5pm, the line up for FJ (which we got to skip)
was a 60min. wait. We walked on and because on of my dks was too short, the older kids got to ride twice because dh and I used the Kid Swap option. The ride was awesome!!
Then, when we got to Olivander's there was almost no line and when we got inside, my ds9 got chosen to have a wand choose him!!! I couldn't have imagined, after the inconvenience of the morning that the day would have turned out so well. We really felt like we got the V.I.M.
treatment at Hogwart's!
