March 18, 2012 Spring Break on the Dream

Please email me by this Friday to sign up for the FE gift exchange. I have not heard from many people so it looks like we will be a small group.

53 days until we sail!

ACK!!! I was on the original list...I believe it was Page 1 of this thread...where I gave all my info. I've been MIA from these boards for a while and logged in today so I could figure out Fish Extender stuff. Is there still room for our group and if not, does anyone know of another group we can join? I just ordered a Fish Extender and told my kids all about it. My kids are going to be so bummed if we don't get to participate!!!!

Per my email, I am working on it. No worries. We are all going to have fun with the FE!

I have had some requests to set up a meet and greet for our group. My last 2 cruises had meet and greets set up the day of embarkation but we missed both. Traffic crash on I-95 was the problem for the first cruise and the second we were running behind in general and the kids wanted to go to the pool.

I want to hear some suggestions for the meet and greet. When and Where from those that have cruised before? One meet and greet versus multiple times?

Quick question...does anyone know if many men will be wearing jackets on this cruise? I wasn't sure how "formal" the nights are. Thanks!

Bought some more of my FE stuff today. Getting Ready! We're going to have a delightful time!
:woohoo:

will only be wearing a jacket in Jemy. You'll see a wide variety of dinner attire. You should "fit in" no matter how formal you choose to be.

Hi March 18th cruisers! I know you are all getting excited for your cruise! I noticed that your cruise is one of the first that is an Itinerary B cruise. We are sailing in May and ours is that Itinerary as well. There isn't much info out there as far as navigators etc. I was hoping that when you return someone in this group might be willing to post your navigators and share if there are any major differences in the Itinerary A and B cruises other than days at sea and Castaway Cay. This would help many of us with planning etc. I wish you all safe travels and a magical cruise in March!!!

Not sure who is more excited, me or the kids!!!! Anyone packing yet??

reynm7yo, I will do my best to post pictures of the Navigators for you. :)

In my experience it's best to try to meet the first day, before the drill. Say 3:00, DLounge? That's like the Promenade Lounge on the classic ships, right? This is my first time on the Dream so I'm not too sure of the lounges. On my first cruise we planned to meet on deck by the sailaway party, but it was way too hard to find people. Inside works better. It's great if you have kids too, it helps if they can "make friends" before heading to the clubs that night. I hope to see everyone there, I'm so excited!

Also- a suggestion for FE participants (I'm not doing the FE this time, but I have on all 7 previous cruises): come to the meet! Often one or more families will end up with a cabin change, either buying an upgrade at the port or getting a pixie dust one. This way if there are changes, the organizer can bring a pad of sticky notes and a pen, and everyone can write down the changes. A short cruise like this is way too short to go around putting notes "6511 has moved to 9244" in every FE and hope that everyone sees it. On a cruise last year we moved cabins, and while I put out notes- not everyone saw them. Apparently some people delivered gifts to my original cabin and the new occupants never turned them in to guest services. :sad2: I feel badly that people worked hard to make stuff and someone else kept it!

I started packing!!! LOL, I am WAY too excited for this cruise! Had to make sure all my FE gifts fit!!!!!

Just spent the last hour looking at FE idea threads. ACK, I want to make MORE!!!! I'm definitely going to have to book another cruise. This is way too much fun and I haven't even left yet!!! Kids are packed...now to pack my stuff. Less than 2 weeks...woohoo!!!!!

Less than 2 weeks!!! Am I the only one not packing? LOL! If I pack all my clothes now I won't have anything for the next 2 weeks!!! :) I am getting a little nervous though. I ordered a super cute Fish Extender on Ebay (because I am so not good with the sewing machine) and now can't get the seller to respond to me! Her reviews are FANTASTIC and even had rave reviews on disboards. Now I am in panic mode if I don't hear from her soon. I want to make sure that our Fish Extender is in my bag before we leave! If not you guys might be putting gifts in walmart bags! :rotfl:

I'm only packing for the kids for the same reason (they have plenty of clothes) but now that I think about it, I could probably pack for myself since I'm not wearing shorts or dresses right now!

I'm also waiting on my Fish Extender. I know the gal that's making mine but she's just starting on it this week....fingers crossed she works quick or we'll also have some plastic bags hanging outside our door! LOL!

Where do you live Leslie? We are in South Florida so we always have out our summer attire. We have only lived down here 2 years and I already think it is chilly if it gets down to 70! LOL!!!

Well, it's the complete opposite for us! We haven't had our shorts on in months (we live in Toronto, Canada). It's been a weird, mild winter, though.
I need to dig out the summer stuff, see what fits. I know one of our boys has grown a lot taller but I'm hoping many of the shorts will still work.

Today is really unseasonally warm...going up to 55F. Earlier this week it was about 20F. Lots of swings this year. But...we love that blast of warm air when we first step outside in Orlando. We're the crazies in shorts and tshirts when it's in the 60s, for sure! Still, we're hoping for the 80s!

It has been really warm here this winter. We are having a "Cold Front" this week with highs in the low 70's. HA! HA! Last week it was 85. We were ready to go jump in the pool, which is still weird to me in February!

Hi: I checked the list of cruisers earlier in this thread, but not everyone included their kids' genders. We're parents to twin boys, age 13. The boys are looking forward to the cruise - 2nd time on the Dream for us. They didn't really take to Edge and now I'm wondering if we found some other guys who might be joining in that might encourage them. Or, maybe they'll find someone to hit the movies with. I'm certain "John Carter" will be the newest release on our cruise and I don't think I want to go!

Our guys sometimes want to go their separate ways and do different things. This is partly because of the challenges one of our fellows faces - he has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair/walker, and is otherwise typical. He can be a bit shy around new people, the staring etc. He knows people aren't being mean, but he just gets tired of people looking at him, questioning what he can do etc.

Any 12/13 year old boys out there?

Thanks!
