We arrive at Disneyland March 17th and im not too happy with the weather forecast from KTLA. :scared:

WINTER STORM TO IMPACT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS WEEKEND...

A STRONG COLD PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SLOWLY INLAND THIS WEEKEND. WHILE THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE TIMING AND LOCATION OF THE MORE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS... FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH EARLY MONDAY SHOULD BE MUCH COOLER... WITH PERIODS OF STRONG GUSTY WEST WINDS... ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS... AND PERIODS OF LOCALLY HEAVY PRECIPITATION WITH LOW SNOW LEVELS.

WEST WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS COULD GUST TO 75 MPH AT TIMES.

RAINFALL TOTALS FOR THE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH EARLY MONDAY PERIOD COULD RANGE FROM ONE TO TWO INCHES FROM THE COAST TO THE FOOTHILLS... 3 TO 5 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAINS... AND ONE INCH OR LESS OVER THE DESERTS.

SNOW LEVELS COULD LOWER BELOW 2000 FEET BY SUNDAY. BY THE TIME THE STORM ENDS ON MONDAY... SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOWFALL ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE FOOTHILLS... HIGH DESERTS... AND VALLEY LOCATIONS BETWEEN 2000 AND 3000 FEET. A FOOT OR MORE OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE AT ELEVATIONS BETWEEN 3000 AND 6000 FEET. FOR THE MOUNTAINS ABOVE 6000 FEET... TWO FEET OR MORE OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE.

THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH SMALL HAIL OR GRAUPEL... ALONG THE COAST AND LOWER WESTERN VALLEYS... WITH WATERSPOUTS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS. THIS STORM IS ALSO EXPECTED TO BRING HIGH SURF TO THE BEACHES.

THIS WEATHER COULD BE DEADLY FOR UNPREPARED CAMPERS OR HIKERS.

Aren't you used to cold and wet?

I imagine it will be a cold time in the parks. Fireworks canceled. Good amounts of rain will drive away crowds. Terrible crowds on the next sunny day if it's been raining.

We arrive the 18th for 2 days and then move on to San Diego. My hope is that it weakens somewhat and isn't as bad as forecasted. I can do rain showers and drizzle. It's the downpours I"m worried about. Or even that if comes in earlier on Friday. And clears out somewhat by Sunday.

I live in San Diego and will be taking my step daughter to Disneyland on the 18th and I'm bummed that it is supposed to rain :( The forecast was saying high of 71, then changed to showers at 40% then 60% now it is saying rain..Grr lets hope that it isn't too bad.

And now it says 52 and rain throughout the day. We will try to brave it eith hoodies and ponchos! I hope our MM isn't ruined that day! If so we will switch our Minnie's breakfast to that morning and do mm on Tuesday

Take a shammy (think Sham Wow) to wipe off seats, take ponchos (as you said you would do), take umbrellas and maybe consider bringing rain boots or other good boots to wear. If it pours areas of the parks flood like crazy so it's good to have something to keep your feet dry. For the shammy, after you wipe off the seats, wring it out over the side of the ride and carry it in a gallon sized Ziploc bag, you will love it!! :)

Right now, both weather.com and accuweather are predicting rain for the weekend.

Opps - I meant the 19th. I'll be at DL on Monday, not Sunday. Accuweather says "Cool with times of clouds and sun" and weather.com says daytime showers. Who knows!

We arrive Friday and are staying thru the weekend. Celebrating my daughters 3rd b day on Saturday. REALLY BUMMED about the weather too.

17th thru 20th for us. Saturday we're planning on going to Knotts as our Disney AP's are blacked out Saturday. Knotts being mostly coasters seems not so good for a rainy day. Trying to figure out what else to do if it pours Saturday that would be fun for 3 13yr old girls. Thinking maybe long beach aquarium and a movie.

Does anyone find that one weather site is better/more accurate than another? www.weather.com is predicting differently than www.accuweather.com for the 18th, so I'm curious if anyone relies on one more than another, or a different site altogether.

I always use the "gold standard" The National Weather Service. Updated forcasts are issued 4 time each day. Usually around 9AM, 3PM, 9PM, 3AM.

For the full details (some of it technical) scroll down to where it says "Additional Forecasts & Information" and click on "Forecast Discussion"

Keep in mind that any forecast will be much more accurate within 24 to 36 hours.

The OP's forecast quote said 1-2 inches of rain in the 'coastal areas' from Friday night through Monday morning... so in other words, 1/2 to 1 inch of rain EACH DAY. That's not a lot. If it is consistent, then it will be 'misting' all day, if it all dumps down at once, then it will be over with quickly.

We're going to be there, and make the best of it! :thumbsup2

We're going to be starting our magical trip in the midst of the rainy forecast and have packed the ponchos, gloves, scarves, ShamWow, etc. Honestly, I would much prefer a bright, bright, sunshiny day but have decided to make the best of it. What would have been 10/10 crowds on Sunday might now be 2/10 crowds and, to me, that is a very nice trade off. Plus, I've never had a delicious hot chocolate at Disneyland and now plan to enjoy one. Hope that everyone with plans to be in the parks this weekend can find their bright sunshiny spirits. I think we can make it magical! See you there!

Well said Mouse13 :)
Definitaley not super excited for the weather but we went and got the kids rain boots and umbrellas and plan to bring all the warm clothes. We are leaving Sunny 80 degree AZ and plan to be super cold! LOL,. I said the same thing about hot chocolate! We are planning to just roll with it and make the best of it. See you there :)

Hurray for bright sunshiny spirits! Look for me, diznefreak, I'll be the one bundled up from head to toe with a great big smile on my face and a Disney song in my heart! I discovered the amazing little girls Sophia Grace and Rosie on a video for the first time yesterday and have to admit that I'm just an adult version of Sophia Grace! Under my calm, grown up exterior, lies a giddy, excitable little girl that's in love with life and Disneyland. Take that blustery, rainy day! You are no match for my bright spirit! :)

quick tip, sometimes the hot chocolate is not good at all, if you ask them to "refresh" it for you then they usually will. We had 3 cups of hot chocolate that all tasted like warm water, you couldn't even taste the chocolate, we went back to the same vendor and he dumped out our cups and gave us fresh. He said he had just refilled/refreshed/resomething'd his machine. The refills were the BEST! :)

Thanks for the tip. I want, ok need, for my hot chocolate to be "very" chocolatey!
