March 16th, 2013- 7-Night on Disney Fantasy

Hi Joanne!

I'd love to meet up on the cruise! Maybe as our group grows, we can plan a time for anyone that wants to get together and meet each other can. Although, it's funny, we met four families from our extender group on the very first day of our last cruise just by accident! One was at the port parking lot, one at the port terminal, one waiting in line to change dinner time and one at the pool. Imagine that! :rotfl:

I'm happy to set-up the extender and get it going, but I'll just be the keeper of the list --- it's definitely a group decision on any specific stuff, like when to cut off for new people (so everyone has time to get their gifts together) or how big it can get before it should be split into two groups (if at all). I'll get a separate thread set-up and have Irish Cowboy add it to our main cruise listing so people can find it. I'll let everyone know when it's out there. So excited!!!!

Can't wait to see who else joins our group! Planning and getting to know everybody is half the fun!! :yay:

Shonna

Hello Shonna, Sorry it took me so long to reply. I missed this one for some reason ( read it but didn't reply :sad1:
Any how I would love to meet on the ship or earlier if we are lucky enough.
I have friends that would like to join in the fun! They are in a different cabin than us but we are traveling as a group :cheer2:
The names are Gwen DG (aka Hammah) Joanne (yes another Joanne and we are really good friends) Brian DH, Elizabeth DD 10 and Alex DS 7
I do have another family in our group but I have not heard from them yet. Now this is all assuming that they don't have to be DIS board members before If that is the case let me know and I will work on that :goodvibes
Well I am off. I am making valentine goodie bags for my daughter's class mates.:hug:
Hope you are having a good day

Hi Joanne,

I'll get everyone added over on the FE thread. I don't think they have to be DIS board members, though it is a good way to get to know the others in the group. :chat:::yes::

Hope you had fun with those goodie bags! We're doing ours this weekend since we spent last night building a valentine's day box that had to have 3 "machines" on it! Fifth grade does this every year, so this is our third one! Maybe our son will have a different teacher by the time he gets there and we can just use one of the old boxes!!! HA!! :rotfl2:

Thank you for adding my traveling friends! I know they will enjoy it as much as the rest of the group will. I love the chats. :cheer2:
I have over half of the goodie bags cut and glued together now. I got the last of them cut as well. Took me a bit but once I got the idea of how they are put together it went much faster. We will be visiting our local dollar store to fill them.

Your Valentine's Day box sounds interesting. Are they pictures of machines on them? :confused3 Wish I could see a picture of it.:woohoo:

Oh I was thinking about how many should be in the exchange and I thought perhaps the cut off could be around 40. Does that sound about right? I don't know much about these as this is our first time on a cruise never mind doing this. Let me know what you think and what others think as well.

On my last cruise, when we had too many cabins participating, we just split it in half. That way, we didn't have to do too many. I am open to whatever though!

I agree that we can just split the extender in half if it gets too big, but we can just wait and see if we get to that point. I was thinking today that it's over a year away, but I know how time flies so we'll all be sailing before we know it!! :yay:

Hi Joanne,

I got your friends added, but take a minute sometime to make sure I listed everything right. I just put them down as "long tresses traveling group friends" --- very original I know. :rotfl:

Thank you for adding them. I did look but couldn't find it for some reason. Maybe I didn't look in the right place. I went to where the first list was put up. Oh well I am sure they are there and happy you did that. Thanks again

That's strange. I just double-checked this morning and it's there, they are right underneath you guys on the list. Who knows - computers seem to have a mind of their own!!! ;)

Have a great day!!

Hi everyone,
I just signed up for the Fish Extender List on the other link to the Meet and Greet for this cruise. Are there two FE groups set up, or is everyone signing up on the other thread?

Hi Mary! Welcome to the group! I'll get you and Christy added to the Fish Extender list. I don't think we've set up anything official for a meet and greet yet, just the FE list. I'm sure as it gets closer we can all decide what we want to do. So glad to have you both in the group!! :wave2:

Welcome to the FE group. This will be a lot of fun. I can tell you have been on a few cruises. This is our first and hope to learn how it is done through you experienced cruisers.

We just got off a 3 day Dream cruise and while onboard booked a 7 day western for April and today I changed it to March 16, which happens to be our school spring break! No need to take kids out of school, and it was the same cost!

The 3 day was nice but it was just not enough!

A little about us. I am Paula, my husband is dave. In may we will have been married 25 years. We both graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 1984. We love all things disney but are not DVC members (I'm too frugal for that!--we almost always stay off property). We're taking a year off from WDW to be able to try Universal and cruising.

DH is Dave, he's 46 also and the Chief Technology Officer for an online learning company.

The kids:

Jessica, DD 15 for the cruise
Madison DD 13 for the cruise
Rachel DD 9 for the cruise

We will probably do the Fish Extender, I will decide later. We have not told the kids yet. Trying to decide if we want to surprise them and when...

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

My trip report on my 2/2 cruise is on the reports thread if you want to check it out:

Hello Paula,
Read through your First Disney Cruise report. Sounds like you did have a good time all be it short. In March of 2013 we will be going on our first ever cruise. Hope to meet you on the ship. :dance3:

Loved that you introduced your family in your message. So maybe I will return the favor. My name is Joanne (50 until next month) I am a stay at home mom with many hobbies. I love Middle Eastern dancing but have not taken any classes for some years now. I scrap book and am learning to us my Cricut along with a program on my computer called Sure Cuts a Lot. My DH is Jim and we have been together for 10 years now. Jim is 51 (turning 52 later this month) Jim's biggest hobby would be riding his Yamaharley. (it is a Yamaha but dubbed Yamaharley for those Harley enthusists! :rolleyes1) He also loves to search things out on the computer and glean all kinds of information that way. Between the two of us we have five daughters :yay: Our oldest daughter has just turned 30 and has our three beautiful grand daughters princess: princess: princess: One of which will be joining us on our cruise in 2013! Then the other four girls are 27, 25, 22 and lastly our baby is 9. The older ones won't be joining us but the DD 9 will be there!

Ok that about sums it up for us. Looking forward to meeting you. :grouphug:

Glad to be here. We dummy booked an April and were thrilled this week was same price as we won't have school and FCAT to contend with!

I made an error above. My DD Rachel is 9 now, will be 10 in 3 weeks and for the cruise she will be 11.

My birthday is March 17 so I will be celebrating! Whee!

Our last cruise we booked 79 days out so waiting more than a year will be tough! And we're not telling the kids--that will be hard. We may make it a Christmas surprise.

I'm still having post-cruise depression and nausea. They say this should last 3 days so homefully the "spinning room" feeling will go away SOON.

Oh Paula I feel for you and that nausea feeling! I hope it ceases soon.

Wow our DD will be close in age. My DD who is 9 now but will be 10 when we board the Fantasy in a year. And yes a year to wait must feel like forever. They will be close in age and I am sure if the meet up they will get along :cutie:

Ok are you ready for another one :) My birthday is March 15th! :thumbsup2 We leave on our cruise the day after my birthday and my friend who is our traveling family has her birthday on the 24th! What fun that will be. Last year (2010) we celebrated our birthdays in Disney World. What fun we had.

Well that is it for me for now. It is nice getting to know you before hand. I really hope we get to meet while on the ship. :grouphug:

Joanne--

I scrapbook too! I have a Cricut but its an older one that wont work with the computer. I haven't done any scrapbooking in a while but use the cricut alot for science fairs and national history fair!

I bought a lovely scrapbook on the dream.

Yamaharley--that is SO funny! My oldest brother is retired Navy and works for Harley in Milwaukee, he's a regional director for the Harley Stores. I lived in Milwaukee as a child and we were a big Harley family. That's a long time ago tho...

Yep, I think this will be fun. I need a do-over at CC as it was too cold to go too far into the water.

I think my kids are suspicious. I don't think we'll be able to keep this secret too much longer. I'm terrible at that sort of thing.
