March 15, 2015 MAGIC Cruise!! :)

Welcome 2ofusnj! Glad to have you! Sounds like the time away on the cruise will be most welcome for you and your brave little boy!

I have a little boy who turned 7 in October, in first grade. He is a very easy going and friendly kiddo and I am sure would love to meet a new friend. Let me know what you have in mind to connect! :)

We got 11 inches of snow in the last 24 hours... ready for this cruise to take off!! Cant wait!

Buses are canceled here because of extreme cold. It is -39 Celsius feels like -48! Come on March!!

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin. Other information you would like to share such as first names, ages of child participants, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, since no one seems to be coming forward to organize a latecomers FE for this cruise here on the DIS, please feel free to start the FE right in this thread.

There is certainly enough time to plan a FE for this cruise. All it takes is for someone to maintain a list of/for those participating which can easily be done in this thread. Cruise Meet threads have been doing it this way for years now here on the DIS. If anyone is interested in doing this, feel free to contact me for some suggestions.

Hello MBM1014! Welcome to the group! Happy to have you! This is also our second cruise, the first being on the Dream as well. We are also getting so excited!

To answer your question, our FE exchange is closed now to allow people time to plan. As Laura said, we were supposed to cap at 12 but added a few more due to smaller numbers. I know I had had my gifts done but had get some more stuff to add on. My advice... hang on just a bit. I would bet we will have more newcomers join in the next couple weeks to allow starting an additional group. I know I organizied the FE our first cruise on here and after we capped it off, there were a good 6 or 7 more families that came along and they started a second last minute group. You could certainly start that or perhaps papertraveller would be willing to keep a list of names for an additional group on our first page list? We would also love to have you join in at our meet and greet on the first day! :)

Yes, mine arrived today as well, and cheered me, but not as much as dh who snatched it from me! Did you notice our port time for Cozumel changed slightly? Check it out if you have any private tours booked!

I was wondering if this might be due to the time change that the state recently passed that changes the time zone for Cancun/Cozumel/Costa Maya etc. to Eastern from Central? This took effect at the beginning of February.

I didn't notice the original times for being in port. Did they change by one hour?

We are doing the Fury Catamaran excursion, and it runs from 1:45 to 5:15 -- and the ship is in port until 7:15. I definitely recall that the last time we did this, we walked onboard the ship from the catamaran and the ship left not long after.

Oh, and did I say I'm cold? Not probably as much snow as you guys 3Goofy's, but there's more in the forecast for us. My walk to the subway is taking longer and longer each morning! I keeping saying, "Hood up, head down!"

We just got hit with snow too! Where are you from? is your son an only child cruising?

2ofusnj We are from Iowa and nope my son is one of four! I have two girls almost 13 and 3 and two boys 10 and 7!

I can't wait for mickey mail! !! I'm so anxious! Since we booked with a TA I'm guessing it will go to her first! Something about getting those tags....

I'm SO ready for this trip. Work has been incredibly stressful lately and I can't wait for the break!

Can anyone give me advice on which night might be best for making a dinner reservation at Palo? I had heard that the Pirate night menu was not as favorable and I'm taking a guess that this is Thursday night?? Right now we have a reservation at 6pm on Thursday (Cozumel). TIA

I finally made it through reading through this entire thread. I had popped on in December to join the conversation and join a FE group, and then life happened. :-) I'm hopeful that I can actually participate more regularly now. This is going to be our second cruise; our first was a 4 night on the Wonder back in 2010. We're looking forward to a longer cruise.

Now that I'm here, I have a few questions. First, is Palo worth the extra money? If so, would you recommend brunch or dinner?

About the FE group, when will we know whether the last 2 families on the list are participating? Thank you papertraveller for coordinating all of that!

Hopefully one of our veterans will be along to answer some of the Palo questions. I've not been there so I don't have much to add though I hear it's very good! Our first cruise I will say we enjoyed pirate night on the dining room. And from what previous cruisers are saying it does look like pirate night will be cozumel night.

As for the FE our deadline was 1/25 . Those other two families did not check in despite numerous messages and haven't been back to the board since like September. I personally feel at this point they can be removed. I am counting on 16 cabins. Would you agree papertraveller? Advice?

One more thing...I was just printing out our FE list and I believe kuhltiffany has a DD and a DS. The older is the DD. On the list we have it listed as two DS. :)

Yes, we think Palo's is worth the money. We always have fabulous meals there (maybe it's the company too!), and I find MDR's only ok. I like the pace of the meal, the service, and the food is very good. We prefer brunch.

Yes, you are correct! The list has been updated. So sorry kuhltiffany and family!

I think everyone can make their own assessment on the families that have not returned/confirmed. I think it's a safe bet that they won't be back.

And as for Palo, it's definitely worth the money. The issue for us is that we enjoy the food in the main dining rooms and don't want to miss it. As a result, we tend to do Palo brunch instead of dinner.

Last year we had a wonderful surprise when a second reservation at Palo mysteriously appeared in an envelope left at our stateroom. I didn't want to ask any questions on how it appeared, but it had our name and stateroom number correct. Even up until the time we checked in, I feared that someone might say they'd made a terrible mistake. But that didn't materialize, and we enjoyed a wonderful second brunch!
