March 15, 2015 MAGIC Cruise!! :)

GTY means you are guaranteed to have that category or better. We just upgraded to a 7A GTY. Meaning they can put us anywhere on the ship, but we will not be in a room below a 7A (navigator Verandah). They won't assign your stateroom when you book/upgrade until closer to the sail date, and in some cases the day of when you get there.

It's a cheap way to get a nicer room, giving up the freedom to choose where you are at.

It means guarantee -- you book that stateroom category, but you cannot select the stateroom. Disney guarantees that you will have that level of stateroom, or better, but at their discretion.

Thanks Msidescooter and papertraveller. I talked to my husband, and since we really like the idea of being on Deck 1, we're going to keep our current room. It's bigger than the inside stateroom we originally booked and has the split bathroom.

Papertraveller, please add me to pixie dust group. Our first cruise, so I'll be doing some studying up. We are DM, DH, and DD (6), no room #yet.

They still have 7 one-bedroom suites available for this sailing. Which hopefully is a good sign that the ship won't be completely packed.

That seems like a lot of staterooms still available, 25, so close to sailing, especially on a smaller ship like the Magic. It'll be interesting to see if you get the feeling that the ship is less than sold out. No matter what, we'll be having a great time in less than two weeks!
@Nike4000, I studied this and the Mar 14 Fantasy sailing..this sailing seemed to have a lot of contiguous rooms in several categories, not to mention all those concierge rooms. My theory is that Disney was blocking for a specific purpose. E.g., video shoot, and then cancelled. Lucky us!

Just got off the phone with DCL, wrapping up those last minute items (amenities for the stateroom, confirming Magical Express times, etc.) and they confirmed that the texting feature on the Navigator app DOES NOT work on the Disney Magic. That's kind of a bummer, we were looking forward to using it. Oh well, I guess we'll have to secure another wave phone again.

Bummer! Thanks for the heads up Nike4000!

I just called to get the price for an upgrade and I was told that the category/room I requested wasn't available although I had just looked at it online (I hadn't chose it). As I checked other categories, they kept disappearing a few minutes after I had seen them available. Maybe rooms are being assigned now? I can't even get the map of the available rooms to come up now. There must be something happening. We have two rooms booked...a balcony and an inside. I was hoping to move to a second balcony but the cast member just told me there were none available in that section of the ship although two were available five minutes ago. I guess I was too late!

Splash mom that's strange but I bet you are right. I bet they are assigning room guarantees. Maybe after they do that the true availability will be there?

Can't believe how close...anyone started packing? I'm thinking this weekend I will be starting. List is done I think!!!

We're starting packing this weekend. We've got our list complete (I think). We're flying down on Friday and spending some time at the beach and the Kennedy Space Center. I just bought my son some khakis to wear for formal night. I know some people really dress up for it, but even getting my son to wear non-sweats/sports clothes is going to be difficult. He's got some sensory issues, so he'll be likely wearing a t-shirt with his khakis.

I started laying things out but not actual packing yet. I do have a really long list though :)

Ice storms kept us homebound all day this past Saturday, so we got our preliminary round of packing wrapped up. It was a great opportunity to have the kids try on their swimsuits from last summer (surprise! they don't fit) and go through our packing lists to make sure we have everything we need. The kids hated it, but it worked out really well. Things thawed out enough Sunday afternoon that we were able to hit the stores and get what we needed. At this point we're just counting down the days with "mostly packed" suitcases in each bedroom.

We had our son try on his swimsuits last week because he was invited to a birthday party at a water park. I also had him try on all his shorts, and only his basketball and soccer uniform shorts fit. Fortunately, Target had some basketball shorts on clearance.

They haven't assigned us to a room yet, so if they took rooms off the market to place GTY's, I'm at the end of the list.

I never asked if there is a FB site for this cruise, but perhaps if there is someone can point me to the administrator?

Just did a quickie validation of VGTs and holy cow there are lots available! Especially on 7, for those of us waiting for OGT/VGT I bet we will be populating 7 :) Our last cruise it was deck 6, 90% of the OGT/VGT/IGT were assigned to 6; it was a rocking group!
