March 15, 2015 MAGIC Cruise!! :)

Anyone see the post on the cruise board today that they are offering a character breakfast on the Magic again?! The lady said you have to get tickets at the port adventures desk just like for the princess gathering and the Anna and Elsa meet. She said it was Disney junior characters like Doc, Sofia, jake. Since I have a 3 year old this is exciting news!
Welcome Dcheftimmins! You will find that this is a wonderful way to celebrate your father and all he did for his girls!

It does sound soooo very cold up there. Down here by the lake we're about -5, and there is more snow in the forecast.

As for the FE, I am happy to create a latecomers list and will put you on it. I'm still waiting to hear confirmation from mbm1014. I'm also happy to join you there, as we won't be preparing/finalizing our gifts until next weekend at the earliest. (I do think we will get more people, because I see quite a lot of availability on this cruise still. Must say I suspect this is because Disney, in its wisdom, put the Fantasy and Magic on essentially competing schedules. It seemed an odd choice to me.)

Please stay in touch so we can figure out how to relay your stateroom number to everyone who participates in that group.

Stay warm!

Welcome Dcheftimmins! A disney cruise is a perfect way to celebrate your father. We look forward to meeting you (I have an 8 year daughter!). Please put me on the latecomers list Papertraveler.

That is very exciting to hear! My 8 year old will be thrilled!

It turns out I need brain surgery. I hope I can postpone it until after the cruise, so I can go. If I do go, I'll be the person with purple in my hair. I figure if it is going to be cut off, I might as well have fun with it in the mean time. I just hope the headaches subside a bit so I can have fun.

I'm sorry to hear that. Praying that you can come enjoy the cruise and for your surgery!

Since this is only our 2nd cruise (and enough time has passed since our first one that my old brain no longer remembers when it happened for that one), could anyone tell me when we should expect our Mickey mail?

kjp, I read its usually 30-45 days out. If you booked through a travel agent it is sometimes sent to them and then they forward it to you. That was true for us. I just got our packet on Saturday from the TA!

papertraveller, do we have a way of communicating if we (or someone) asks for an upgrade and switches rooms?

I don't want to speak for papertraveller or create any sort of "policy," but in the past, what we've done is identify the organizer of the FE Group as the person responsible for managing that sort of thing. Historically that person would put a whiteboard on their door so people could note those types of changes. Then that organizer would notify the rest of the members of the group. In this case, it would likely be papertraveller since she organized the group, but if she's not up for it, I'm sure someone else will volunteer!

I just booked activities for our itinerary! Key West you'll find us on the Old Town Trolley or Conch Train Tour, Cozumel you'll find us with the dolphins, and Castaway Cay were going to board the Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure!

We didn't book through a travel agent, but still no Mickey mail. :-(

So, when would be a good time to panic? Saturday, when we are 29 days out? ;-)

We got ours last week. You may want to give DCL a call and check on it. They may have your address incorrect or it could be stuck in the snow in the north east.

I would call too kjp. I've heard people say it isn't the end of the world if you don't get them as you can that they have tags at the port but that would stress my organized self out!

Can't believe we are coming up on 1 month out!!!!!

Yes, there is something affirming about getting the Mickey mail. Ours arrived in the frozen north last week. And MadZac is correct -- even if you don't receive it, when you arrive at the port you can just tell the porters your stateroom number and they will tag your luggage appropriately.

As to the question about informing everyone about a room change -- yes, we will have a whiteboard on our stateroom door. The room is centrally located on Deck 2, just a few steps off the central staircase from the atrium. It's just around the corner from the Edge.

That said, and being a fan not only of democracy but also of delegation, it seems to me that if any of us is lucky enough to get an upgrade, it would be best not only to post the change on our whiteboard, but also for you to call each of the staterooms in our FE group. That way the onus is not on the other FE group members to swing by our room just in case to find out if there has been a change.

Luck and pixie dust to those trying for an upgrade. As I've said before, this will be our fourth cruise in the same stateroom. DD would mutiny if we tried to stay anywhere else!!!

So, I did call Disney today since we are 30 days out (woohoo!!!!!!!). The CM said it was mailed out on January 20, but if we haven't received it in another week to give them another call. I know I don't need it, but I think it would make me feel better. Not to mention that it's just fun getting mail from Mickey.

Hope everyone is staying warm. We've dropped back down below freezing with a blustery wind, and there is a possibility of snow this weekend. That means everything will shut down here, and there will be a run on bread, milk, & toilet paper. :-)

I'm glad you are getting your Mickey mail, kjp. I would want it as well! It's affirming to see all your details typed into a neat booklet. It's for real! One month today and we will be traveling to our cruise!! Gosh, I have the packing bug...

Instead, I will be staying warm by continuing to work on our FEs. It has been painfully cold here! Like -27 Celsius, which is -17 farenheight! Seems like a lot of us have the polar vortex to deal with, but I hear crocuses are blooming near WileyGrin, if I'm correct. Crazy.

Oh, please be hot and sunny on our cruise! It could never be enough!

The buses were cancelled today because of extreme cold. It was -39 Celsius with a wind chill of -47! I am hoping to work on the FEs this weekend.

Great news kjp! I'm with you whether you need it or not I too want the mickey mail!!!

Brrrrr everyone it's cold here too! I so hope we have glorious warm weather on the trip and good traveling weather too!

My FE gifts are half done! Getting excited. 3 goofys I totally have the packing bug too but trying to hold off a little longer. I think I've got everything we need but I should probably put a list together!

So sorry for those of you in the below zero temps! I'm sure my "cold" weather would be considered a heat wave for you. Stay warm, everyone!

Hooray! A meet thread!

This will be our sixth cruise with DCL -- gonna be gold, baby! It will be the fourth on the Magic in the same room, our second western.

I am happy to volunteer to organize the FE group. If you'd like to participate, please send me a PM with your stateroom number, names of grown-ups, as well as names and ages of kids.

I will maintain the list of staterooms and DISboard names in this post.
