March 14, '10 "Wonder"ful cruise!!

My family of 4- Me, DH, DD 11 and DS 4 are booked on this cruise too. We booked this cruise back in April. When the deal for the kids free came out, I called and had my ressie switched (I had to cancel and rebook to get the discount) I ended up in the same room and same dining. Imagine how thrilled I was to find I saved $1100!!:cool1::cool1: This is our first ever cruise. I am sooo excited. My friend and her family are also coming and booked their room down the hall (they also booked early) Looking forward to this.
Should be a great time.
Welcome aboard!! It will be a fun time. My youngest is 4. It seems like I have a kid to match everyone's needs.

What a great deal you got and you even were able to keep the same cabin. That's amazing! You will have a great time. This is our 2nd Disney cruise and they really know how to take care of you. Our 1st one was a 7 day and that went by so fast, so I am kind of concerned that this is going to feel so short. But a short Disney cruise is better than no Disney cruise.

We knew a 4 day would be too short so we don't have to get off the ship when we return......we are doing a Back to Back cruise, 4 night followed by a 3 night. I don't even care that we have to swap rooms. I am just glad that we don't have to get off! :) I would really like a balcony so I could watch all the excitement below!!

We are going on a Carnival cruise Thanksgiving week. We aren't really looking forward to it. We sailed on Carnival Glory last Thanksgiving. We really didn't like it too much. We thought we would give Carnival one more chance. It just doesn't seem to be our cup of tea. We love sailing Disney and I will be the first to admit I am disney cruise line snob~ But, with that said, I can have a balcony on Carnival for what I pay for a CAT 11 on DCL~

Why didn't I think of that? Back to back?! You were so smart.

We went on a Carnival cruise last Thanksgiving, too. We were on the Triumph. It was our 2nd Carnival cruise and I don't think we will ever do them again. You get what you pay for, and as long as you aren't expecting anything, it is fine. For a family, to save money, it's great!

So, how many times have you cruise with Disney? We have only been on 1 time. It was the Magic back in 2003. It was such a memorable cruise!:cloud9:

The B2B was actually my husbands idea. And who am I to argue with that? I booked it before he could change his mind!! ;)

We have been on Disney 3 times, '03, '05 & '09 all on the Magic. We have cruise NCL once, and this will be our 3rd Carnival. I am going on Carnival with a positive attitude. We have four ports so I won't be "stuck" on the ship for many sea days! It will be nice to get away. We find ourselves walking around the ship saying "Disney wouldn't do it that way" or "You wouldn't see that on a Disney Ship!" We have to stop that!:rotfl:

Well, Off to get my kids to school! It will be a long day! Talk to you soon.

Hope

What a great husband you have, Hope. I thought I was doing good when my husband said yes to the 4 day cruise.

When did you cruise in 2003? Wouldn't that be funny if we were on the same cruise that year?

When you are on Carnival just keep thinking about the cost. That's what I did and it made it better. My husband was the one who started that, because I started to say we should of did Royal or Disney and he would say yes, and it would of cost us double the price.

Have a good day!

Yes I have to agree, my hubby is wonderful. He loves to travel and loves Disney Cruises.

Our first Disney Cruise was in October of '03. That was the last year our school system gave us a week off for fall break.

I am so glad some of you have been on Disney Cruises before.
I have my cabin number is 8100. Not mt 1st choice but got on deck 8. I meet my husband years ago on a cruise and was as I joke I think I was in the engine room. Now that my son is older I plan on going on a lot more trips!
We are driving down to the port. We also have late dinner time.
My name is Jeannine and my son looks forward to e-mails to get know the others if they want.

Happy Friday, Hope and Jeannine!!
Any exciting plans for the weekend? We have a high school football game tonight, my daughter is in the band. And Saturday we are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a be-lated birthday for my son. He has been there before, but the rest of us have not.

Jeannine - How neat to have met your husband on a cruise. Must have been pretty romantic. That's funny, because that is how we starting cruising too. In the engine room! We are on deck 6. I wanted deck 7, but they didn't have a quad 11 on deck 7, so we had to go to 6. I thought about putting us on 7 and the kids on 6, but that was just too scary.
Where are you guys driving from? When are you leaving?

Hope - I will give my girls your girls email addresses this weekend. I try to keep them off the computer during the week.
And Jeannine if your son wants to start talking just tell him to shoot a email to one of the girls.

Have a great weekend.

No exciting plans for the weekend. Tomorrow is a cross country meet. Don't know if my daughter gets to run or not. Her knees are hurting really bad. We are off to see a physical therapist at 7:30 this morning. Hopefully it isn't anything bad. The coach is really disappointed, he was going to move her to Varsity this week. Next weekend the XC team is headed to Pensacola Florida for a race. It is a long way, but it is something the kids love. If she isn't injured we are going. If she is injured, think of all the money I will save...and can spend on our cruise :rotfl:

Any, have a great day. I am off to the PT before I take her to school.

Goodmorning!
My name is Kristin -- myself, dh, ds9 ds6 and daughter 17 and her bestfriend 18 will be travelling with us! phew.
I am so excited, we were lucky enough to go on our first Disney Cruise last May and I am hooked! We had a fish extender exchange and that was the highlight of the cruise for my boys lol!
I have never been on the Wonder I was wonder what differences ther was between the two ships?
Talk to you soon
Kristin

Hope, how did PT go? I have heard so much about running and knee problems, it's scary. I hope everything went well and it's not too bad. She must be crushed, especially knowing that she was going to be on Varsity this week. Please let me know how everything went.

Welcome Kristen!!! Glad to hear that you will be joining us. Oh, you cannot tell my girls that your 17 yr. old was able to bring a friend. We have already been through that and they are going to be so jealous. We'll just tell them that the 18 yr. old is yours too, ha, ha!

Myself and Hope have been on the Magic too, but not the Wonder, so we'll be looking at the differences too. I haven't been for 7 years, so I probably won't be comparing too much. I just remember how well they took care of us and what a great time we had. I'm sure, or at least hoping, it will be the same way on the Wonder.

Now, the fish extender thing is all new to me. I have read about it on the boards, but I don't think it was happening 7 years ago.

The football game was rained out. Well it was rained out for US. We waited in the parking lot for 20 mins. to see if it was going to let up and when it didn't we went home. I told my daughter to call me if they start to play. They did start the game, but the band was sent home, so we never went back. They did win the game!!! We have another home game, next Friday.

Well off to Great Wolf Lodge!

Cindy

PT went well. She was cleared to run. She is going to run with pain. We think it is associated with a new medicine she is taking. So, she ran her race today and did really well. There were 314 girls running and she placed 32nd! She was excited. We met her at the end with ice packs for her knees. She said it isn't anything that she can't tolerate for that short of time!

We sailed on the Magic in March of this year. So, it is fresh in our minds. I am anxious to see what kind of entertainment they offer. I loved the family entertainment in Rock'n Bar D @ 7:30 every night. It was great. I have been reading some of the navigators and it doesn't look like they offer that.

Since we are doing a B2B, we will get to have 2 sail away parties, 2 pirate nights & 2 stops @ Castaway Cay!! We are thrilled:love:

We will not be discussing the "bring a friend" issue at my house either :rolleyes1 We did do that once it went well, but I am not doing it again.

I read where the Wonder will be in Alaska in 2011. I bet I won't be able to afford that one! We were thinking about taking a cruise in 2011 to Alaska. I am sure it will be on Carnival.

Have a good evening !

Hi everyone~
Do not mean to just drop in on your thread, but I was WONDERing if anyone here decides they can not do this cruise or know of anyone that is schedule to do this cruise and by some means can not sail..... Would you please be kind enough to drop me a PM. The cruise is sold out for families of 4. :sad1: We were considering changing our Magic one for this one if we can. Thanks ever so much.:goodvibes

I was told by our DU travel agent that we got their last room that sleeps 4 in a CAT 11 when we booked. I was very lucky I believe. If someone cancels from this thread we will try to let you know. Good luck!!

I have the rest of the week-end to chill! So I am going to try to set up a ticker and fancy up my space here.
I will set up my son with the e-mails today Cindy.

Here is a question.......would it be tacky to wear my Disney's Castaway Club laynard on our Carnival cruise in November?

I can't remember for sure, but if they do it would not be in Mickey's Mates store...it would be in the one across the hall. I would say that they would.

We plan on leaving Friday mid morning and driving down. I live about 40mins. from Niagrara Falls on the Candian side. My son can drive:eek: so with 3 of us taking turns we thought it would be fun. (I really hate airports and fly on business sometimes.) I am a roadtrip kinda person.

Port Canaveral looks nice and my dh can sleep anywhere anytime so he can take a nap before we board.

So you are going to drive straight through? WOW...all night?? That is something I can't do. We live about 600 miles from PC. We aren't sure when we are leaving yet. We might leave Friday morning and stay in Orlando Friday night. We are thinking about going to Sea World on Saturday. Just depends on how much overtime my DH gets between now and then :)

Wish us luck. We are going to the doctor tomorrow to check out my daughters knee. She woke up this AM in serve pain. She said it felt like it was broken. I am sure it isn't by the way she is walking. We still need to get it checked out. She may be done with her running season :sad2:

Off to clean my bathroom....since I am stuck at home today I might as well clean :laundy:
