March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

Anyone know will we dock in PVR or tender? It shows 3 ships in port that day. Can't seem to find any info on this! It makes a difference on what time I book our ziplining excrursion.
Thanks,
Misand

Cabo is an all tender - but none of those ships will be in port with us.

The Mariner has pulled out of the Mexico market and the Carnival Splendor is the ship that was in the news a while back for an engine fire. It has not returned to service.

Yay!!! How fun :) We can sit together for the flights!!! We are also thinking about renting a car... I heard there is an Enterpise counter at the Crowne Plaza, I will have to see how much it costs for a one-way rental. I was also thinking about maybe looking at a tour with airport drop-off... (I don't even know if there is such a thing, but it might be worth looking into) Maybe for getting together, a Sunday afternoon would work best. I need to check with Denise and see if they can meet up, too... Denise, are you reading this???:goodvibes

Melissa,
Sunday afternoons are great - just not this weekend or Super Bowl weekend!! My sons boyscout pinewood derby is this Sunday and DH has some big plans!:cheer2: for the Superbowl! This is not confirmed by me but I hear it would be $40 extra to rent a car at Crowne Plaza for airport drop off and their hours are really wierd - they open at 10 am on that Sunday. So I dont know what were going to do! Still debating Las calentas at PV...wondering if it is really worth the $.
Remind me of the ages of your kids..sorry I totally forgot! I would love to meet Denise's crew too! Well, back to work for me! Chat later!:yay:
Teresa

Yeah - it looks quite fun - and the price is very reasonable. I am not certain, but it appears we just meet the crew right there at the dock once we tender in. The port at Cabo is not very large, so it should be an easy walk I hope!

The directions we have been given from Kraken is to get off the boat and right outside the gates there is a water taxi for $2 per person will take you to the marina that Kraken is in. We are still going just now day2 Cabo!

Hope,

I am excited for you to have an upgrade and I will cross my fingers that you are near us.

I also wanted to share the info that is needed if you want to ship anything to the ship before hand. I received this from DCL. I am bummed that we cannot ship water and soda. We did that when we went out of Florida and it was so nice to not have to carry any on. Oh well, we may still use it to ship other things that might be too heavy or akward to carry.

Here is the information you requested for the warehouse in Los Angeles:

Packages and boxed gifts can be delivered to the ship via Metro Shore Services.

Items that cannot be shipped to Metro Shore Services and delivered to the ship include: food products (all and any food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals and luggage. These items will not be accepted and will be returned.

For cruises leaving on Sunday, packages must be received by Thursday at 3:00pm.

The following information needs to be listed on the package being
delivered:
-Name
-Sail Date
-Ship
-Stateroom Number
-Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)

Here is the address:
Metro Shore Services
Berth 93A, World Cruise Center
Terminal Manager’s Office
San Pedro, CA 90731

Hello All. I've been away from the boards for a while. I'm so excited about the cruise and the FE. My family is me, DH, DS (10), and DD (8). We are in stateroom #2579
I read through all of the posts and I have the following:
1. I have not received a FE list since Dec 22. Has a new one been posted? Has it been split?
2. As far as excursions in PV. My family is going to a hotel walking distance from the pier. They offer a private beach, pools, water slides, pirate ship, and activities. The day pass is $35 p/adult and $18 children 6-12. It includes all activities, food, and beverages. Hotel is Crown Paradise Club PV. I've had contact with them and they are prepared for a group to join them that day.
3. Is there going to be an AZ meet and greet and Dave and Busters? We would love to attend.

Thanks, Denise

1. No we have not gotten an udated FE list yet. Dicechat has been busy, but I am sure she is working diligently to get it to us. We have 46 days left to plan.
2. Sounds like fun...
3. Yes we are having one the question is when. It is hard to have a meet that doesnt conflict with someones free time. Perhaps we should have two. There seems to be quite a few Zonies going on this cruise.
Im still up for Saturday Feb 5th at 1pm if anyone else is too. Not a school night and in the middle of the afternoon, so it wont be crowded. Anyone else?:confused3

Denise,

Erin (handling the FE list) has been a lucky person and she has been on the Dream and I think she leaves again tomorrow for another Dream cruise. So, she has just been really too busy to deal with the list. I am sure we will hear from her once she gets back home.

The Arizona meet needs to happen...So I am just going to throw this out there and see if we can make it happen.

Arizona Meet and Greet...Friday, February 4th at Dave and Busters at the Tempe Marketplace at 6pm. I know it will be busy, but it is a really big place so I am sure we can make it work. If it is just crazy busy we can always find another place. Also, anyone with kiddos bring them, too. Please reply if you are able to make it and how many are in your family. I will call Dave and Busters once we have an approx number and see what they can do. :dance3:

Sorry Mindy...I did not see your post about the meet until after I had posted mine. We cannot make it on the 5th, but if everyone wants to just do that no big deal. Could you make it on Friday night??

I'm good with anytime that weekend. My husband is another story, but the kids and I can be there:thumbsup2.

Awesome!! We are off to a good start. Looks like 3 families are ready to go. Thanks so much Mindy for being flexible. I am super excited to meet all of you!!

Hmmm. I could do 6pm, for about 20 minutes. I have to be at work across town by 7pm.

I wonder if we could do one on the 4th in the evening, and then another one for the next Sunday at 1-2ish? That way those who can't make one could make the other? I know the 6th wouldn't work because of the football game. :confused3

Maybe we can get together the Saturday night prior to departure in San Pedro for dinner, or drinks, or snacks, or to throw rocks at the seagulls, or something.

Meredith,

We have 2 adults and 1 child (11 that I think Disney classifies as an adult). I went on just now to our cruising plans on DCL and it still says reservations not available. I am looking at the Pirate Snorkel and Treasure Hunt on the Disney website. Where did you see that it was still available?

Does anyone know when they are going to list our stuff for the second day in Cabo?

Tracie,

It must still show up for me because we have a reservation. It must be like if you have a Palo reservation. If you go to book one, it will show it is available even if they are all sold out but what is available is the same time and day you already have. I figured this out last cruise. Sorry if I got your hopes up. We will make a decision soon if we are going to cancel. It is hard now that we have 2 days there to figure out what we want to do.

Meredith

Denise,
Hello! We are looking into the PV Crown Paradise Club. We cant seem to talk to anyone that knows about a "day pass". Can you advise who it was you talked to and when? This sounds exactly like what we want to do and having food, drinks, and a pool with beach included for that price is a deal!! It is me, DH, DS (8), DD (8), and DD (2) in our party!
Thanks for the post and sharing!:yay:

This looks really good. DH didn't want to get off the ship but now he is having second thoughts... We are travelling with DS6 and DD2 so this looks like it would be perfect as our kids are water rats!

The reviews on tripadvisor look good. The pirate ship water park has a Disney Theme, How perfect. In the photos online you can see cruise ships in the distance and they say it is within easy walking distance.

From the very beginning of considering this cruise I have heard mixed stories concerning the food quality. I just read a scathing review from a passenger that just got of the Wonder. It is entitled "Just got off the 2n Wonder in LA -- really disappointed". On the Cruise Critic Disney cruise Line link. Can't post link because I have less than 10 posts.

Any comments?

Meredith..No problem. We are thinking about doing the snorkel to Chileno Bay if the pirate ship does not work out.

Dave..So sorry...It is so hard to figure out a way to make it work with all the schedules. If two end up being the plan I am totally in for both. I am also game for getting together in San Pedro. We could even include our new friends outside of Arizona. We are thinking about going to the Ports of Call restaurant for dinner. Has anyone ever been there?

I have heard a departure time of both 1:30 and 2:30 for the last day in Cabo. Wonder which one is correct??

We are doing a day pass in PV too. I had emailed the Crown resort a few weeks ago and loved their price....$35 for adults; 18 for kids. Dreams Pv was the other day pass we were considering. It had better reviews and a nicer beach. Downside it is double the money. $75 for adults and $37.50 for kids. Plus a taxi ride. Supposed to be much less crowded then Crown Paradise.

Neither you have to reserve... Just show up and buy the day pass from the front desk.

Other resort option is the Krystal. I understand there is NO day pass needed. As long as you buy food & drinks you can use the facilities. I kind of like the all inclusive options better but Krystal is also a popular choice.

We are leaning towards Crown I think but may not decide until we get to Cabo that day!! See what mood strikes us!

We were on the Magic and it was the Med..so maybe we did have different food suppliers out there..but I can only imagine it's similar from ship to ship...and varies from port to port..but we felt the food was somewhere between Subway quality (meaning fresh and decent) to Carabba's or Macaroni Grille (bit finer dining but no 5 star)...we only had two to three things that we really detested...
1. Skip the scrambled eggs!! Blech..powdered eggs really..blech, I'm a big egg eater so I go to the freshly made omelets and was always happy.
2. Bacon...huh? How can they not get this right? chewy, rubbery, blech.
3. One dessert we had was spit out of your mouth horrific!! Sadly, it was on the 'finer' night of dining at Lumiere's (formal night)...it looked so luscious and chocolately, but I promise you I think they put water instead of oil into it. or either they forgot to put eggs into it...just imagine a brownie mix with just water in it...we all were so excited to eat it, I wish I had a picture to show all of our faces...even my mother spit it out..she would NEVER dream of doing that...but when it hit your tongue you were so confused you were really fearful of swallowing it!!

Could there be improvements, heck yeah, could it be done for a population of 2000 3x a day and then some, not easily....I just don't go expecting much and when I get slammed with a great shrimp appetizer I get happy! :)
