March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

I have not called Disney because I figure they don't know anything yet. There has been no impact to the Port of LA or Mexico so :confused3

Yikes......this is very sad for Japan. And now they are worried about shutting down a nuclear reactor there.

It looks like Southern California will be fine. The higher waves are supposed to hit more of the Nor.Cal and Oregon coasts. I'm sure there will be big waves but I doubt it will be too bad.

My fear would be for the continuing aftershocks and any rogue waves while we are on the ship.......

Okay, you could have gone all day, or at least until I have left for the airport to talk about Rogue Waves!!!

We can hope and pray that the news is over reacting!!!

The news tends to overhype things. I was watching CNN this AM and I think their weather guy was ready to burst out of his skin with excitement. "At any minute now, any minute, Hawaii will be hit with the tsunami. Unfortunately it's dark there so we can't see it." Really, dude? I mean, really?? I think he was trying to control from smiling and it just made me angry.

But I got 4.5 hours of sleep last night so I may be ultra sensitive right now. :rolleyes1

Trusting God will keep us safe and if we aren't safe and something happens, trusting God to see us through the challenges!

My sister just spoke to DCL and they said as of now this will not cause any problems for our cruise on Sunday. I'm keeping positive thoughts and my heart goes out to those in Japan.

Leaving for Nashville airport in five minutes. Going to stop to eat a HUGE lunch at Cracker Barrel before we board the plane!!

Safe travels and see you in two days!!!

Hope have a safe trip!!

It looks like both Carnival ships that were due to dock (in Long Beach and San Diego) this morning have been delayed (possibly due to fog), but they ARE still going back out today. If they have NOT had to change plans for TODAY then we will be fine on Sunday!!

That being said I do believe we are going, but I also think we are going to be in for some rough seas. So, if you suffer with seasickness (like me) make sure you have plenty of meds.

Also, we will have to have an extra dose of patience and compassion towards the cast and crew who very well may have family in Japan! Knowing this group I am sure they will be showered with lots of love!!

I'm hoping that the seas will settle by Sunday. 2 full days to calm down should be enough I think. I'm just glad it happened before our cruise and not during.

Anyone see the news video of the whirlpool off the Japan coast? Wow, I was was waiting for the Lost Dutchman to pop up out of the water. The only place I've ever seen one that big is on Pirates Worlds End

Here is the email I just received from our TA:

We just received an update from Disney Cruise Line regarding your Mexican Riviera sailing on the Disney Wonder on March 13, 2011.

*From Disney Cruise Line*

The Wonder is still scheduled to arrive back on port for its current sailing on Sunday, March 13, 2011 so the sailing scheduled for March 13, 2011 to the Mexican Riviera is currently planned to depart as scheduled.

As you know, this is a developing situation and we will keep up updated as information is available.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or requests.

Well with the tragedy in Japan and the scare of it effecting our trip I figure I will give you all some nautical humor to brighten your day:

Dead ahead, through the pitch-black night, the captain sees a light on a collision course with his ship.
He sends a signal: "Change your course ten degrees east."
"Change yours ten degrees west," comes the reply.
The captain responds, "I'm a United States Navy captain! Change your course, sir!"
"I'm a seaman second class," the next message reads. "Change your course, sir."
The captain is furious. "I'm a battleship! I'm not changing course!"
"I'm a lighthouse. Your call."

On my second flight now, and very worried about one of my agents that lives on Oahu. No one has heard from her:(

I am sure she is fine... all reports I have heard are that the waves were much smaller than anticipated in Hawaii... I had not heard about any missing people at all...

Have a safe 2nd flight! See you on Sunday!
