March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

Okay it has been a long time since I have posted - I can't believe the pages I had to read - good work girls!

Occupation: I am a grade 6 teacher and my husband is a lawyer
Makeup: What's that? Okay seriously, my 4 year old daughter owns more than I do
Books: Love John Erving - earlier novels; Harry Potter but read just about anything although during the school year it is often children's literature
Movies: No favourites that I can think of - being able to relax in front of a movie is bliss so as long as it isn't horrible I'm happy

Think I am caught up - I will definitely be looking into what Costa Maya has to offer although since we have a 4 year old we haven't signed up for any excusions since we figure we can do the beach thing on our own (usually the age cut off for most things is 5/6).

Mortlives, thanks for checking on that for us. Im actually looking forward to Costa Maya too. I love Cozumel, but since i have been there, itll be nice to see something completely new. We too are gonna have a beach day on our own. We leave VA in 25 days!! thats only three and a half weeks!!! WOOO HOO!! :cool1: :rotfl: :cheer2: :woohoo: party: :dancer: party:

Hello! Choople - you and I work for the same company. :surfweb: I'm based in the U.S.

I am a speechwriter / communications advisor - my real office is in NY, but I work from home in Florida.

My husband - Andrew is a stay at home dad who writes magazine articles and is in the process (slow slow slow) process of getting his first book published. :hourglass

My kids don't earn a living yet - but somehow they manage to save more money than I do! :lmao:

:thumbsup2 That is too cool Colleen!!!!
I also actually have the flexibility to work remotely right now, I have taken on the role in Canada as the Federal sector Risk manager and I have the ability to work from home a lot ... its great!!!

Hope to bump into you on the cruise...just look for the haggard Father following the two blonde teenage daughters and I should be around somewhere, more relaxed than Dad... hahaha

I have to share a story with everyone....we went out and bought the daughters formal gowns for the formal evening (after Christmas sales!!!) and they modelled them for poor ol Dad...I thought he was going to have a heart attack, he was all smiles to them, told them how beautiful they were, when they had left the room, he looked at me with such a pitiful look and said "I thought I was going on vacation, Im not going to be able to rest one second :sad2:

We are really getting excited....we fly in on the Friday afternoon and are staying at the Hyatt, what time does boarding begin??

I can imagine your husband's fear! My daughter is only three, and my poor husband is so worried about being in your husbands shoes one day! I am sure they will have a wonderful time!

I look forward to meeting you - join us at the Goofy Pool at 4:45 for the send off. (Is it deck 9 or 10??) But let's make one promise - no work talk! (I am the biggest offender of that one!)

Oh - I have several - yes more than one - lime green tops for the cruise! It's a hot color right now! :thumbsup2 Figure I'll wear the green on the first few days - and just let my freckles do the talking on St. Patrick's Day!

Good Night all!

WOO HOO 17 work days!

Choople - this is why I am so glad I have DSs. My DH would not be a good father of teen girls!

MickeyMania - I think the decision was deck 10 above the Goofy Pool on the side of the port...not necessarily the port (left) side...but the side closest to the dock (usually the starboard side). :boat: SO...have I confused everyone yet?? Be there in lime!

Colleen!!!..sounds like we have a lot in common, I promise no "Shop Talk" :badpc:
I am also Irish in descent, my Irish Dad would never forgive me if I didnt celebrate St.Patty's day in style.

Not sure about the Lime Green clothes for meeting (I usually stick to black!!!) but the Corona's are a definite :cool1:

We should be easy enough to spot, older couple, (compared to all of you) :rotfl: two blonde teenage girls  Looking forward to meeting you all!!!!

We have decided to stick to the DCL bus from the Hyatt, so 4:30ish it is on Deck 10 :woohoo:

Mom and I would like to wish all our fellow cruisers.....

 Happy Valentine's Day

We can't wait to meet you all...only 25 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! I'll be on the March 11 sailing, along with my DH, DS3, DD1, and my sister, her DH, DS8, DD4, DS6months, and her MIL! We're getting excited!

Does anyone have any tips especially geared toward the youngest cruisers (6 months and 16 months)?

Are any pool toys allowed in the pools? I know the babies can go only in the one ear, but can the 3 and 4-year olds use Floaties or anything like that?

HEY Welcome aboard sailingpartyof10!! :cheer2: You are gonna have a great time! We used arm floaties with my ds when he was 4. no problem there. Be sure to pm Mortlives so she can add you to our ever growing roster.

I am a newbie to posting, so bear with all my mistakes and breaches of posting etiquette. Myself, DH (both 40ish), DS8, and DS5 are all counting down and so excited. We've done the Wonder, but new to the Magic. I am a former teacher and now stay-at-home mom and DH is an editor with NBC News, so sounds like DH will have quite a bit in common with you other media types.

Was a little disappointed to hear about Costa Maya, but after researching all is well. Think we'll skip the port area and head to Mahahual for a beach day.

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day! I got my hubby some Carribean shirts for the cruise. Seems like everything we do lately surrounds the cruise! My girlfriend and I just went to Target and spent a gob on "little things" we just HAVE to have for the trip!

I am still trying to find a softsided cooler that I can bring some beer in. Anyone have a link to a decent one?

:welcome: Sailingpartyof10 & amesmom :welcome:

I can't tell you how much I MISS Target. I swear everythime I go Outside (lower 48), I send half my time in Target & Kohl's ! I did budget (time & $$) for a trip to Super Target on the way to the port!

kcarl021 - two years ago I got cooler at Target, but I assume you looked there! I'm bringing a freebie I got from ESPN Club at DL last year.

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE NEW CRUISERS!:welcome:

AND............

UPS just showed up at the door with DOCS!!

party:WHOOOO HOOOOO party:
They even have the new itinerary.

Well of course she won...Mickey lives in her back yard!!

I'm excited to watch a wave of docs go across North America until I get mine! Have I mentioned that I love the little box they come in ? :)

kcarl, Costco has a really nice softsided rolling cooler that collapses to nearly flat! I havent decided it im gonna get it yet though. I have a nice backpack cooler i got from... of course Costco. we may use that. OMG.. i just had a huge wave of excitment run through my veins. :woohoo: :cheer2:

Skatingmom, I too love that little box that the docs come in!! I love to sit down right away and fill them all out. Its like the first day of school when the kids bring home all the paperwork and the emergency card. I love that. I know, im nuts! :confused3

Have you all let your kids school know they wouldnt be there?
