March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

Well of course she won...Mickey lives in her back yard!!

I'm excited to watch a wave of docs go across North America until I get mine! Have I mentioned that I love the little box they come in ? :)

Sorry to disappoint you... but there was no little box. :confused3 They came in a UPS envelope, and inside was a DCL beige envelope with the doc booklet, new style luggage tags and a few other papers inside.
Funny... the luggage tags are DIS green!!

I do live in South Florida... and these came from Celebration so although they were sent UPS "3 Day Select" I probably got them a bit quicker.
Can't wait to see if anyone else got theirs!!

Oh well now I'm bummed! :sad2: Last cruise (3/04) docs came in a neat little cardboard box that looked like an old fashined suitcase, the kind with the leather straps around it. Oh well - that was my 2 sec. of disappointment because WE'RE STILL GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!

Haven't told school DSs will be out yet. I need to do that this week. Oh that reminds me...not sure why I didn't think of it sooner...I made cool little activity books/cruise journals for DSs. I used some of the WDW pages from www.mouseforless.com, but I made pages for each of the ports and sea days with my own 2 hands (gotta come up with something for Costa Maya now-great!) I'd be happy to share if anyone is interested - just PM me. They are in MS publisher and geared toward my K-1 DSs.

Yes, they must have changed it for this year... for our Repo in May last year we got the little box too. Guess it's cheaper to send an envelope. Anyway.. here are the times if anyone wants them.

Saturday Port Canaveral Depart: 5:00 PM
Sunday Key West Ashore: 12:30 PM Depart: 10:00 PM
Monday At Sea
Tuesday Grand Caymen Ashore: 7:30 AM Depart: 5:15 PM
Wednesday Costa Maya Ashore: 10:30 AM Depart: 6:00 PM
Thursday At Sea
Friday Castaway Cay Ashore: 9:00 AM Depart: 4:30 PM
Saturaday Port Canaveral Ashore: 8:30 AM

Hope this posts correctly!!

I am a former teacher and now stay-at-home mom and DH is an editor with NBC News, so sounds like DH will have quite a bit in common with you other media types.QUOTE]

Amesmom - Welcome! I know I am going to sound odd - because it always seems I something in common with folks on the board :rotfl: but my dh used to be an editor and WNBC and I was a producer! Is your dh at network? Your id didn't say what city you live in...

We used to live in NY - but now I live near PinDiva and the mouse. By the way - I live a few miles from Celebration and I have not received my docs!! But we did receive a note from DCL today saying we'd be going to Costa Maya... no duh! ;)

Belated Happy Valentine's Day to all! DH and I had dinner at the Brown Derby in MGM. We had a server who I recognized from my days on the Disney College Program (13 years ago!!) I have never eaten at that restaurant - although I trained as a server there. The food was great.

Okay - I've bored you all enough!! I am just so excited! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Colleen I can't believe you didn't get your docs!!! They only have to come across town!! Oh well.. this is the first time EVER that I've gotten them this early. Usually I don't get them until a week or so before.

Hang in there everybody.... at least you know they are on their way!!! Maybe since I booked last... I was on top of the pile to get processed!!

In the packet is a letter explaining the staggered dinner times... it doesn't tell you what yours will be... but it tells you the different times and says they are to "provide greater ease of movement throughout the ship prior to and following the dinner service" ????? It says all details will be detailed in the Navigators...
Funny... no mention of changing to Costa Maya in the letter... it's just listed in the itinerary in the booklet as matter of fact. Colleen was your note in the mail or email??

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Mickymania: DH used to be with NBC at the Atlanta bureau, now freelances. Now we live in Ames, Iowa. Not surprisingly, there's not much news of national importance going on up here, so he travels A LOT. Mostly does Nightly News and Today Show stuff at the bureaus in Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami. Luckily for the rest of the family, he still likes to travel for vacations. :cool1:

My Mom just called to say......

UPS just delivered our docs to us here in Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YIPPEE!!!

Now if feels like we're really going!!!!

We have to wait for CAA to pass ours along to us, but that's okay. It's worth it for the savings.

Guess we'll need to order our TripTik soon, too.

I almost forgot, when I sent my POTD to DH this morning, I sent him the weather report for Grand Cayman. I got to use the word humidex in February. :cheer2:

For those interested, it was 79 with a humidex of 83.:hmghost:

The snow is flying here. Supposed to get about 4 inches and DS8 just had school cancelled. Three weeks from tomorrow we're on a plane to sunny Florida!

Thanks to Mortlives for adding us to the party. See everyone on Deck 10. party:

two days ago it was in the thirties, now its near 70!! its great. but, its supposed to be in the forties again by this weekend! This is a really strange winter. :confused3

It's sunny and 36 degrees here in Alaska. So far this year we have had an "ice day" and a "volcano day" off of school, but no "snow day"! Our school busses are 4x4 so it doesn't happen often.

In exactly 21 days we will be landing in Orlando.

Right....about....NOW!

Have you seen, DIS now has a Western Navigators posted from Jan?! :hyper: An overplanner's dream! I managed to book my massage during the kid's show. DS5 is a total ham and really looking forward to it. Oh well, Gma and Gpa can watch the show without us.

I though we would have more time in KW. We don't get off the ship until 12:30pm & we will want to be back to get ready for dinner. Even with the late seating, it doesn't seem like much time. I'm a little bummed...but oh wait...WE ARE STILL GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!

Is anyone else making door signs? I'm trying! We are going on the "2006 Great Thaw Tour". What category rooms are y'all in? We have 2 of the SPH rooms :woohoo: Free daylight!

okay...I'm home now and just looked at my cruise stuff and the UPS envelope...boy DCL is quick...mailed from Celebration on 15 Feb 2006 - and arrived here in Canada at 10:30 am on the 16th!!!!!!!!!!

Sk8ingmom, We are in cat 9. Last time we were in cat 4. Now that was awsome, but i just couldnt bring myself to justify an extra 4k for a veranda. :confused3

I would love to do a door sign, However, i have absolutely no idea how. i need someone to walk me through it step by step.!

We will have a door sign...actually it is already done!!!!!

Jennifer...I can walk you through it.

The first thing to do is to visit either WalMart or your local office supply store and purchase a package of Magnet Sheets (in WalMart they are located in the craft section)

Then use WORD or another program to create a sign...there is a thread on the regular cruise line forum of examples of Door Signs.....

Then instead of putting paper in your printer...put the magnetic sheet...white side up (to be printed on)....press print and viola...customized Door sign!!!!!

If you have any questions....don't hesitate to ask here or send me a PM.

I seriously live 20 minutes (on a good day) from Celebration.. and I don't have mine yet :confused3

Not that it matters... I have so much work to do before I leave - the count down is starting to look more threatening than exciting!

The bright spot is - NO CELL CONNECTION and I am NOT bringing my laptop for an entire week!

My parents leave for their first ever cruise this weekend - Holland America. They are tickeled pink!

QoTD: We are in a cat 6... last minute decision to upgrade. Room 6114. Anyone ever been in or near that room?

Did you book through a travel agent? :scratchin I know Disney has been sending all my stuff to my agent who then has to send it on to me. No docs here yet, either.

We booked a cat 10 this time. Don't know if we will be claustrophobic with no window. Tried for the secret porthole, but no luck. We don't plan on spending much time in the cabin anyway. :sunny:

Cat 9 here. We've been in the inside rooms and they are just fine. I love the complete darkness for sleeping! :teeth: DH likes a window so we splurged this time :wizard: since he's having such a tough semester. We usually save the $$$ and get an inside room so I can spend more on pins....:rotfl: and also go on more cruises!! :boat:

Hello everyone! Wow! What a week at work! I can't believe it is already "friday" We are out tomorrow(celebrating President's Day), so this Thursday feels like a Friday to me! Just in case you're wondering why tomorrow instead of Monday...the first part of our state mandated achievement tests is on Tuesday and they are afraid the kids won't come back! Or maybe it's the teachers they are worried about! :confused3

We are in a category 6 this time. I can't remember my room, but it is on the 6th floor also. Very close to the pointy nose of the ship, I think (I can never remember which end is which.) No documents for us, but they too are going to the travel agency who will then forward. I am really excited! I am afraid that just like every other vacation it is going to sneak up on me and I will not be ready! I don't want to stay up all night Thursday the 9th getting ready! I am not going to do it...final last words every time. I need to be more organized. :teeth:
