March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

What Disney Character....

Well that's easy....Mickey so I could be on each and every Disney cruise!!!!!!!

Leslie...you are NOT the Evil Queen....you are MY Fairy Godmother!!!

I can't wait to make the Palo ressie rush....whatever that is...I'm game....just tell me when and where.

I'll have to make sure Mom is IN FRONT of Leslie in the Buffet line...or else we will find her "stealing" shrimp from Leslie's plate!!!!

Yes, I guess I have a split personality....:rotfl: Evil Queen by day pixiedust: Fairy Godmother by night.....:rotfl2: Or is it the other way around....;)
Mom can steal shrimp off my plate... I promise not to stab her with a fork....:rotfl:

Sk8ingMom... they were actually recruiting for :tink:Tink a couple years ago... very stringent height and weight requirements.... needless to say I DID NOT QUALIFY!!! :lmao: A couple :mickeybar made me feel better though....:maleficen

OK ladies, heres a totally ot question of the day... What kind of makeup/ face care products do you use? I like to use Dove face care products. I like the face wash with the little beads in it :thumbsup2 . And I like their moisturizer. They discontinued the one for sensitive, but i found a ton at Big Lots. WOO HOO (gotta save those pennies for the cruise).
but as for makeup, I LOVE Bare essentuals!! All my girlfriends kept telling me about it and i was like Whatever! :sad2: . But after i tried it, i was hooked! oh i almost forgot. I really like the new xxl mascara. The one with white on one side and black on the other.

They didn't have online spa and Palo reservations last time we cruised (2004) so we boarded and DH went to the spa to make our ressie and I went to make our Palo ressie (DH was first in line, I was third - I love Disboards!) So basically we spent the first hour or so of our cruise not only apart, but waiting in line. Not very magical!

DinseyPinDiva - OOOOH what were the height and weight requirements for flying Tink???

QotD: I'm a sort of a cheapskate. I use Mary Kay foundation and powder, the rest of it is a mix of drug store brands (cover girl, loreal, maybelline, etc.) I really like Neutrogena lipstick, cleanser and toner. My splurge is Origins Shine Control. I discovered it when we lived in FL, it really works!

CastawayStowaway - I've always been intrigued but the Bare Minerals stuff, just not willing to spend (and potentually waste) the $$$.

We leave Anchorage at 2 a.m. on Thurs. 3/9. 4 weeks from this moment we'll be in the air - probably over Idaho!

I know this is a very vain question - but one I must ask... I have very curly hair that I try to straighten on most days - especially if we are going somewhere nice like Perkins :rotfl2: I have two small kids - Perkins tends to be one of the week's highlight! :lmao:

How difficult is it to keep your hair from frizzing up on the ship? My guess is that it would be close to impossible to avoid it.

Anyone in the same boat??

So you wanna be :tink: ... Must be maximum of 5'1" and under 115 lbs. :rotfl2: and of course not afraid of flying thru the air on a wire.... wait.. did I say that... oh.. I meant being sprinkled with pixie dust and "magically" flying thru the air.

Makeup: Don't use too much of it. I use Oil of Olay products. Loved their foundation until they discontinued it. Now I buy Rimmel and use a dab of it mixed with my Olay moisturizer when I have to. Most of the time I just go with the Olay moisturizer with sunscreen, a bit of mascara and I'm hooked on the Cover Girl Outlast lipstick in 626 Canyon.

Hair: straight and thin so I keep it short. Colleen.. wear a hat. LOL Other than for formal pictures.... don't worry about it... you don't want to spend all your time in that little bathroom fixing hair!!

I want to play, too! 4 weeks from this moment, we should be just about to West Virginia.

Four weeks from now i will probably be sitting right here on my computer when i really should be packing!! :teeth:

Same here!!! :surfweb: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sk8ingmom, I dont spend hardly anything on Bare essentuals. What you gotta do is go to Ulta, or wherever there is a counter, try the colors, then go home jump on the computer and buy it off Ebay for a fraction of the price :thumbsup2

Leslie - Me thinks it is an endless battle with the curls... would a baseball cap look bad with a formal dress? :lmao:

Okay - off topic, but.... on Sunday we rode Everest at Animal Kingdom. OMG!! It is amazing... my 6 year old went on 6 times!! :Pinkbounc (I went on a mere 4 times!)

If you get a chance before or after the cruise - it is sooo worth it. The best attraction yet! (IMHO)

Oh my... 1 month from tonight I will be panicking trying to make sure all of my work is done. (I am taking Friday off - simply because I'll need to get in vacation mode...)

It is not as :rotfl2: as you might think - I'm 5'2" ! I'm OK on weight too, at least pre-cruise...post-cruise not so much! (I've lost 24 lbs. since last August) This may be the first time in my life that I wish I was shorter! Gotta go to plan B - bird lady in the Lion King show!

On the make up - it has less to do with the actual make up you use, and more with your skin care ritual. As I said before, I am 33 and my husband is 28, so I know a bit on this topic!

I suggest hydrating facials every 6 to 8 weeks and a good daily skin care routine. The best stuff is Cetaphil (you can get this at Walmart super cheap!) At night, use a moisturizer with Alpha Hydroxy and also, use an eye cream (I use Hylexin, try sephora for that...) Mornings, use a moisturizer with some SPF (I use DDF, the Desperate Housewives cast uses it and it is amazing...) and something around the eyes.

It is absolutely about your skin - not the make up. I use Cover Girl from Target, and I get so many compliments! The only other thing I do is drink water - lots of water. It's my drink of choice when I am not drinking wine! :rotfl2:

I am totally psyched about this trip!!!! Are we just hoping to meet up on Deck 10 or should we have more specifics? I really want to see everyone!

How many days... how many days...

PS - I am no longer pissed at my boss. But I still say Jasmine. She's got spunk!

OK, so I was relaying the Tink requirements conversation to DH. He looked at me with a straight face and said, "Well, it won't be long before you start shrinking." GGGRRRRR! Why am I even taking this man on vacation??? :furious:

I'm thinking maybe I can get anough people to clap and chant "I do believe in fairies" I can shrink an inch and a few lbs.!!

MickeyMania - Alas, I too suffer from wavy, frizzy hair. I wish I had a miracle cure, but I don't. Biosilk is pretty good & I use Paul Mitchel leave in conditioner. FL is evil on hair (I lived there '98-'01). I keep waiting for big '80's hair to come back - at least I'll be stylish! :smooth:

I'm SOOOO excited about EE! I hope we get a chance to ride it the week after the cruise.

Sk8ingmom, what i think your DH is saying is that since youve already lost 24lbs.,(woo hoo to you girl! great job) that you WILL be Physically shrinking! :thumbsup2 ;) . Horizontally, not vertically of course.

I think we did establish some specifics about meeting @ sailaway. I think we agreed on Meeting on deck 10 above the Goofy pool. For all you gals that have niver been on dcl, MAKE SURE you are on deck when we sailaway. You definately do not want to miss the ships horn! Anyone know how i can make that my cell phone ring?

I think youre definately right on it being the skin that matters more than the makeup. I used to drink sooo much water, but i have to admit that im a water snob!! I really LLOOOVE reverse osmosis water. We had a system under our sink in Ca. We dont have one in our new house and I dont like the way the water tastes out of the fridge. I know full well that im nuts and that its all in my head, but after over nine years of being home with kids  , Im just glad there is anything goin on up there!!

Sk8ingMom.. WOW.. I'm impressed. I was :rotfl2: at the fact that I could NEVER qualify for Tink.. but you're so close... you never know!! What's an inch among pixies!! :tink: Follow your dream.... apply!!

Colleen: I think a sparkly ballcap would work just fine....:thumbsup2 Start a fashion trend. ;)
I thought we had the sailaway meet all settled?? Dock side(which is usually starboard) of Deck 10 midship at 5 pm. Okay 4:45 so we don't miss the start of the festivities. We can meet earlier if you like, just have to leave time for the safty drill and then getting back to the cabin to put those bulky life vests away!! Even if we don't pull out on time... they usually start the festivites at 5pm anyway. :woohoo:

I can't wait to ride Expedition Everest. Missed the preview :sad2: so hopefully we'll get to ride when we go up for the cruise. Trying to sneak a trip in before then but Joe's schedule is so rough this semester it's almost impossible with his late Friday classes. :teacher:

Oh, no - he completely meant to imply that I'm getting old!

We leave in 27 days and OMG do I need to get out of here. We had an "ice day" on Monday (schools closed, DH & I couldn't go to work because the only road out of our neighborhood was closed). Ice on our street and driveway was 3" thick - we were actually ice skating on the street in front of our house! That's weird even for Alaska. Today is just as bad. It warmed up enough to rain and then froze! I'm not exactly sure how or when I'm going to get home from work. I'm really looking forward to the only ice I see being the slushy alcoholic concoction in my glass!

My family and I will be on this cruise, It will be our first time ever on a cruise.
Really starting to look forward to it!!!! It will be myself, Wife, Son-12 and son-8. They are really looking forward to spending time in the oceaneers club.
Hope we get to meet some of you while on this trip!

party: :welcome: party:

Welcome aboard Capt.80. You and your family will have a great time!! :wave2: I have a DS that is 9, and a ds that is 5. I dont know if they are, but I am looking forward to them spending time in the clubs!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: . Send your dw on over to this board too. I dont think we have enough estrogen goin' on! pirate:
