March 10, 2013 - 4 day Dream Getaway!!

I think DCL limits the number of kids onboard so they do not over crowd the kids clubs. The adult pool never seems to be very busy, several times we had the pool all to ourselves. Chair saving is still a problem at the pools especially on sea days. We always hit the pool deck and Aquaduck as soon as we can after boarding as this can be the least crowded time during the whole cruise.

I read something somewhere that said if you go concierge they have a special deck? Not sure we are there yet 'concierge' as we paid $2700 for 4 days already. Then looking at Cabana's another $500 There are 7 of us and I'm thinking Concierge may not be financially worth it? I don't even know how much more I'm looking at? Oh well, I like the masses :hyper: but not the pushy rude one I encountered on my first cruise. Sure hope she misses this cruise :goodvibes

Good morning fellow future cruise friends :surfweb: Does anyone know if the window clings work on the door as well or is it just magnets?:flower3:

Magnets work because the door is metal but those window clings stick to just about anything in addition to windows so I would think they would stick to the doors too.

Even if for some really odd reason they don't stick to the door- you could put them on the mirror in the bathroom for the day or porthole/sliding door if their room has one.

Fun idea!

I am also not a big swimming fan, but I do like to rest on a lounge chair and feel the fresh ocean air :goodvibes Does Disney have a policy about chair saving?

As was mentioned earlier- there isn't a policy on 'chair saving' and when we cruised 18 months ago- on the sea day- people were up at 7 am putting stuff on the loungers by the pool. It was pretty nutty. If you don't need to be by the pool- one of the lower decks has really nice loungers with cushions positioned all around the outside of the deck. Plenty of sea air and really comfy! It is the same deck people use to run/walk around the whole ship. I never had a problem finding those loungers free.

It is great to see our little thread on page 10!

Hope everybody is doing well with their holiday prep!

I think that's not correct any more, because they were doing something about it when we were on the Dream in July. Some mamas with princesses came and stood in the princess line in front of us and one was mad that one of the workers said something to her about saving all those seats but not sitting there. She said they'd be back in a little bit, but the princess line was about an hour and then I saw them about two hours later doing something else. :confused3 I heard something about "seat saving" on the ship from cast mates several times. They are trying.

The reason why they want you to use magnets is it doesn't ruin the door or leave a residue. Some of those gel ones have left residue on our windows, so I would just be very careful.

I had my mastectomy last week and it looks like I won't have to have radiation, which is good; all the lymphnodes that they took came back negative as well. We still haven't canceled the cruise, so I'm trying to talk DH into letting my best friend come with me instead. He's thinking about it, as I'll be right in the midst of my chemo sessions. I'll be talking to the oncologist on Thursday about this!

So good to see you posting!! I hope your recovery is going smoothly and continues to. Great news things were negative! I hope the oncologist says that a 4-day tropical break from reality will be a perfect complement to your treatment plan!

Good point on the 'residue' of those gel clings too.

Also glad to know the CMs are trying to do something about it! Since you were just on the Dream in July- that is pretty current info.

Continued good thoughts for a smooth recovery!

Ohhhh Juliebug my prayers to you. My friend was diagnosed and made it through 'the fight of her life' she says. It was not easy. The chemo was very hard on her... That being said, you may wish to push the date of your cruise up if you can without a penalty? You don't want your man with you for this fight? However you decide my prayers to you.

I appreciate the well-wishes, but, as others have said, everyone reacts differently to chemo. I know folks who haven't lost their hair; some have gained weight during chemo while some have lost. Unless I feel like total garbage, I want to try to go.

My husband works and, while his job has been very gracious throughout this whole thing, he will be very limited in his vacation days for the coming year. He has said that he would be fine with it. Just because I go somewhere without him doesn't mean he's not supporting me or that I don't want him there. Sometimes, it's just not feasible for him to be with me due to some work commitments.

I completely understand :guilty: and I deal with a chronic illness that will only kill me in the end so I totally get it. As long as your surrounded by loved ones or a loved one You are exactly where you should be. My prayers to you. There is a saying 'Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away. :flower3:

:wave2: I'm overwhelmed with the magnet thing... I'm just lurking at this point as it seems too hard?:confused3 We'll see

Thanks for adding me. I checked out the hanging FE nets and they sell them, but I think I may craft a little something. My SIL and BIL and 2DN's (12 and 14) will be joining us as well. I'm going to see if they'd like to join us so I can craft an FE for them as well. It sounds like fun popcorn::

I made my fe as well. It's fun that way. I was never able to make an image for magnets. I've always relied on the disboard talent.

Hello all!
Just checking in a bit late with everyone!!!
We'll be on the cruise (our 2nd) with our best friends and their two boys (their 1st). We're so excited! We'll be driving down and staying at Vero Beach through the rest of March break before driving back. So no parks for us on this trip...
Our friends are nervous cruisers...and not big Disney fans (:confused3I know right! Seriously!) So we won't be joining the FE gang for this one. BUT we're still just as excited to join the discussion as see what everyone is planning for their trip.
On our first cruise, we stayed on board in Nassau, and really loved the quiet ship. Although I think my boys got a bit bored - as there weren't too many activities going on that day. This time I've booked the excursion to the fort (so something small and laid back).
I'd love a cabana - but they're all sold out - I'm sure some of you got lucky!:goodvibes
No other big plans for us. Palo for brunch (that'll be a first), Stingrays on CC (another first) and lots of relaxing and goofing around!
If any of you with teenagers are looking to connect before the trip, feel free to PM me. My eldest son is 15 so he'll be headed to the teen club on his own, the other three boys will be 12, 11 and 10 so they'll all have each other in the tween club.

Hey Bouldering is your ticker or my ticker wrong? Yours says 3 months, 3 days... Mine says 3 months, 2 days? I think mine is... Wtheck?:confused3 I punched in March 10th:crazy2::crazy2:

Not sure if my ticker is wrong. All I know is I'm ready for my first cruise. I do hope the weather is nice, and a little worried about water temps for some of the excurisions I have booked. Have read that March the water is still cold. Booked a hotel near the ship for night before cruise. I understand that dress up night is the 2nd night of cruise. Are yall dressing up? DH in slacks and long shirts?

I really like seeing my countdown too :cheer2: Weeeee 89 days peeps :)

I want to dress up as it may be our only opportunity to get a nice family picture. My husband is a businessman so he will most likely have a suit or suit jacket with dress slacks. Us ladies (me and dd14) will have our party dresses on :goodvibes

I've also been fascinated with the magnet boards... but I'm having trouble viewing all the graphics as when I click on the links it will only show one or two of millipies - whom I found were the nicest. I'm not sure how to request? Also, the cabana's are sold out? I couldn't even book any excursions until Dec. 25th and that's where I was told to look :confused3 Oh well, I'll have to race for an umbrella as my body does not do well with heat. If all else fails I may just have to go back on the boat  Waaaaaaaaa

Oh well, just saved $500 that's a good way to look at it. Time to get to work. See ya all soon :drive:

Hello everyone, I have not been on in forever. Juliebugg you are in our thoughts and prayers, I hope all goes well for you so you can come on this trip and have a good time. I read in earlier posts that some had questions about the water at CC. Well us Floridians were freezing our butts off, but my kids still went in the water(it will be 3 years ago):santa:. Also I know most of Floridas Spring Break is in March(the week we are on the cruise).

The Feb 1st cut off is fine with me for the FE. I guess when we get closer we will have a finally plan on it?

Hubby is away for work this week, when he gets back I will give you our state room #, have no clue where the paper work for that is. We are all paid, Palo is booked. WOO HOO.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. If you celebrate something else, have a good one. :santa:

:wave2: Leslie.

I figured out as a first time cruiser I can only book any excursions, activities i.e. Palo's after Dec. 25th. I e-mailed Disney and they told me I won't even see what's available until after Dec. 25th so I guess if I ever become a repeat customer I can book earlier? Is that how it works? I was looking at Palo's and depending on the activities of my dd14 dh and I may getaway for a sunset dinner. Any idea what time would be best to enjoy the view?

This will be our first cruise...celebrating our 30th anniversary! We can start booking things on Christmas Day. I am thinking about spa treatments but I'm not sure of what else I should book. Anyone have any suggestions?

:flower3: I've been reading alot about Palo's. It's a seperately priced dinner... I think an extra $15 pp but I heard it's worth it. If you time it just right they say the sunset dinner is something to see. 30 years CONGRATULATIONS. You should try this. They say the sunset times fill up so make sure you know the approximate time the sun goes down in that area.

:)

This will be our 7th Disney cruise and 3rd on the Dream. We just booked the three night after this cruise as well! We knew 4 nights just wouldn't be enough. It will just be me and dh this time...keeping the kids at the grands.

Thank goodnes I dont have to clear snow here in Houston, Tx tomorrow is high of 65 with rain and Sunny this weekend with high of 57. Burr!! that's cold to me. We just drove to Florida for Christmas to see family/friends. My kids dislike the long drive, I dont like to drive stright through so we ended up stopping on the road and making it a 2 day drive. Cant wait to turn around and make the drive back to Florida for our first cruise. :yay:
