The weather here in central Florida has been quirky lately. Two days ago we were melting and today we're freezing (of course, we freeze at about 65 degrees!). So be prepared for both types of weather when you get down here.

my DS cannot wait to meet other children his age, he is very social and sweet and I am sure will help pull the shy ones out of their shell. His name is Aidan and he is 8, (not sure if I told anyone his age yet). Can't wait to meet you all either!)

Can you tell me anything else you know about Pirate Night, or where I can find out? My daughter just told me she wants to be a Pirate for Halloween this year, so I bet she would love this! We have some pirate clothes we should pack. I'm glad you mentioned it, or I wouldn't have known about it!

My girls are dressing up. I didn't think my almost 13 year old would want to but she does. They are all really excited about it!

He will love to meet her, he has an even blend of male and female friends and can adapt to any situation!! This is going to be so much fun, I feel I am so unprepared.

My ds surprised me by begging for a suit!! This kid usually grumbles at button down shirts or a nice sweater but for some reason really wants a suit. He has no need for one, so we compromised and found an inexpensive blazer at Children's Place. So I guess he'll wear that for formal night. We're at Palos semiformal night. Most boys will wear a nice shirt, maybe with a tie, which is what I had planned.

Unfortunatly, on a seven day cruise, you must purchase the 7 day wine package.
The three day is not an option for us, only people cruising for three days. You can order three bottles of wine once on the ship though. We did the seven day wine package and yes, it was A LOT of wine for us but was a very nice option to have it preordered. They ask you at dinner what you would like, white or red, and offer suggestions based on your food selection. This includes dining in Palo as well. If you don't finish the bottle, they will hold on to it for you, or you can take it back to the room.
What we do now, if we feel like wine, is open a bottle in our stateroom, ( that we brought on board) and carry it into the dining room in our wine glasses ( leaving the bottle in the room )That way we are not paying for a corking fee in the restaurant.They allow you to do this and will provide wine glasses in your stateroom. People often sit at the lounges before dinner and bring their drinks in the dining room, so it is really no different.

I was really confused when I read your post because I hadn't seen that info anywhere. So I just called Disney cruise line to inquire about the wine package. I was actually able to purchase the 3 bottle package. She said I'll have instructions in my cabin on how to retrieve the bottles. YUMMY.

We all dress up for formal night and for semi-formal night. It's our time to get nice family pix since we never get to it during the year.

I got my DS (4yr old) a simple suit at JCPenny. They sell them as a 3 piece with vest and clip on tie. He re-wears the shirt and pants for semi-formal night. But you'll see all levels of dress. Kids can definitely get away with very casual dress. C'mon..they are kids!!!

Who is signing up for alcohol tastings??? Which ones are you interested in if you are. I want to do the wine for sure, cognac perhaps, not a fan of tequilla but I do love margaritas, martini would be cool, I love beer but not sure if I will do that one....oh ya just 49 posts left to go!

I am planning to do tequila and martini for sure. None of the beers excite me. I do not drink wine.

Hey folks

This is our second cruise ever (re-booked last year on the Magic Western!). Seeing as everything won't be as NEW and EXCITING as the first time, here are a couple of things I'd like to do this time around that I just never found the time to last cruise:

a) Watch the sunrise on the ocean. Saw a few sunsets, not one sunrise!
b) We saw every stage show the first time - perhaps check out the "other entertainment"? I'm sure my daughter would love the karaoke this time around.
c) Have breakfast at Lumiere's. I didn't even realize that was an option until AFTER my first cruise ... lol. Apparently it is normal breakfast fare, but I'd like the nice sit down option.
d) Take the time to plan our days at sea with the Navigator from the night before instead of winging it the day of
e) I'm not going to get worried we aren't having AS MUCH FUN AS WE POSSIBLY CAN! We haven't booked anything yet for our St Thomas / St John day. And I'm not stressed about that! If something that REALLY gets me interested comes up, great. If not - we'll figure something out. (Looks like it MAY be pretty crowded anyhow!)
f) Go for a swim in the adult pool .. didn't even put my toe in the first time! Sad, I know ... lol. I did manage to save 7 different loungers there with assorted towels however ... ... ok, I'm kidding.

For the folks that it is your first cruise, or first DCL cruise, I strongly suggest going to the DIS meet on the first day. You'll meet some pretty awesome folks from all over the world - many of whom are veterans of cruising and would be happy to help you out anyway they can. It's great to be walking the ship and recognizing folks ... it doesn't seem so big and scary when you are with friends.

We have a DS who will be 8 in June. Hopefully, we can introduce them. He loves the kid clubs and is really looking forward to going.

Thanks for the input. Love seeing suggestions on things to do. I should be awake for the sunrise on my birthday. Want to start it off right.
