Marathon Weekend - Where ya staying, how long, etc...

DH and I are going.
Both of us are doing the Half.
Going to call DVC tomorrow. Will try to get a room at either BLT or AKV.
Will be staying Jan. 7-12.
We will be flying, but may rent a car. Still undecided on that one.

Also, we will be joined by a young woman from our church who is doing the Mickey.

This will be my first full marathon and first Disney race. We are travelling with our good friends who are equally obsessed with Disney. This will be their first trip to WDW and first full marathon as well.

We just got our plans all set. A friend an I will be coming down on Thurs the 7th. I'm trying to talk her into the 5k while I volunteer. DH and DD will join us on Friday and the whole gang will hang out until Monday. We are running Goofy and just book a 1 bedroom at BLT

Can't wait to see everyone. Just have to decide if we have the funds for the Illumination Dessert Party this year...

I was wondering if anyone has stayed at Coronado Springs during marathon weekend before? I noticed that it's pretty spread out and has several bus stops - do the runners have to head over to the main building for bus pick up or are there pick ups at each stop? What's Pop like during marathon weekend(never stayed at a value before)? Is it noisy? Just trying to explore some alternatives to the Poly...

Where are you staying? Probably POP because I really want to take the whole family (6 people, 2 rooms). Unless I win the lottery or something, then I'd love to try POR. stayed in POFQ last time and really loved it.
What dates are you staying? So far, looking at Jan. 6-13

Which race are you participating in (racing or volunteering)? doing the marathon
How are you getting to Disney? Flying because a drive from Idaho with 4 kids would probably make my brain melt

Which race are you participating in (racing or volunteering)? Walking the 5K, Half Marathon and volunteering for the Full again!!

How are you getting to Disney? Driving up from South FLA

What mode of transportation are you planning to use while in Disney? Disney Transportation, buses/boats/monorails etc.

I stayed at Coronado Springs for the 2009 Half, and I know that the buses for the expo and marathon spectators went around to each bus stop. I believe race day transportation for the runners was only provided from/to the main building.

Shifting gears, I now have my 2010 stay booked. We will be at OKW, with DH running the half and me running the full. Our stays will be slightly staggered so the kids don't miss any school. He's checking in 1/7, the kids and I are arriving after work/school on 1/8, he and the kids go home 1/10 and I go home 1/11. Whew! We are flying and will probably use WDW transportation, but that's not set in stone yet.

I am officially booked at POP!!! Guy on the phone said he was getting alot of phone calls for booking during that weekend. 407wdwirun. I got Pop for the marathon package room only. Price per night is around 96 including tax. Had to give the customary deposit of $200.00

Ok I put down my deposits today - we're doing a split stay Pop and Poly

Haven't booked anything yet but this is the plan.

Arrive Thursday night for room only (Poly) then do a package from Friday-leaving Friday morning.
I was going to wait to see what package rates were going to be for 2010 but do you think it'll be too late to book Poly? I've never stayed there before and am very excited!
I'm running the Goofy and my sisters are both running the full.
I live in Ontario Canada so definately flying and doing buses and monorail around Disney.

Also I dont think we can afford next year , any speculation for 2011 dates?
It looks amazing fun, even for 26+miles!
