John is doing Goofy this year so is planning on getting a massage after the half to help his legs recover for the full. Since neither one of us did this last year we thought we would come to the experts for some advice......

I believe the cost is $10 for 10 min.; $20 for 20 min; etc. Is this correct?

Do you think 20 min is long enough or should John get 30 min?

Do you tip the person giving the massage? If so, is the stardard 15-20%?

Do you just go to the massage tent & wait in line or do you sign in?

If you sign in, do you have to stay right there or can you go walk around a bit & come back?

Is the wait usually long? (John will be coming in towards the back of the pack)

Any other tips and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Karen - I walked right in after teh full last year. Mayeb there was a 2 min wait, but not more than that.

I wanted 20 min, but when I walked in she just said, "That's $10." It seemed liek a little more than 10 minutes, but it did wonders fro me!!! DOn't think he;kll need more than 20 min, if that really is an option and I just looked confused so she told me the min. DOn't think so, but you never know...

You go in, sign in, pay adn wait for a table, if there's a wait. There may have been a short line to sign up. Very short.

I didn;t even think to tip last year, but I think I'd do 15 to 20% this year. Heck, it's prbably easier just to giver them a $5. In my mind, that $10 was so worht it.

Wow, Carrie - you only had to wait a few minutes?!!! Double wow. The reason I say that is because in the VIP tent last year, I waited for over an hour to get a massage and when I saw that I still had another hour to go, I left. It was pathetic. Of course, the massages were free but had I known there wasn't that much of a wait for the massages for the masses, I would have gladly paid $10 for one.

yeah, I also waited about an hour for a massage in the VIP tent. The massage was worth the wait, I think it helped me recover after Goofy. It seems like the massage was at least 30 minutes? The massage therapists in the VIP tent were students--almost done w/ their school, but still students. (They were getting their "cliinical" hours. I did not tip.)

3 years ago I had a massage at BWI after marathon--again, very worthwhile.

When I do it again--I won't do the VIP tent (not worth it). Probably get a massage at the resort on Sunday afternoon. I was so gnarly after the marathon last year--dried sweat (salt), stinky (), vaseline and biofreeze leftover goo, and can't forget the blisters on the feet. I think showering first makes it a more pleasant experience!!! ::yes:: The $10 for 10 min or $20 for 20 min massage tent sounds pretty awesome -- and pretty hassle free. By the way, the therapists really did not seem to care how gnarly the runners are--it just bothered ME!

lol. Good point! I was feeling awful, bu tshe never showed how nasty I was it all. :p

Karen: I did the 10 min for $10 after the 1/2 the past 2 years Goofy. Well worth it and it was more than 10 minutes. It was enough to get me ready to walk back to BWV through EPCOT. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get mine. While waiting, I went to the med tent to get ice for both legs.

Carrie & Robert - Thanks for the info. Glad the wait hasn't been too long in the past. Hopefully this year will be the same.

Susie & 10nis - Interesting that the wait was longer in the VIP Tents.
