Marathon Weekend 2027

The problem is I'm already 2 pairs in (Mickey and MW26) and I'm pretty sure they will get me at W&D and MW27. At some point I need to run in them or I'll have more shoes than parks. 😂
But, that's a good thing! LOL. I am with you. I have three pairs of rD Brooks. And I know I will definitely get more at MW27. Heck, I keep thinking about snagging a pair of the DL ones on ebay.

How is everyone cleaning their running shoes? Do you throw them in the machine and hope for the best? Sink clean? Just use a rag and toothbrush? The toe boxes on mine are looking a bit dirty from spring rains.
Running shoes I just toss in washing machine if they get particularly gross, cold water gentle cycle. I've never had an issue doing this.
My RunDisney Brooks and other shoes I don't destroy every 4-5 months running in... I use whatever sneaker specific cleaning product I can find in my son's room.

i run on a compact dirt/gravel trail and my shoes will change color after a nice long run. they go in the wash on delicate and then air dry. have never had any issues and my shoes will usually like 5-6 months before i retire them.

I am pretty late to SAFD this week… Got a surprise from Springtime Surprise in the form of a nasty cold. Can’t prove anything but while sitting in Country Bear Jamboree I heard (and felt - so gross - along the side of my face) a sneeze. Regardless spent the last day in DW, travel day and two days at home fighting a cold. Good times…

Over the years I have managed to stay at most of the resorts with the family or on solo trips and have enjoyed them all. During the pandemic we bought a Copper Creek DVC contract and have stayed there many times. It is by far my absolute favorite for the theming, the ambiance, the food and the DVC pool hot tub. We are also big fans of AKL and hope to buy a small resale contract there some day. After spending the past two years at other resorts we will be going back to CCV for MW27, super excited. And I just updated my “___ Days until Disney World” count down calendar on the mantel; only 255 days to go! :)

I came home with a lovely little cough myself. First time in a while that I brought a present home.

I would have dived head first into a bucket of sanitizer if I felt that. 😵‍💫

I think I've washed a pair of shoes once in the washing machine. By that point, they were no longer running shoes and just walk around shoes.

I train in one pair of shoes at a time and they accumulate filth until they've finished their lifespan as running shoes. If they still look presentable, they become walking shoes. If they look rough, they become lawn mowing shoes.

I do have one pair of New York City Marathon shoes that will never be run in that I save for "special occasions." I plan to buy a pair of rD shoes in 2027 that will be park shoes.

The runDisney New Balance shoes were actually my gateway drug to runDisney and marathons. Like I assume many of you, I was into Disney first and running second. I learned about the rD New Balance shoes and then learned you could only get them at the expo, so I decided if I'm going to do a marathon, I'm going to do it there and get those shoes.

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with the 2017 options and I think maybe they had them in 2019? I figured they'd just always be an option, but then that partnership with New Balance ended. I searched for years for the Sorcerer Mickey shoes in my size, but it never happened.

This year, I am fairly committed to finding something I like.

SW's calendar opened a few days ago through Jan 5th. Can anyone comment on if the prices at release were any good? I checked that evening, and they were......not. At least the airport I would use. Just debating between finding a price I can live with through united, or wait until next month for SW (since I can turn chase points into miles for either of these.)

FWIW, southwest would need to be under 10k pts/seat average (we would book 2 with seat choice and 2 without) in order for it to make sense for us to drive the 2.5hrs and pay for parking during the trip. If that's hardcore wishful thinking at this point with SW, someone please let me know.

I just “Sawe” that the 2-hour barrier was broken by 30 seconds today at The London Marathon. Sabastian Sawe ran 1:59:30. Absolute insanity.

An amazing feat. Always felt like it was only a matter of time (pun not intended) the last few years. Just needed one of the right races to get the right conditions.

ETA: What also seemed likely, and ended up occurring, the second place runner ran the second fastest time in history and became the second person to break 2 hours. Yomif Kejelcha finished just 11 seconds behind, at 1:59:41, in his first marathon.

He is 28 yrs old so we might well see him breaking more records!

I hadn’t heard that about the 2nd place runner. That’s amazing. Anyone know what the conditions were like? Must’ve been perfect.

I myself have stopped relying on Southwest. Their prices are much higher now, and I have no reason to book with them.
