In other news: we are so back.

I’m going to bring a laptop and check in with my colleagues Thursday and Friday, but I won’t be tethered to a desk both days. Thanks to those of you who encouraged me to talk to my boss.

The plan now is to fly in Wednesday night and throw myself on the mercy of runner services for the 5K. It sounds like there’s a decent chance of that working out?

I may do a duck theme for all my costumes since it's so focused on Donald this year. I can reuse my mighty ducks costume from the half last year, maybe for the 5k or 10k. But still not sure.

I was originally going to be Donald or daisy but I have a feeling g there will be a lot of ducks out there, making it hard for DH to spot me. He had a hard enough time with all the Minnie’s this past year. Sigh.

You’ll be fine. They don’t advertise it because they don’t want people taking advantage of it, but they’ve never not had emergency pickup the morning of the race. Get there early because there could be a line.

I was thinking a Star Wars themed look would be fitting, but was underwhelmed by the compression shirt options (Vader and Stormtroopers). We’ve got several months to plan something and I’m pretty open to ideas!

More importantly, what kind of antics are we going to pull? I was trying to remember what we were considering before we landed on the mad dash to HS.

I can't remember either. It'll be tough to top that one. Good thing we've got many months and a few days of drinking at Disney to figure it out.

SS fomo going away as I adjusted my rack rate dates for MW 2027. Back to Chronos club at Coronado for us! Found it made a massive difference in having our large group be able to meet in the lounge before heading out for a race / park. Plus, they always put out pre and post race snacks in the club for runners, always nice to grab a Powerade and coffee before the race!

I think it's more that Disney has lost their ever-lovin' minds with what they charge for hotels. I stay deluxe but mostly because I rent DVC points or go Swolphin. Rack rates are outrageous.

This is absolutely one of the reasons we bought DVC a couple of years ago. We looked at our habits (going for race weekends yearly, plus having DD who is absolutely obsessed with going to WDW currently) and figured that we could buy a 100pt contract resale for SSR for about what 5 years of MW trips would cost. But then I also talked DH into a 50pt contract and now we can stay in a 1br most of the time. Was it the smartest thing to be spending money on? No. Do I regret it? Also no. Does it satisfy my need to be able to control/modify my vacations? 100% yes!

I did the exact same calculations - on a 100 point contract 5 years of MW (not counting anything else) and I break even. Thats even with me spending most of those at Swolphin. If I compare to rack rates at BW/BC/ YC it’s closer to 3 years. But then I’d never pay rack rates at those resorts.
