Marathon Weekend 2027

I don't think closing the browser actually ends the session, though. If you close the browser and open it back up to the rD site while things are still active, it goes right back to where you were. I don't think it actually closes you out unless/until your queue is live and you don't use it.
This is the kind of content I came to this Disney site for 20 years ago... :) but seriously this community is great.

Agreed- otherwise queue sharing wouldn't work - as soon as the original browser was closed you wouldn't be able to open it.

Also - FWIW when it comes to this - I apparently had a zombie browser tab still open on my iPad yesterday morning stuck at the captcha screen (how it got back to that I don't know) - after I entered the code it tried to put me back in the queue - before finally dumping me out to a sold out screen.

Two POT questions:

I have a 1:58 HM (June 2024) and a 4:35 Full (October 2024).

Are both valid and will the HM get me a better corral placement for Dopey?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I left a window open in the background because I was working: anyone who left a window open stayed in the queue, and then their window was open for 10 minutes until they timed out, so the system had to wait for people to close their windows or time out, and the timeout was probably slower than people who got in and registered.

ETA: it was frustrating and I am sorry that you didn't get what you had hoped for, I want to validate that for you.

I think someone here has also mentioned that the queue has trouble adjusting for when people leave before they get to the front (i.e. they closed out all of their browsers or left when they found out stuff sold out). Fundamentally this is a ridiculous process where there could very well be 4x or 5x (or more!) the number of spots in the queue as there are people monitoring them.

I accidentally left my cell phone queues open though, so that didn't help.

@SheHulk - Yeah, that was a widely reported phenomenon on reddit. Probably for the reasons as reported by @Psymonds and @fatmanatee.

Even beyond that, the rundisney programmers were pushing through updates to the source code even 10 minutes before the start of registration, and it seems like Safari may have been having more issues with the adjustments than other browser types.

There really should be a way to say "I'm done" or "I'm leaving" and actively close out a queue to clear it for others. They obviously know we're all using multiple sessions.

I’m guilty of leaving one browser open. I thought I closed them all but missed one. I was close to the end though, before I got to register and the browser left open was still over an hour when everything sold out so hopefully it didn’t negatively impact anyone.

Oh wow so it's just the residual of all those open queues even if you quit out! I really was in last place behind everybody's abandoned queues even 🤪😂😭 Rough stuff

So does it only time out after 10 mins if you don’t register at all? I always thought you only had 10 minutes once you got through the queue. Did I make that up? Can you keep registering people beyond 10 mins? I did get lucky and was able to get registered. I wanted the full + 10k but the full was the priority. I completed the marathon registration first and paid, then went back. I was trying to type so fast thinking the 10 minutes would run out. Is that not a thing?

I did get a prompt on one of my browsers that came up after everything was sold out asking if I still wanted to continue through to registration. Like an "are you still there?" button. I don't know if it came up right when the queue went live or a certain amount of time after when it was inactive. I'm also not sure about the 10 minute timeout as I feel like I took more than that, but I was active pretty much the whole time. Maybe it's 10 minutes if it detects that you're just sitting on it? Or maybe I was just faster than I thought. I did not actually time it.

I'm not typically registering multiple people, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I didn't think there was a time limit as long as you were moving things.

I seem to recall being in for more than 10 minutes whenever the last race was that they didn't show when races sell out in the queue. I just toggled between selecting different races to keep it active. This very well could have changed though.

the 10 minutes for me,:

  • I had left a window open
  • I came back later (like an hour later)
  • it had a pop up saying "it's your turn!"
  • I clicked on the button
  • got an pop up saying "your 10 minute window is up, you need to re-enter the queue"

that's the only place I know of of a 10 minute limit.

As a Floridian of 25 years who HATES the heat and the humidity (sigh), I would run a 5k in the summer if it were held late at night. It never actually gets "cool," and the humidity never goes away, but not having the sun bearing down on you does make a huge difference, and a 5k is short.

The problem is the daytime. I live nearby and could drive up in the afternoon, check in to my resort, have a nice dinner, maybe take a nap, run the 5k, go back to the resort and take a shower and go to bed, sleep in until right before checkout, have a nice breakfast and maybe visit the gift shop, and then drive home, but I am NOT going to the parks in summer, AP or no AP. I don't know how many people would be willing to come to Orlando just to run a 5k unless they're park people who don't mind the ferocity of Florida summers.

Regarding a potential lottery, it seems to be more or less a lottery already. There's strategy involved (as there would be if there were a lottery), but it seems to be mostly left up to chance.

I did 3 people on mine (including myself) and after the 3rd person, when I hit the back button, I got the queue expired need to rejoin message. I'm not sure how long I was in it total (at least 10 minutes) but I definitely didn't leave the page inactive or anything.

I got my confirmations at :10, :17, and :21
