Marathon Weekend 2027

Going back over the previously posted lists:

@DianaMB333 As @marty3d said, National Treasure is Disney IP as the original film was released by Walt Disney Pictures.

@WillRunForPizza, mind adjusting your lists? Hamilton would count in the acquired category, not Disney IP, and The Princess Bride IP was never acquired by Disney (only the streaming rights.)

I think that would have to go under Disney Live action since it was produced/ released by Walt Disney Pictures. But then I'm not sure of anything anymore with this week's SAFD 😂
I will freely admit, most people probably wouldn't be as pedantic about Hamilton, but as a Broadway nerd I'm the judge you got. 😂

lol! Two reasons I didn’t argue with you - one - your broadway nerd creds - and two - I actually agree but I was looking for a loophole because I just couldn’t put it in my top 3 for acquired IP 😂

The best part of this is I like basically all of these movies. Fun to see other opinions and excited to see what the brackets end up looking like.

One caveat, I was confused and a little distraught over the number of times Cars variants showed up on lists last week.:sad2::duck::rotfl2:
I actually don’t remember if I put Cars on my list last week, but I at least thought about it. Part of it is probably because I grew up on Route 66, so it is a bit nostalgic.

Kicking myself for not voting for Remember the Titans or Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but too lazy to do anything about it.

I stand by D2, though.

SAFD:

Disney Live Action:
1. Pirates
2. Newsies
3. Remember the Titans

Acquired:
1. X-Men
2. Iron Man
3. Return of the Jedi (sorry, I was a kid who mainly rewatched this one over and over again)

That was hard.

I love the inclusion of X-Men, but the OG over X2 or First Class? Remind me to pick your brain on this MW.

It’s actually been a while since I’ve watched them, so it’s possible that something besides the original would get my vote now. But for a long time (at least before the X2 came out), I had no desire to watch X-Men, but then I decided to watch it on TV or DVD, and absolutely loved it. So it is the one that got my attention in the first place - and sticks out to me.

ETA: I was thinking it was the Last Stand, but it was actually X2 that when we were watching it in the theater, they stopped the movie right at the climax of the movie for a tornado warning, and we didn’t get to finish the movie - so maybe that clouds my memories of that one. Lol

SAFD: BRUTAL.

Disney Live Action:
1. TRON Legacy
2. POTC 2: Dead Man’s Chest *
3. Mary Poppins (OG)

Acquired Live Action:
1. Star Wars Episode IIII :duck:**
2. Avengers: Endgame
3. Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade ***

* I know - Black Pearl was the origin, but DMC was just the better overall!
** DON’T COME AT ME!! This was really hard because Vader’s story arc is what makes the franchise for me, and his full circle in VI is my favorite part of the whole thing. But as a full and complete movie, including stunts, story, actors, CGI, sets, and score? I have to give it to III.
*** I made a decision to not include the Alien franchise because while technically within the rules, it just doesn’t feel Disney to me. But if we could include a 4th, the OG Alien would be in there.

** I won't judge you - III is the best of the prequels and I really think Ewen MacGregor made a great Obi-Wan Kenobi

*** This I will judge - for 2 reasons - Last Crusade over Raiders? Raiders set the bar for action/ adventure movies for the next 2 decades. It's almost a perfect movie. I have a some very sentimental attachments to Last Crusade and do love the movie, but it's a step below Raiders and is missing Karen Allen - Marion and Indy are the heart of that film. Second - Alien is totally Disney - it was part of the Great Movie Ride for almost 30 years!! :)

SAFD

Live action:
- Mulan
- Jungle Cruise (just because I’m fan of Emily Blunt)
- Pirates of the Caribbean

Acquired:
- Indiana Jones - last crusade
- Avengers - endgame
- National treasure (does it count?)
Ok… based on rules clarification:

Live action:
- Mulan
- Jungle Cruise
- National treasure

Acquired:
- Indiana Jones last crusade
- Avengers end game
- Guardians of the galaxy

1. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
2. Davy Crockett and the River Pirates
3. Splash

I don’t consider acquired IP to be Disney, so I’ll sit this one out.
On the other end of the spectrum, if I was going to name the worst films, “Splash 2” would take the lead position.
