Marathon Weekend 2026

Would be nice if the AH this helps push crowds to MK on Monday, we are hoping to go either Friday or Saturday depending on ADRs (I know it won't but I can dream :)). I'm a huge HEA fan, but the kiddo doesn't like fireworks so much so I just get to watch it on the hotel TV.

Does anyone know where I’d be able to get a custom training plan for Dopey similar to what DopeyBadger does? I’ve gotten my training plans from him previously, but I know he’s been very busy recently.
I’ve looked at standard plans, but they all go up to 20miles, which I know I won’t do during training.

Definitely reach out via DM or email. If you have a previous plan you like, maybe ask if it can be modified for what you're doing now? I have to assume that's faster/easier than creating a new plan, but idk.

Good afternoon RunDisney All-Stars! Welcome to this week's edition of Sundays are for Disney (SAFD). RunDisney announced this week that Disneyland races are going on indefinite hiatus once again. Is that going to affect your running plans in the near future? Does it affect any Coast to Coast plans?

SAFD: I ran DL half weekend back in 2016 and 2017, so I've been there, done that, and have the C2C medals to show for it. They were my first ever trips to DL and while some of the park differences were eye opening, the DL races never really got a hold over me. I will say, the DL 10k was hands-down the best of all the RunDisney races on either coast from a park time value perspective, though. I was thinking about making a trip to one of their Halloween weekends because I like the theme a lot, but I guess not. In the end, I'll be sticking to Marathon Weekend for the foreseeable future.

SAFD. I used to have some family out in California so when I was very young we went to Disney Land a few times, but they moved away, so we pick World over Land these days. If they had kept the Star Wars light side/dark side runs between Disneyland and World I think I would of tried to figure it out to do both, but unfortunately missed my shot there, so I kinda doubt I'll make it out to land again unless they do something significantly different than world does. I do really like the Disneyland themes for this year though.

ITBS update. I had a half this weekend. My plan was to run until it started hurting and walk the rest of the way in. Pain hit at mile 8, sadly. Frustrating because I ran 9 miles the weekend before with zero issues. Sigh. I did PR 5k and 10k though, which I was proud of but not aiming for. I’m taking this week off from running completely, doing strength training, yoga, easy walks, cold plunges. And I have 2 PT sessions with dry needling. Fingers crossed the week off will make a difference.

SAFD: I'm a little sad that there won't be more DL races, because I only got to do the inaugural return weekend, and they really didn't have their act together then.

On the other hand, I don't really want to visit DL again until they get all the new stuff built and opened, so I guess it's ok that there's no races for the foreseeable future.

SAFD: We skipped MW 2024 and did the DL half in January instead. I then did Princess to get my only C2C. That was our only trip to Disneyland. I enjoyed seeing the park, and we would have gone to California Adventure if we’d had another day, but we opted for two days in DL instead. I would be all for going back for the parks, but the half was not near as good as Disney World races. As @Naomeri said, they just didn’t have their act together. Also, they don’t have a good area for running once you leave the parks. If I were renovating a house out there, I’d know where to go for cabinets, countertops, and supplies, I suppose, because we certainly toured the Anaheim industrial area! We’re in Georgia, so going to Disney World just makes a lot more sense for us. We’re going down for MW and PW again for 2026.

SAFD: Never did Coast to Coast.

I’m trying to make my running (and runDisney) habit less disruptive/expensive to my family, so I guess I’m a bit relieved that DL races arent really an option anymore? I’m sad for those who loved these races, though.

SAFD: No impact to running plans. Did C2C in 2024 so don’t feel the need to do it again. I would have really liked to do the 10k- that’s my one regret from DL 24 when I only was able to get in to the half. I’m hoping the races will be back. Lived in LA when I was a kid and DL was our “local” park and set me up for a lifelong love of Disney parks so I would love to run through it again. (Just not the half!)
