SAFD: I like whiskey.
Wait? 6-7 isn’t the luckiest number you can see and bring positive vibes? My kids and wife’s students are misleading usSAFD: my username is very original, my name, the initials of my last names and what I consider the luckiest number you can randomly see and bring positive vibes.
And the avatar is very proudly when I got to MK on Oct 1st 2021 (the 50th anniversary) at 4 or 5am.
(I thought they were going to be nuts doing all type of stuff to commemorate The day… I was wrong LOL.. but as always is the community that makes everything better; there were so many families together cheering, wearing shirts with printed photos of old trips, even some from the first year, 50yrs of memories, all type of stuff, it was very cool to watch).

I believe it will be the 15th anniversary. Is MW 2028 a dopey anniversary?
I usually will have a disposable poncho, and maybe a large trash bag to use for my legs. Maybe something else (trash bags or heat sheet) that is waterproof to sit on. Then, when I sit down I will tuck the waterproof barriers around me so that my shoes stay dry too. Some might put plastic bags over theirs shoes to keep them dry while waiting.Hi! Trying to over prepare for the weather. If it is raining, do you bring an umbrella for the corrals? Anything else? I've raced in very cold but never rain. Thanks!

Definitely a rain poncho at a minimum. Umbrellas can be tricky because the corrals get very tight and crowded. Everyone seems to take the "fill in all available space" extremely seriously the instant A corral starts to move, even when you're back in D or E and won't be going anywhere for another 40 minutes.Hi! Do NOT bring an umbrella. I had a mini umbrella as part of a costume last year, and it was fine out on the course where we had room to spread out, but anywhere else (ESPECIALLY the corrals) it was just too crowded to put it up without risking injuring someone. For potential rain, bring something to sit on (mylar, an extra poncho, even a plastic bag) and cover yourself with a throw-away poncho (or a garbage bag will work in a pinch). @camaker had a mylar poncho last year that was pretty brilliant for the cold, too!Trying to over prepare for the weather. I had never heard this before. I like. My wife keeps talking about trying to do a Dopey. Maybe if she ever does it, this would be something we could do.There are also people who will run the 5k fast enough to finish and run it again with the last corral. It’s a fun challenge to kick off the weekend.
I bought a 4 pack of these on Amazon for pretty cheap in case I needed them for NYC. They are now in my MW packing box. I saw people with these last year (especially during the downpour before the half) and don't know why I'd never thought of it before. What's nice is they come folded incredibly small so easily fit in your gear bag if you're checking or a pocket.@camaker had a mylar poncho last year that was pretty brilliant for the cold, too!
There were people in our corral last year that were covered with so many ponchos and mylar, sitting on the ground, that I couldn't even tell there was a person underneath there. Smart! I think last year I had on two mylar blankets, one like a cape and one wrapped around my waist and legs, and had a rain poncho on top.Do NOT bring an umbrella.
