Marathon Weekend 2025

Disneyparks just posted merch preview on Instagram.

whoa that's early

It's bothering me that she's wearing the ears backwards (even though it's for the pic.)

The windbreaker with the pennants might be cute depending on if they put some weirdness on the front.

I'm going to start watching the weather forecast now. We have all the things so early! Maps! Event Guide! Merch! May as well look at the weather! :rotfl2:

SAFD: This seems like a good opportunity to drop a…

NOTHING NEW ON RACE DAY!!! :rotfl:

No, but really: I have nothing new planned. I’m old. I’m a 30+ year WDW AP vet. I know what I like at WDW and nothing that would be new to me holds any interest. I’m good. Get off my lawn. ;)
I used to live by this but at the expo before the Amsterdam marathon they were giving out free samples of these cola bottle energy gels. They were amazing. I bought 5 packs and used them during the marathon. My only regret is not buying more, they were amazing.

SAFD:
1. So my first try at Dopey! I just got done with my last simulation weekend and went all the way too 24 miles! I was slow... but I did it so yeah! (Over 16 mins miles, so slower than balloon ladies)
2. Staying for the first time at the Cabins at Copper Creek. Soo excited for our own hot tubs!!!
3. Then we hired a former cm to train our son to be a jedi for my sons birthdays. So that should be fun.

To everyone talking about how there is to much training involved in Dopey and marathon training I soo agree... I have had to say no to way to many things... and my son is now starting to say...ohh u can't do it cause u have to go run... which breaks my heart. When u are slow it just takes so long to get in the miles. Soo I will just be focusing on half's after this..when I turn 48... I might think about Dopey again... and doing one of the majors. But that is it. I just don't like how much training sucks up your life. Half's and 10 milers are much better.

Merch looks okay...like all those brown shirts looks horrible. But like the ears and the baseball shirt.

OMG runDisney literally stole my 10K costume idea!! I am in the process of making the EXACT SAME baseball jersey and EXACT SAME hat - except ours will have the number 28 on the back and "Mickey" on one jersey and "Minnie" on the other. We were going to wear matching baseball pants to complete the outfit but now, I am thinking about scrapping the whole idea since it is not as original. :(

Ugh!!

Man what a rough year. I’m registered for Dopey but I’m on day 6 of having covid right now. Thankfully I’m very mild but trying to decide if it’s a good idea to run that much in only a few weeks. Everything is paid for so assuming I clear it (it’s my first infection) I’ll be there for at least the easier races and some parks time but I may be walking the marathon I guess
Sorry to hear! Obviously not medical advice, but my anecdotal experience of having Covid in early December 2022 (caught over Thanksgiving) is that I had a mild case (really just felt like a typical cold) and I basically didn't do any long runs in all of December. I did runs in the 3-5 mile range which I felt okay doing, albeit slower than usual. I just focused on letting my body heal and I was feeling back to normal by January. I really only had symptoms for about 2-3 weeks aside from a bit of a lingering cough. Dopey ended up going fine. I had to walk a lot in the 2nd half but more from under training than anything, I had enough buffer time-wise it was never a concern.

Looking back at my training, my last long runs that year were Nov 6th 17 miles and Nov 20th 18 miles. I ran 8 miles on Dec 7th (verrrry slowly) and then tested positive that night  I never ran more than 5 miles after that before Dopey 2023. I will say, I ran a marathon in October 2022 so it wasn't try first rodeo, but hope this provides a bit of comfort that it doesn't have to be over if you feel healthy by January. Obviously listen to your body, I didn't experience any heart/lung effects, if I had I definitely would have approached it different and/or pulled myself if I needed to.

Mine has honestly been less than a typical cold, I was tired for a day or two, had a slight cough and runny nose but that's really been about it. I'm just violently positive on my rapid tests so I know I've got a lot of virus. I'm glad I didn't go see my parents this last weekend at least.

Thanks for the positive perspective, I appreciate it. I'll see how things feel at the 5k and 10ks and adjust from there.

That was me too. I think my second line on my test appeared before the control line :rotfl2: Fast healing!!

Those sound very intriguing. Any chance you remember the name?

I was going to say that jersey and cap seemed familiar -- then I remembered putting your info into the spreadsheet. I say wear them anyway as yours sounds way better!

I do because I have one pack left! They're PurePower Chews with Cola Flavour.

https://purepowersport.nl/chews/chews-cola-40gr.html

I've been on PurePowers website a few times but I can't figure out delivery to my country as they're in Netherlands (as I said, I got them at the Amsterdam Marathon). I keep meaning to email them and offer them money to post them to me because they're so good.

If you're at the marathon meet up I'll give you a few for the road.

Good luck with that! I’ve tried three times now and have pretty much come to the conclusion the ride just isn’t for me. The first time we rode in the morning and I was toast the rest of the day. Nothing made me feel better other than a total sleep reset. lol. The other two times I either kept my eyes closed completely or stayed focused on the ride vehicle - not particularly fun but at least I was back to normal after an hour or two. I so wish I could find a way to enjoy it since everyone else loves it! Ha!
Oh no!! I'm so sorry.
