Marathon Weekend 2024

POT window for MW 2024:
  • "Proof of time must be provided from an officially timed race on a USATF certified course reflecting results between January 1, 2021 and September 26, 2023, and must be one of the below listed distances.
  • Full Marathon Proof of Time:Results for a 10-Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon

Half Marathon Proof of Time: Results for a 10K, 10-Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon"

Is it even possible to have a 10k that runs from MK to Epcot or vice versa? With park time for either? I'm not sure I would read that much into it, they might just be including park icons as part of the design.
Sure, the 5 mile marker of Princess Half is on Main Street, so they’d only have to find another 1.2 miles.

This is what I was hoping for, as it allows me to get one more use out of my PR marathon from May, 2021.

I’m a bit behind but the first thing I noticed was the park icons in the 10K and half. I’m sure it’s overly hopeful and I’m probably running the marathon but I would love if they did change the courses up just for something new.

The hitch is it has to finish in a parking lot - I’m not sure they could route back to TTC in only 1.2?
I'm going to change my pessimistic first impression.

None of us expected the Disneyland races to come back. Maybe there is hope that these images mean the races are changing a bit for the next sequence.
It’s the consistency from race to race art that’s getting me. Various parks randomly placed in the art wouldn’t jump out as much as this consistent theme across the half and full.

I'd love it if they managed to fit more park time in the 10k. The course for 2021 Wine and Dine started at the TTC, went through HS, and ended at Epcot, so if they go back to having different starting and ending locations, that could work.
They could also do something similar for the half if they start at the TTC.

AND the start and end flags in the designs ... those give me hope.

Nine months of anticipation that will most likely be dashed :). I feel like we're waiting for another star wars movie with all the hopes being so high.

I don't buy that. Castaway started in 2015 and Disneyland held a race weekend that same weekend then as well (Light Side). runDisney was able to do both from 2015-2017 before they canceled races.
I reached out to RunDisney and received a prompt response. They said the Castaway Cay Challenge will not be happening in 2024. Disappointing.

I had planned to do it in 2022 (following Dopey) and then they didn't hold it. I was glad it returned last year, making me excited to do it this year. And now it is not being held.

THIS.
I wonder if some of that road construction is about to [finally] finish up and they are planning on using some of the "old" courses.

Or we are just trying to get excited about running something other than epcot to mk and back, and "just around epcot" for most of the races, every race weekend iykwim.

The area around MK is the only thing thats really had road work still happening. Not sure what "old courses" they would use.

This is sad for me too. I wasn't going to do it this year because I'm signed up for C2C with MW and DL but was supposed to do CCC last summer and couldn't because I got COVID. I wonder if they'll ever bring it back.
