Barbecue is definitely a hot button cuisine and the quality and preference is always eye of the beholder. People will go to a Texas Monthly Top 50 and say it’s nothing special or even bad.I see SO MANY people who love PP, and I absolutely will say that when DH and I went there (shortly after they re-opened from the c-word closure) I wasn't impressed and was borderline disappointed. I might have to re-try it in January, but I'm on the fence.
I’m certainly no expert (and definitely not a BBQ snob) but I’ve always found things relatively impressive for the quantity and speed they have to serve at Polite Pig. That said, I can definitely picture how things could go wrong with mass produced barbecue. Maybe I’ve been lucky (I usually go there for early-ish lunch so maybe I’m getting the first prep of the day) but I’ve always found the quality pretty decent.
