Marathon Weekend 2017!

I didn't think of this as a potential problem until right now... We are staying at CBR and have ADRs for breakfast at the Poly at 8:30am the morning of the half marathon. Will there be massive issues for us getting there?

Your best bet is taking the early MK bus and that will drop you off at the TTC. Then it's a short walk to the poly.

Even though I ran in the 2015 W&D Half (which was shortened by almost half), I've never really felt like I earned that medal. In my training for the upcoming WDW Half in a couple weeks, I did my last long "run" today and it is also the farthest I have ever made it at 13.29 miles. I feel like I have finally earned my W&D medal. I say "run" because it took 2:57:06 (13:20). While I understand this is not a great accomplishment in this group, I felt I had to share. I don't have many friends that understand the feat that this is. But this was monumental for me.

I really enjoy reading everyone else's comments, accomplishments, and just wanted to brag a bit. I figured if anyone would understand, it would be this group. I hope to see many of you on the route. Just look for the tall guy in an orange hi-viz shirt and please say "hi".

Side note: I may have bit off more than I can chew. 8 days after running the WDW Half, I will be running the Star Wars Lightside Half in Anahiem to clinch the 2017 Coast to Coast challenge.

Please Lord, don't let me die!

Congratulations! That's an awesome accomplishment and I think we can all recognize that great feeling it gives you inside. Keep up the great work!

And I officially am into my taper. Just logged an 18 miler on the National Mall. Was at first slightly concerned about pace (14:36 overall and was starting to hit the wall at the end) and then I looked at my past 18 miles going into Disney and realized this is my norm. I have yet to break 14 min/mile in my last big run before Disney. So there goes that concern.

Now if I can just avoid hitting the wall in ESPN on race day that would be great.

I got my last long run in for the half this morning. 12 good miles in about the most perfect weather you could ask for at the end of December in Minnesota! No hat, sleeves rolled up, ditched the gloves 2 miles in... it was awesome. Downside is the paths had a slight glaze of ice on them in the beginning so I had to slow it down and watch my footing, but that actually turned out to be a good thing. For once I went out slow and easy instead of pushing too hard and paying for it later. I was physically prepared for WDW, but now I think I got there mentally today with this run. Bring on Disney and bring on the half!!!

I did 6 on a treadmill and 5 on the slick sidewalks. I felt I was pushing my luck -- glad we both remained upright ;)

Good morning and happy whatever you celebrate, runDisney All-Stars!

Two weeks until the marathon and 10 days until the kickoff of race weekend! We're almost there, guys and gals!

No Sundays are for Disney question this week, just a sincere thank you to the members of this board for sharing information, offering words of encouragement or just being along for the ride for everyone. This is a great community and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.

Sorry this is late Dopeybadger. I wasn't going to post at all b/c I'm so slow but a friend on this thread reminded me how blessed I am to move at ANY pace-so here it is.

Tomorrow is my last long run as the taper starts to mellow out. Hope everyone one celebrating had a wonderful Christmas! Got to surprise my girls with the trip to Disney this morning. It was a bigger hit than I thought it would be; complete with stunned silence and then "really we are going with you!?!?" and then screaming. It was great! Now I better run well since they will be there to cheer me on! Happy Holidays!

I would like to propose that everyone put a piece of green ribbon thru one of the holes in their bib to recognize fellow DIS members. I would love to talk to, meet and help encourage other members on the course!!

I love this! I have an extremely confusing personality. I'm shy but also very outspoken? Is that possible? Helps me to know people I may know! I am doing Dopey but only a couple races with other people!

I like this idea. I'll include this idea in the DIS sheet I'm putting together.

No worries. I'm happy to have you join us. Looks like you've got some friends with similar paces in N at ~13:00 min/mile with @lauriko and @Curiouser&curiouser!

If there are any other members looking to put their name on the list let me know. The list will help you find other members with similar paces, corral buddies, and help you provide a timing sheet to your spectating friends that may be trying to find you on course.

What is your choice getting the BIB fixed Safety Pins or Numberbelt?!

Yay, packing right now, because we are leaving on Wednesday for Orlando :-D So excited! Tomorrow will be my last Tapering Run here in Germany! BTW. are there any other runners from germany here doing the Marathon?!

So, how long does it typically take to get in and out of the expo? I'm trying to plan the rest of my Saturday at AK and that's the one thing I can't account for. If I go right at 10, have my waiver printed and signed and just plan to check out the official runDisney merch, is that roughly an hour? Basically, I'm wondering if I can make a 11:20-12:20 Kilimanjaro Safari FP+.

Between running a marathon, bringing a toddler and trying to craft custom touring plans to accommodate both, I'm beginning to think I'm a sadist.

RaceDots are my choice foe securing a bib. I like to run races in my nicest shirts and don't like putting holes in them with pins. I have used a Race Belt from Amphipod, too, and while it worked fine it rode a little lower than I liked and I felt like I was constantly pulling it up.

Woo! More corral N friends! This is my first 1/2 Marathon. I only started running a few years ago and until this year my longest run was a measly 4 miles! I ran my first official road race for POT for this! I feel like I cannot remotely keep up with the crowd on here since I am SLOW as molasses. But everyone here has been super supportive. I keep having to remind myself that I will be out there actually doing it, no matter the pace and you will too!!

Thanks for all the work you have done @DopeyBadger! It is so helpful!
