Marathon Weekend 2017!

I was wondering: do people wear their medals much after the race? Our plan after the marathon is to head back to the hotel, shower, nap and then off to Disney Springs (more specifically, Raglan Road) to celebrate. I'm assuming we'll be pretty proud of our accomplishment and want to wear the medals that evening. Is that ok or considered cocky?

Yes everyone wears their medals after the races! Wear them proudly! CMs and even strangers will congratulate you.

Yes that's ok. You worked your butt off to get that medal you should be proud of it. It's not cocky to show off a huge accomplishment.

Happy Sunday, runDisney All-Stars! There are less than 16 weeks until the marathon. CAN. YOU. DIG IT?

Now, on to today's Sundays are for Disney question:

What is on your Disney bucket list? Name as many as you want and make them as realistic or far-fetched as your heart desires.

Here are a few of mine, aside from trying various restaurants and a few rides:

- Complete the Walt Disney World Marathon
- Visit around Christmastime
- Attend Mickey's No So Scary Halloween Party
- Get selected to be the welcoming family for rope drop at Magic Kingdom
- Do a behind the scenes tour at MK or AK
- See IllumiNations
- Get a really, really, really good photo of Wishes! (I've taken some decent ones, but nothing I would frame. This is my white whale.)

Easy, although this is more far-fetched than a true bucket list item:

Stay the night in the Cinderella Castle Suite.

Wear them the next day too! Just be prepared to stash them away in a pocket or bag (when not posing for pics) and only wear one while walking around, as they can get a bit unwieldy...

As long as we are being "as far-fetched as (our) heart desires":

-I'd like to voice a character in a Disney animated film that eventually makes it into the parks as part of an attraction

On the slightly more realistic (but not really):

-I think it would be cool to stay at each resort

Disney bucket list:

  • Visit every Disney theme park in the world
  • Visit Aulani
  • Take a ABD backstage magic trip
  • Stay at the Poly, GF, or Contemporary
  • Run a Disneyland race
  • Run the Disneyland Paris half of it lasts
  • Do coast to coast

Adding "Stay at Poly" to my list. That would be awesome.

I'll do two at once. Best memory . . . my son proposing in front of the castle just before Wishes and getting free personalized "Just Engaged" Mickey ears from a CM. Bucket list . . . 1) Stay at the every WDW Resort and 2) ride Tower of Terror more than my record of 20 times in one day!

My realistic ones are DCL-related: complete a grand slam (sail on every ship once) and cruise to Alaska. After this year I'll just need the Wonder (until the new ships start sailing) so I need to book an Alaska cruise to knock both items off of my list!

Less realistic: visit every Disney park in the world. I just have WDW and DL so far and I'm really not sure I'll go beyond those, but a girl can dream! :wizard:

My Disney bucket list really is a bucket list item - I want to move near enough to go as often as I like when I retire. We are fortunate to be able to afford multiple vacations to WDW every year, but we live over 1,000 miles away so it gets expensive, and I only have so much vacation time.

Definitely wear them! But if you feel cocky/self-conscious about them ... I bought a Dopey medal pin, and I wore it pinned at my cocktail dress each night on the cruise I went on directly after finishing Dopey.

I saw a lot of people coming in for Coast-to-Coast doing the same thing at Disneyland too!

That's a great idea. I wonder if they sell Dopey tie pins.
