Marathon Weekend 2017!

Did you have to call to make your reservations? I can only go up to January 2nd online for reservations. We start our trip on the 3rd.
The system is bugging. I could only make 180 days out. It is not recognizing my hotel reservation & won't let me book +10. I had to call.
ETA the 180 mark today is for Jan 1 start date.

Ok, so I am woefully ignorant on the ADR process. We don't really frequent the high-demand character dining restaurants very often so we normally don't make reservations very far in advance; however, with a few kids in our group making their first trips to WDW it may be relevant. From piecing things together over the years: Is the 180 days from the day of your initial stay and are you then able to book for the entire duration of your trip? (this is mainly for future reference, we are staying off-site this year) Since we are staying off-site, we will essentially be waiting for 180 days before each individual day, correct? (assuming we feel the need to attempt to book something this year)

Sorry, for the questions. Like I said, I am incredibly ignorant of WDW trip planning for someone who has been making a yearly trip there the last five years.
If you are staying onsite and already have your hotel booked you can book ADRs from the day you arrive plus 10 days after. If you are off site like you say you are you can only book one ADR per day like you said. You should be okay getting everything except for maybe a very select few restaurants that could be tough.

No you can book online. Since you start the 3rd you can't book ADRs yet until you are 180 days before the trip.

Thanks. I'm slowly, at a pace slightly slower than a snail, getting some of this advanced planning stuff figure out.

My ADR day starts tomorrow and there's really only one I'm totally worried about - CRT.

Also, and this is SUCH #FirstWorldDisneyProblems, but I'm ALSO having to stress daily about ADRs for Disneyland in September. Tomorrow is going to be a busy, busy day for restaurant pickin'!

Anything in particular at DL? Most things are bookable at the last minute there.

Oh hold up. There's a Napa to Sonoma half marathon? How did I not know this?

Yeah - normally, I wouldn't bother, but we're really picky about dining times for a couple of places, so I'm having to jump on reservations right as they open to get the times we want. All that's left is Steakhouse 55 for post-half brunch and the Carthay Circle for dinner potentially around fireworks time (if they even happen!).

AND YES! N2S is on our wish list for next year!! It looks AMAZING.

I really hope that fireworks rumor is bogus. SH55 is the awesomes for breakfast foods. And CC is usually pretty solid food-wise. Fried Jalapeno Biscuits, FTW!

I'll definitely check out that Napa to Sonoma race. Thanks!

Topic? ADRS in less than 2 days!!!

Yeah - I've done brunch at SH55 ... three times? now and it's my FAVORITE. I usually don't like to eat quickly after a half, but I can't shove an omelette and a mimosa in my face fast enough there. I. Love. Brunch.

I actually just booked "brunch" at Ariel's Grotto for Saturday because that breakfast sandwich sounds delicious right about now.

As for Marathon Weekend, this is what I'm going to be gunning for first-thing tomorrow (in order of importance):
CRT (Dinner)
California Grill (Dinner)
Brown Derby (Dinner)
Il Mulino (Dinner)
Teppan Edo (Lunch)
Captain's Grill (Brunch)
Tokyo Dining (Lunch)
Yak & Yeti (Lunch)

Bulking up on the signatures I see.

#YOLO

I would really love to mix in brunch at Boma and dinner at Citrico's or Sanaa in there as well, but I may have to do those on my own outside of Marathon Weekend.

Good luck on CRT! I've only done breakfast there, but I actually liked the food. Captain's Grille has some nice eats. That's a sleeper. Have you eaten at Il Mulino before? I tried it once and honestly wasn't too impressed. But maybe I'm just not a fan of fancy Italian food.

This will be a first for me at Il Mulino (which is a big deal since I've been pretty much everywhere at least once) - but it works out best for our large party that won't all be going in to the parks that day, but they can still join us for dinner. The family style menu looked appealing.

Oh that will work out great. You can pick and choose and not get locked into one entrée. :)

Oh man I had completely forgotten that my ADR date is coming up! I don't arrive until the 5th so I have a few more days. Not sure what I want to book for sure. I'm thinking Via Napoli the night before and LeCellier for post-race dinner. Can't decide if I want to do any others.

ETA the 180 mark today is for Jan 1 start date.

The system is awful today. We arrive January 1, and the system recognized our Resort #1 reservation (Jan 1-4.) So we could plug in dates/times for January 2 BOG and see availability, but then could not complete the booking. I had to call. The other odd thing is that, because we're moving over to Resort #2 for Jan 4-9, the phone CM said that we don't get the +10. Instead, we can only book through the date we check in at Resort #2.

Love, love, love Il Mulino!

So, crazy thing I've been noticing for both WDW and Disneyland this week - if an overall search shows that there is no availability for a restaurant, if you go to that specific restaurant page ... voila! There are time slots! It makes me a lot less nervous about trying to snag my must-haves tomorrow.
