Marathon Weekend 2017!

Random question: what do you all do with your magic bands during the race? Wear them? Check them with your bag?

I think I wore mine for the 5k and 10k, but since I wear a hydration pack (and since I already wear a watch on both wrists for races - Apple/Garmin, it makes it a little awkward to double up on a wrist without inadvertent button presses), I'm pretty sure it was in my pack for the half and full.

I wore mine during both the 10k and half marathon of Star Wars Dark Side weekend. It wasn't a problem at all (watch on one wrist, magic band on the other), and they are completely waterproof… we wear them when we go to the Disney water parks.

Thanks for all the responses! I think I'll just go ahead and wear mine during the race.

P.S. 27 weeks until the marathon. The Founding Fathers want you to get after it this weekend!

That's exactly how I did it. Apple Watch on one wrist, Fitbit and magicband on the other.

im another who wore it during the race. I just got so used to wearing it that weekend I just kept it on for fear of losing it.

We either wore ours or maybe left them in the console of the car? I know we got them on at some point because we went straight from the finishers area into EPCOT and they weren't with the stuff my husband had gone and stashed in a locker for us (change of clothes, purses, etc.).

I know I ran wearing mine at W&D and had no problems with it.

I've worn mine during each race of the three Dopey Challenges I've run, including the first year when they were handing out wristbands to signify race completion, and I've never had an issue. I was styling the first year with my 5k, 10k, and half marathon wristbands and magicband all on my wrists for the marathon.

Made my dining reservations today. Only 180 days to go!

1/1/17 - Boma (dinner)
1/2/17 - Akershus (lunch)
1/3/17 - Crystal Palace (pre-rope drop breakfast)
1/8/17 - Brown Derby (post-marathon dinner celebration!)

Hi all! Just joining this board after signing up for the half! I've literally never ran more than a 5K but the thought of running through the streets of my favorite place on earth has got me motivated! Thanks for all of the tips so far :love2:

Welcome!

My 180 days is tomorrow!

Ok, so I am woefully ignorant on the ADR process. We don't really frequent the high-demand character dining restaurants very often so we normally don't make reservations very far in advance; however, with a few kids in our group making their first trips to WDW it may be relevant. From piecing things together over the years: Is the 180 days from the day of your initial stay and are you then able to book for the entire duration of your trip? (this is mainly for future reference, we are staying off-site this year) Since we are staying off-site, we will essentially be waiting for 180 days before each individual day, correct? (assuming we feel the need to attempt to book something this year)

Sorry, for the questions. Like I said, I am incredibly ignorant of WDW trip planning for someone who has been making a yearly trip there the last five years.

Did you have to call to make your reservations? I can only go up to January 2nd online for reservations. We start our trip on the 3rd.
