Marathon Weekend 2017!

Thanks...sometimes I feel like I don't receive all the runDisney emails and I wondered if I had just missed them.

Next question. Does anyone know if it's possible for my friend and I to upgrade our 10K and half registrations to Dopeys??? I can't believe I am asking that question!!!
I think you can if Dopey is still open. You'd have to pay a transfer fee. Contact runDisney and they should be able to help you out.

Yes, you can. Dopey was still open as of yesterday so that shouldn't be an issue. I think you just pay the difference, I don't even think you pay a transfer fee. But, contacting runDisney is the best option like Ariel484 said.

Thank you! Planning to call first thing Tuesday morning.

Here's the policy from the runDisney site:

  • Registrations may be transferred within the same race weekend, to a different race distance, as long as the desired race distance is not sold out. The Guest must first register for the new event for the transfer to be valid; any difference in registration price the for a lesser distance (if any) will then be refunded, less a $45 transfer processing fee.
There is also a form you have to fill out and send to them. There's a link to the form in the last bullet under "Registration Policy" in the "Registration" tab for Marathon Weekend.

It's definitely worth giving them a call, too, as the form is set up with the assumption of a 1 to 1 race transfer.

I upgraded from the Tinkerbell Half to the PDC. I had to register for the PDC, then fill out a form from RD (on the marathon page on the RD website under Registration info there's a link that says "Request a transfer") to get a refund for the original race I registered for, in this case, the half. You lose the Active fees for the first race and then have to pay the transfer fee. They credited the money back to the card I used for the original registration.

Well my co-worker is still going to run her own 1st marathon (because Minneapolis was cancelled due to an incompetent race organization). So, I've made her a custom bib and finisher's medal. Shout-out to trophykits.com which was super cheap to get these custom medals made and shipped to me within 6 days! What do you think?

Bonus points to who can figure out the significance of the bib #s! She doesn't know I'm doing this for her yet. I'm going to surprise her at work on Friday before she leaves for Minnesota with her own race expo at her desk! :surfweb:

That's cool you did that for her. Hopefully she appreciates it. And I cannot figure out the bib#'s but I am not the most creative person.

This is awesome! Is she just running around Minneapolis, do you know the route or day? I would love to show some support on the course but we're running a race Saturday morning a little outside of the cities.

No kidding. As if the line there isn't already bad enough as it is.

I can't believe they're taking it away for good? Hopefully just re-tooling it to be more than frozen, sugary margs ...

First bib is number of meters in a marathon. Still working on the second one.

Edit: second is number of yards in a marathon.

Congratulations! Winner! Winner!

Some of her family lives in Rochester, MN and she said they had a marathon in Rochester last week (http://www.medcitymarathon.com/race-info/course-info.php). So she said she'll try and match this race route as closely as possible (she'll probably make a few small changes but hasn't decided yet). She plans on starting around 7:00am on Saturday (6/4) dependent on weather. Her and her boyfriend's goal time is a 4:15.

All this margarita talk got me thinking. Now that I've been running Marathon Weekend a few years and am a little bit quicker than when I started, I definitely want to start "exploring the space" a little bit more and finding new things to do and aim for while running the Half and Full Marathon. So I guess what I am looking for are some things(rides, etc.) that people have done, know are available/possible to do, and food items that are purchasable along the course that are outside of the ordinary. This is coming from the perspective of a non-drinker who is still hesitant to stop for characters if the lines are too long (so I'm probably not venturing off-course for a Mcflurry), but feel free to add anything because there are probably others who could be interested.

I guess, theoretically, if a park is open when we run through that anything is on the table; but I'd be interested to hear any experiences (personal or anecdotal).
